We were in town for leisure. I though the overall impression of the exterior of the motel and inside common areas were below par especially for the cost factor that we paid for this location. Overall we were pleased and will most likely continue to use IHG locations.

Just prior to staying at this Holiday Inn Express location, I stayed at a more "superior" IHG hotel which did not quite deliver on my expectations... so, I was elated that this hotel for which I had much more relaxed standards exceeded my expectations in every way. The service and staff were courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean, well-stocked, and comfortable! The location was great for where I needed to be close to Boulder and close to Lyons with easy access and parking. The room had complimentary wi-fi service, a fridge, microwave and sink in the room, two cozy double beds, an LG TV with many channels (which I only turned on once), and an outdoor balcony overseeing the pool and peeking at the mountains.
The breakfast options at the hotel were wonderful as well -- including hot breakfast options (eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy), bagels, toast, English muffins, variety of cereals, variety of instant oatmeal, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruits, milk, yogurts, pancakes, juice, tea and coffee! They also provide little trays in case you want to take food up to the room rather than eat in the little dining room. The only minus is that breakfast is only from 6:30-9:30, so if you snooze....
The hotel also adds a few small special touches like having a popcorn hour, a chocolate chip hour, and lat night pancakes.
While I was initially surprised that the hotel's price exceeded some of the others in the area, I feel it was overall a great value and a great experience! Strongly recommend.

I was in town for a wedding (the bride got ready in my room!) and the staff were very helpful with providing bottles of water and making sure that problems in the room were fixed as quickly as possible.

The room was so dark I felt I needed a flashlight. All the lights pointed downward. The breakfast area was so crowded I just skipped breakfast most days. And the bill said below the signature that I had received the goods and/or services "shown heron." Is this the motel's way of giving the customer the bird?

Good room facility and service. But not convenient for someone doesn't have a car. A rural area.

Everything about my stay was pretty average. The biggest I had was outlets! I had to move beds just to plug my devices in. Very lacking in that convenience. Also the way the toilet sits the lids will not stay up. Very annoying!!

We booked this hotel for its proximity to my brother-in-law’s home as well as the location of his wedding (same location). It was also no more than 10-15 minutes to many other points of interest in Boulder.
The hotel served our purpose. The room was a decent size with an outdoor terrace (just a view of some industrial buildings, but nice to have the outdoor space). The room also had a small kitchen area with a sink, microwave and small fridge, as well as some counter/cabinet space, which was nice to have. Housekeeping did a good job (considering we were four adults in one bathroom, which lacked decent ventilation and got pretty gross after four showers). If we were short on items they brought them up quickly. Only complaint was that they only gave us three bath towels when there were four people in the room--I'm guessing it's hotel policy. Beds were comfortable and air conditioner worked well and was easy to control.
The free breakfast was pretty typical for this type of hotel—make your own pancakes, an egg/meat option, bagels, English muffins, oatmeal, cold cereal, yogurt, muffins and cinnamon buns that were a huge hit with my family. There's coffee in the lobby all day and night and popcorn and cookies are put out in the afternoon/evening.
We didn't use the pool while we were there. It looked small, but nice—never saw many people in it during our stay.
There is a newer housing development just up the road (within walking distance) with several nice restaurants. We ate one evening at Restaurant 4580, which was quite good and has outdoor seating. Gateway Park is an amusement center located just across the road. It has mini golf, go-karts, batting cages and an arcade. It was a fun place to spend a couple of hours one evening.
While nothing fancy. the Holiday Inn Express is a decent choice if you're looking for a convenient location in Boulder that won't break the bank. Do be warned, they add a 20% charge to your bill to cover any damages or additional charges—it comes off once they've checked the room, but you just might want to be aware of this when the amount you're initially charged on your card is more than the bill they give you at checkout.
