ShaunAJ Totally undersells the local amenities!
There is only one place to go and eat and have a drink if you only want to walk, it's called F1 and it's 150yds up the hill.
Freshly showered and ready to sit down for a drink and bite to eat I discovered that F1 is not only a restaurant but a Go Kart track! Up to 12 karts racing each other at 45mph round a specially made indoor track. I had clean clothes and the wrong shoes on otherwise I would definitely have had a go, for a lonesome traveller how perfect. If the HIE had actually told me the full details of F1 I would have gone prepared, then had my beer and dinner.
Obviously they won't let you drive after drinking beer, but for a weary businessman this is a brilliant distraction.
I had asked at reception where if there were any restaurants and was informed of F1. I asked if the food was any good and the young lady said she didn't know as she'd never been. Personally I think the hotel should promote the venue as it would be a great place for a group of friends to enjoy a night out, the hotel is even close enough to return to shower before dinner!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by QuasiTravel Clean but Small rooms
No problem with the hotel being clean, but the room was very small. The vanity is located in the room itself as the bathroom was hardly big enough for the toilet and shower. The room had double beds, not queen beds.
The breakfast area is also small with not enough seats for guests trying to eat breakfast. Had to take it back to the room or eat standing up. Not the "great room" that many HI Exp have.
The internet often became very slow in the evening. Good signal strength, but not adequate bandwidth to serve the property and allow for real work to get done. This is all too common at many hotels.
To some it may be a minor point, but I was not greeted as a Priority Club Member, key was not ready, etc. Things I have come to expect and appreciate at IHG properties.
Although a good price for the Boston area and a decent location, the trade-off is a a older hotel that misses some important marks.
I have cancelled my future reservations here and will be staying elsewhere in Boston the rest of the summer (21 room nights thru August)

Older hotel, redone and clean. A little expensive for the type of facility but, good location for the Southshore.

I love the staff. Very personable. Nice business office and very convenient to all the key Boston/ Eastern Massachusetts areas.

Overall front desk was very friendly as was most staff. Room was a bit worn and needing some dated compared to most HI Express. The breakfast is as skimpy as you'd find at a HI Express. Coffee is cheap and horrible, obvious they're more interested in cutting costs with generic sweet n low and won't provide guests something as simple as splenda for coffee.
Just seems obvious the management is more concerned about cutting costs to the bone then the guest experience.
