Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by You get what you pay for - convenient mid-tier overnight accomodation Free hotel parking this close to the city centre is hard to find. That does not mean this hotel is close to the city centre, probably a 15 minute walk, but any closer and you start paying £10 a night for it. The value of the hotel is good but the rooms are slightly dated and the bedding could do with being softer. That is when you compare it to other 4* brands which the hotel doesn't try to claim to be. Given I was travelling for business next time I will pay the extra to stay at a 4 star hotel instead and enjoy the luxuries that come with it. You can't fault HI Express for the free parking, breakfast and Internet though at this price. October 6, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Poor breakfast choices Room and bathroom were very good. Check-in was fast and efficient. Staff professional and friendly. The only disappointment was at breakfast. We arrived for breakfast 1 hour before it finished only to find that several items of hot food had been all used up and were not replenished during the 30 minutes we were in the restaurant. Other breakfast items eg juice, cereals, toast etc were in plentiful supply. My husband left the restaurant and told the receptionist but nothing was done. I made reception staff aware of the problem at check-out only to be told that in future we should tell the restaurant staff that some items needed replacing! I don't think this is something a guest should have to do. There were plenty of staff on duty in the restaurant but no-one seemed to check the food. We have stayed here on several occasions and this is the first time we have encountered any problems at all and have always enjoyed our stay. I hope that something will be done to rectify this and restore our confidence in this hotel. September 17, 2014

Staff were friendly, room very clean and modern, breakfast good and a great location close to Queens University. Price was very good value and hotel has a private and secure car park. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service, but... The room, the main focus of anyone's stay in a hotel, was a little surprising. We thought we had booked a double room, but 'standard' obviously meant twin. Whilst my wife found her bed perfectly comfortable, I was less happy with mine. Yet, despite being a room for two, there was only towel rail enough for one. The other oddity was the absence of drawer storage, a bit of a necessity for any stay longer than one day. There were a couple of maintenance issues, such as a broken shaver point in the bathroom. Whilst I can only commend the speed of the response once this was reported, the fix was a shaver plug to be used in the room, which wasn't ideal. All that said, the room was very clean and in good order. We found the staff exceptionally helpful, and the choices for breakfast were better than expected. The location of the hotel is perfect for Queens University, the Botanic Gardens and the plethora of restaurants and cafes around that area. It's a fair hoof to the city centre, but the Botanic train station is close by. I would have included a picture of the pleasant view towards the city, but the review website's upload facility didn't seem to be working. Shame. September 15, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for touring Belfast The beds and cleaniness of the rooms was as always good. The breafast was ok, but maybe I have been spoilt in other Holiday Inn Expresses. Internet connection was also good The main meal choice though was poor, gave limited choice and to quote 'the onlly vegtables we have are mushy peas that come with the fish and chips.' Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good family hotel We stayed three nights with our seven-year-old son in a family room. I was impressed by how clean the room and bathroom was. The bathroom was also very well fitted out and I'd be so happy if my own bathroom at home was as practical! The bed wasn't super-comfortable, but worked ok for us since we're both pretty much of the same height and build. Breakfast was basic but had a selection of different things. Coffee comes from one of those multi-beverage machines so not very good (this made me sad, I love my morning coffee). Staff was very friendly and helpful. The street outside can be rowdy, but our room was at the back so we weren't really disturbed. Lovely to be near the Botanical Gardens when travelling with a child, nice to be near a playground! Hotel carpark very small and may be full, however they do seem to be extending so hopefully that will solve the issue. Neighbourhood is nice, with many restaurants etc. nearby. August 15, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A staff that makes it worth This staff is really making it Worth. the breakfast was advertised to start at 07:00 however, the staff was ready way before that enabling me to be ready earlier for all my work week. Many thanks. Also, the athmosphere was clearly friendly. After a warm welcome, one could notice that the staff were smiling at all times, having kind words for all the guests as well as for their colleagues. They welcomed everybody every morning really greatly. The room were all cleaned, as well was the restaurant and the bar. Just maybe a bit more water cleaning on tables would help making it perfect. Dinners were simple but all really good and if not convenient, the are several restaurants all around the place. This stay in the Queen's Quarter reconciled me with considering Holiday Inn & Express as a brand to stay, after a disgusting stay at the Holiday Inn downtown Belfast. The hotel would benefit from adding the airco in rooms, even though you'd not expect real high temperature in Belfast ;-) August 12, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn express Nightmare Poor is not even close to how I would rate our experience. Car parked blocking car park on check in, advised staff, brought back to attention 3 hours later and ignored. at check out it was still there. asked for another pillow was questioned as to why I needed it. They put a smoking point right under our room window, not good with child with Asthma, when mentioned I was told people need to smoke, People may CHOOSE to smoke, PEOPLE DON't CHOOSE ASTHMA, the hotel is responsible for placing a smoking area in a reasonable part. About 10 minutes walk from the Europa Bus Station (the drop and pick up for the airport shuttle bus) Good choice of bars and restauarants close to the hotel on Botanic Ave. only a few minutes walk from hotel. The breakfast selection was good, breakfast served until 10.30 weekdays and until 12 miday at weekends. Building works outside the hotel was noisy, but rooms confortable and clean.
