This facility will eventually be top-notch. Unfortunately, our booking agent was unaware that this is a very new property and that it is really not ready for occupancy...at least at the normal nightly rate. Overall, if progress continues, this is a diamond in the rough. For now, ropes hanging from the rooftop and suspended scaffolding are the "scenic view" you can expect. Two thirds of the parking lot is cordoned off for construction vehicles. The normal pool and banquet areas outside are fenced off and full of construction equipment. Be prepared to share the elevator with construction workers who have no qualms conversing with 1/3 English, 1/3 Spanish, and 1/3 expletives....regardless of the company in the elevator with them. The fitness room isn't ready for use. The ice makers on all floors but the first are still aren't ready for use. The staff is quite new...but very polite...however be ready for some check-in/out confusion and lot's of "I'm not quite sure...let me check on that for you." The engineering genius who installed the reception desk made the table portion at a completely non-ergonomic level for anyone but Wee-man. It's much too high to accommodate sitting...as if...and much too low to work effectively standing. Anyone having to stand there 8-10 hours a day is going to have MAJOR back issues after a week or two. Very poor design. Now the rooms...and the housekeeping...are PHENOMENAL!!! Spotless. Plush. Quiet. Well-equipped. Everything works. Tasteful decor. Top of the line TV's. Very "gotta plug in" accessible. Plenty of room. I've been to plenty worse...but if you book this place...at least until the construcion is over and the staff has gotten in the groove...HAGGLE with the rate or you're going to feel cheated. Tell them why...I mean it's pretty cut and dry...they aren't ready for occupancy. I'm sure they'll drop they're rate a buck or two...and if not, ask for the GM. I'm sure they'll understand your point.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Knights Commander Near OAK ISLAND, the best beaches in North Carolina
This Holiday Inn is of the Highest standard and in my opinion is not only the best value in the Oak Island, Southport area but gives you a quality that is far beyond my past memories of other Holiday Inns that I have stayed in over the past 20 or 30 years. If you are going to be in the Oak Island area you should stay here. I am opening a new company on the Island and have been developing my plans over the last four years. I have stayed at ever other Inn and Hotel in the area a combined total of over 200 nights in that time and this was the best experience I have had.
If you are coming to Oak Island and you stay here you will not need to check out the other properties.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NeverGoingThereAgain Really??!!
Upon arrival, front desk did not even offer to apply my AAA discount, hair on pillowcase, cob webs and dust bunnies in bathroom. Every time elevator would move, the walls would vibrate and then you would hear 3 beeps when it stopped. We were not next to the elevator!!! The walls were so thin you could hear the next room snore and even yawn. Room doors slammed then they closed. Worse night of my life. While hotel was new, it was not very well built.
