Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value and comfortable stay. My friend and I had a bargain stay here, for a visit to the Gardeners World Live at the NEC. Room was comfortable, the staff lovely and the breakfast an unexpected bonus, given the bargain price of the room. Although the hotel was full of wedding guests and cricket fans, there was plenty to eat and we sat comfortably in the bar area. We ate the first evening at the "One and Two Halves" which was good value but very noisy, due to a family disco evening; lovely for a family but not great for two middle aged women! The second evening, we ate Chinese at the "Travellers' Inn" the other side of the roundabout. It was basic Chinese takeaway fare but in a nice restaurant setting, inside the hotel. For £9.99 for three courses, it was a bargain but there was a reasonably priced general menu too. June 22, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay Good welcome upon arrival. Room was nicely furnished and very clean. Choice of pillows. Good advice given by reception staff as to where to eat, how to get into Birmingham by public transport etc. Breakfast was excellent value and despite the hotel being busy (with the cricket at Edgbaston and an Indian wedding), there was never any wait for any item as the stock ran low. The staff in the kitchen and waiting/buffet area deserve particular praise in respect of this. Walked to the Red Mango about 25 mins away and had an excellent curry. Would recommend this establishment to anyone staying at the hotel. The meal can be delivered to the hotel if you so wish. The only downside was the unavailabilty of Pay to View movies which is advertised on the company website. All TVs have been upgraded to 32" flat screen but you basically get freeview channels. This was a bit disappointing as Birmingham is about 30 mins away by bus, so if you wanted to see a movie then that is where you have to go. Apparently on installing the new screens the company took the decision to cease Pay to View - rather odd as this is a monetary loss. You will hear traffic noise if your room is at the front, but it was not excessive and didn't keep me awake. A very nice place to stay where customer service is first class. Ideal if you do not want a hotel in the centre of Birmingham and the associated noise of pubs and clubs turning out in the early morning. June 17, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience From the moment we walked in and received the cheerful greeting from reception to the moment we walked out with a cheerful fairwell, there was very little to fault about this hotel. To nitpick, the breakfast room could be larger as it struggles to cope when the hotel is busy, but this is the only small fault I can find. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the bathroom space spotless. The whole staff were cheerful and helpful. An excellent weekend stay. Thank you.. June 14, 2013

We arrived to find balloons, an activity pack and a birthday card in the room for him, it made his day! The pub next door is very reasonably priced and the hotel as a whole is very clean. Breakfast was good each morning and the stay was, on the whole, nice and relaxing. Would use this hotel again. June 6, 2013

The room was abit small but this expected from the type of accommodation it is. The staff were very friendly and helpful and advised us of everything we needed. No food in the evening time but a great pub/restaurant next door which was recommended by staff at hotel. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a one or two night break using the hotel as a base as its location is ideal. April 26, 2013

This was a great place to stay, weather you are traveling alone on business or just because. The room size was great and the beds were so very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the Birmingham area. The city centre is not to far of a drive and the Hotel staff can provide you with a list of shopping Mall and other things to do on your visit. April 18, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Honest staff We stay at this hotel a lot when visiting family in Birmingham but our last visit stood out because I forgot our iPad in the room on checkout. I realised this about an hour later and rang the reception who told me to give them 10 minutes to check with housekeeping but my husband was already driving back there. About 15 mins later they rang back saying they'd found it and handed it over to my husband. It was such a relief and I really appreciated the good service around reuniting me with the iPad! Thanks a lot housekeeping and the receptionist on duty on the morning of Sat April 1st 2013. April 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cold Showers & Not much Breakfast On one of the coldest winter mornings of 2013, got up early only to find no hot water for a shower. On check out a lady complained about this before I could mention it. We were told this was because everyone must be showering, and it would be OK in 15 minuets! Now I was in the shower at 6.00am, I don't think everyone else was!! Anyway, to breakfast, well it was as though a plague of locust had been through the place, and there no signs of more food coming, this was all at 7.00am. Not much for those coming after!!! Rooms are comfortable and quiet. A real bonus for a light sleeper is the fact that your bathroom extractor fans do not make a noise - unlike in some other chains. The heating system is efficient and easy to control and the card that you put in to maintain the temperature when you are out of the room is a good idea. I look forward to my next stay.
