We stayed at this hotel about three years ago and found it to be good value, clean and well cared for. It seems nothing has been done to maintain those standards and our stay was a great disappointment.
The walls of the bedroom were dirty, the carpet rather worse for wear and, although serviceable, the bathroom wasn't up to usual Holiday Inn Express standards. Towels were great though - large and fluffy!
Breakfast in the morning was not a relaxing experience. We had to clear a table ourselves as the staff seemed to be overstretched and the chairs were really stained and disgusting. The food was ok considering the price, but again demand was outstripping supply and staff were struggling to keep things topped up. The whole thing seemed very unprofessional. The staff were not wearing any kind of uniform,which made them hard to identify, and didn't seem very efficient. There was certainly no service with a smile! Another small point was a lack of vegetarian sausages, which would have been nice. Won't be returning and wouldn't recommend this hotel to others.

Business traveller, so I see the inside of plenty of hotel rooms. Moved here after being unable to get a room in another local HI where I had been staying for several weeks. This was a good find. Large and spacious rooms with excellent shower room and large double bed. Good wifi signal anywhere in hotel and no hassle to log on. Location by the side of a main road is surprisingly quiet and staff are efficient and helpful.
I will continue to stay at this hotel rather than return to the previous one as the overall room standard is better and I prefer this location. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for good value for money and convenience for motorway access.
