After a long journey and then having a further long journey the next day, we felt completely relaxed after a good nights sleep. Beds and rooms very comforta
ble and clean. Food was a good price with a reasonable choice. Complimentary breakfast was a welcome surprise. Service excellent.

I've got to admit, this was the most atypical stay I've ever had in an IHG property. As a member of IHG Rewards Club I used this as a Reward Night, Pointbreaks stay.
I got up to my room on 6th floor and find that the latch is already on the door! Some guy comes out dressed for bed and is already in the room! Back down to reception I go and explain to another gentleman who admits that someone had been moved rooms and it was not input on the system and gave me another room on the top floor and escorted me up to it.
The second room (714) which was not taken, had a toilet seat which was very loose, the sink & kettle were already full of water and the room was in the front corner where it's impossible to open windows due to being on a busy main road and the AC was also centrally controlled. At this point it was midnight and honestly I just wanted to get some sleep .
I came back the next evening and was greeted by the smell of smoke. Being located looking onto a busy road, I couldn't open a window. I asked for a room change. At reception I was greeted by a very friendly Abdul, who I explained the issue to and how I was originally allocated a different room and was given apologies and offered a room at a back on another floor, however as a twin bed rather than a double since nothing else was free. Since I was on my own this did not bother me.
The second room was better, however it suffered from a non-working desk light and the toilet appeared partially blocked since when flushing the water level was high and took a few seconds to drain. Upon checkout I was asked how I rated the stay and I gave it a 6, which I felt was quite generous and explained why Upon giving my score, the lady seemed taken aback and simply said "Thats it" I was slightly taken aback by the fact she didn't seem to mind that I wasn't happy, so whilst I was leaning towards 3 stars, going to have to be a 2 now.

An excellent base that served our needs. Although our trip was for a sad occasion, the overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express made up for it.
The accommodation and service were first class. All the Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.
What more could you ask for.

quick friendly check in and out also give directions to where we wanted to be good breakfast in morning with plenty of variety and a car park adjoining that was reduced for members
