Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by arowenstn Good room for the price
I felt the price of the room was a little on the high side, compared to other HIE hotels I have stayed at in other "tourist" areas. I probably wouldn't stay again, just because of the price. It also states it has a heated pool...the pool is NOT heated!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jbruner147 Great Hotel - Issue with Booking
My only complaint is at when I booked this room, it was not clear to me that it was an advanced rate that would not allow for adjustments in the reservation. While it was stated clearly on the confirmation, I never saw anything indicating the stipulation on the rate when I selected the room. I have used advanced booking rates before, but the rate is usually discounted significantly more than what it was on this stay. I would have liked to check out a day earlier, but was unable to and therefore elected to stay the full length of the reservation. I may elect to use an alternative lodging option following this experience,

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by carohur06 Overall Good Experience, but.....
.....the fan on the air conditioning unit in our room cycled on and off even though I set it on continuous, and that interrupted my sleep during the night each time it would cycle off. I was disappointed that the pool was only open until 10:00PM. I like to swim late at night when there are (hopefully) no kids in the pool. I don't understand why they close it at all. I also thought this hotel was way overpriced. About a month prior to this stay we stayed at a 5-star luxury resort hotel in Pasadena, CA, with a LOT more amenities, for $30 a night more than we paid to stay in this Holiday Inn Express. Staff and service were excellent, room was comfortable and clean, bed was comfortable enough. The hotel was a little hard to see until we had missed the entrance and had to turn around, but road construction contributed to that.

I had a great experience at this Blowing Rock, NC hotel.
The location is perfect for getting to restaurants, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and downtown. I was happy with my stay and the excellent customer service. I was very pleased with my Platinum Status upgrade. I will definitely return when in the area in the future. Thank you.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel but we had several problems: the refrigerator froze everything we put in it, the wifi didn't work, the microwave did not work. The hotel was clean and the location was convenient.

Check in was no problem...no kings beds available...were told that there was no internet service due to a bad storm the previous dasy but that the internet company was working on the problem and it was goin gto be a few hrs...went to nearby restaurant afterwards and Wi-Fi was widely available!!!Cofee maker in the room was not working...went to the pool area at night to get in the Jacuzzi...guess what? no Jacuzzi in the mountains!...but pool was full of kids jumping around, screaming and making a ruckus...no pool for us...breakfast...area too small. ppl were standing around waiting for a table...food was better than other hotels which give you sweets and coffee...Monday...still no internet...asked staff for directions and they did not know...said they were not from the area..asked as to when we could expect internet.she said it a few hrs...had to go to local restaurant to check their wifi to look at maps of the areas and the address we wanted to go to...overall...horrible experience...left on Tuesday morning...no internet...construction in the area led to horrible traffic..hotel is very difficult to get in/out...sign is hardly visible...no more HIE for me...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MatrixUno Excellent location, comfortable room and great service.
I have stayed at several Holiday Inns, but this one stood out for service, price, comfort and location. Our adventure began with the reservation process online (very easy), followed up by a call directly to the hotel requesting assistance with a room with the best view. The receptionist was very nice and extremely helpful. She indicated that the hotel didn’t have views towards the mountains, but she would put us in a room overlooking the green area—big plus, since Valley Blvd is currently under construction to make it a four lane road. Check-in was a breeze, as was the check-out services. Although the room was your standard hotel room, it was exceptionally clean and well kept. The cleaning staff was very polite and thorough with the cleaning of the room during our 3-day stay. Breakfast choices were average, but that's because of our dietary restrictions. In summary, my family and I were quite impressed with the hotel and its personnel, and the service they provided. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Blowing Rock, whether it’s just passing through or for an extended stay.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by eric44051 Very dissapointed stay
This hotel stay was dissapointing.
Roadwork for the hotel. So it was difficult on the small road to go inn and out.
People from the staff are not so friendly and where talking stupid.
I wouldnt like to travel like that(our three suitcases).
No you have to work.Ignore the three of us and talking to eacother.
No intresse for their guest.
The room seems to be fine excepted the toilet wich flushed difficult..
But we sleeped terrible.
The refrigarator was makeing so much noise in the night.
We try to shut it off but the plug was not in the wall. Not possible because we dont want to brake things.
So we where even more tired after sleeping then with travelling 200 miles.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SCSunshine777 Comfortable bed and clean room.
This hotel had very comfortable beds. The room was clean. The breakfast had variety of pancakes, bacon, eggs or cereals, yogurts, bagels, etc. The front desk clerk was very nice.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TBobT Difficult to locate
The mountain was extremely foggy, highway construction. The sign and hotel were barely visible and driveway difficult to see. Thought the GPS was not working correctly. Better signage is needed.
Down pillows were in the room that was requested to be "green". Too many people have asthma and allergies for all the properties to think down is an amenity.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by BlueRidgeParkwaylover would not recommened
Dining room carpet and chairs were filthy! Breakfast area nowhere near large enough for the size of the hotel. Both mornings required waiting for someone that looked like they may be leaving and trying to get the table before other waiting parties got it. Stairwell and doors were stained and discolored. Half of the parking lot was under construction, not enough legitimate spaces were available. Major road construction on the main road resulting in long delays when leaving or returning during the day. No Holiday Inn Express signage and very dark turning in from the main road. Found one of the housekeeper’s cart in the hallway with a hotel master key and occupied room listing lying on top for anyone to take.

Our daughters treated us to a night in the mountains as a get -a-way to celebrate our retirement! The night at Blowing Rock Holiday Inn Express was wonderful. The room was exceptionally clean! The breakfast was a huge variety! The front staff, especially Daniel, were very friendly, warm, and helpful. I recommend this hotel to you.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Curtis13 Clean room - comfortable beds.
Outstanding value. Exceptionally clean rooms. Great breakfast.
Only complaints: No other options for the mid-weight comforter that was on the bed. I would have liked a light blanket instead. Should have been one or two available in the room. Water faucet at sink was backwards. To the right was hot, should of been cold.

The room was clean and quiet, externally. Internally, not so much. The unit air conditioner was quite noisy; to the point that my wife and I would wake up several times a night when the compressor kicked on. The shower did not drain properly so that by the time you finished, you were standing~1.5 inches of rinse water (and I don't take a long shower). If you tried to take a bath, the plug would not hold, so that was not an option. The manager was contacted, but could offer no help. Proper plumbing seems kind of basic in any rented room, no?

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DingaLinga Nice--But could use some improvements
I guess my main criticism of this hotel is that it could be a little cleaner. The grout around the tub was mildewed, the room needed vacuuming, and the toilet wasn't cleaned the 4 nights we stayed. The pillows were horrible--just small lumps that we needed to pile up just to make one decent pillow.
Having said that, Tamara, at the front desk, was very nice. The people attending to the breakfast were also helpful. I overheard guests on a couple of occasions asking for something special, like a boiled egg, and they were accommodated.
Overall, not a bad place to stay.
