Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best stay I stop here whenever I am working in the area. Generally the place is pretty good, but this time wasn't the best. The rooms are starting to look a bit tired, the wifi can be a bit hit and miss. The worse thing is some guy with his room door open and walking around with sod all on. Not what I want to see when I am a paying guest in a hotel. Got to be honest, the staff are generally pretty good. March 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Service Our room had a huge comfortable bed, the best sleep I've had in a long time. Staff were very helpful and friendly and we were offered a coffee on arrival which was a nice touch. Breakfast eggs were a bit fake but you can't really expect too much from a free breakfast. We stayed in a deluxe room in Stoke on Trent the following day, this room left a lot to be desired and we were awake the whole night because of how uncomfortable the room (heat) and bed was. Just made the experience of staying in Braintree all the better. I couldn't believe that a basic room in one Holiday Inn outshone a deluxe room in another Holiday Inn by a mile. Maybe managers should check out other Hoilday Inns to see the differences. March 7, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by If you can choose a Premier Inn Overall is it not a bad stay, but a filthy car park and an incomplete development site spoil the first impression. The room was good and the unlimited Wi-Fi beats Premier Inn. However the breakfast does not complete, I constantly needed to ask for things as the restocking was not keeping up with demand. There were only about 12 people to serve, so not great. The breakfast choice is poor, only cheap sausages, over cooked scrambled egg and beans on offer for hot. Plus the usual cereals, toast etc and bite size croissants and pain au chocolate. February 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic value for money You won't beat the Holiday Inn Express for value for money. Rooms have everything you need and the beds are so comfortable.. The staff were very helpful and particularly friendly. The breakfast was adequate. We, also, ate in the evening and, although, the choice was limited, the food wasn't bad. It meant we didn't have to go out looking for food, when we'd had a long journey. Will definitely visit again. February 26, 2014

The rooms are clean and comfortable not had a bad room yet and I use this hotel enough to have stayed in most of them. Parking is free so not another cost like Stansted down the road and there are a few nice pubs for drinks or meals close by. February 23, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfectly located between Stansted and Braintree This hotel on Panners Roundabout has a distinct advantage over the other nearby hotels. It is situated well away from the Cressing Roundabout bottleneck. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and the walk-in shower cubicle is very large with a seat! There is a good selection of hot and cold food on offer for the free breakfast and the there is free wifi throughout the hotel with no limit on the number of devices connected. A far superior hotel to the others in the area. February 3, 2014

Scrambled egg at breakfast was so dried up it resembled gravel. Postcode given for satnav is non-existent but the "address" postcode worked fine. I would recommend to anyone and would return again. Nothing fancy just a nice clean room with really friendly and helpful staff who are all able to multi task in any role and your standard no frills breakfast. My only little gripe in Braintree was the lack of wi fi for my 2 night stay. I just felt a little bit out of touch. January 26, 2014

The hotel has good on-site parking and is clean/warm with friendly staff on reception & bar/restaurant. The rooms are comfortable and the only thing that lets this hotel down is the basic menu for dinner and a very limited breakfast choice ... January 20, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff and Service I stayed here for a whole week. The staff at the hotel are amazing. Very friendly, always greeted you, and asked if you needed any assistance. I just moved here and was new to the area, they were helpful in always calling me a cab to get me places around the town. The room was always clean and fresh every single day. The staff here made me feel really comfortable and welcomed. I would recommend this hotel to anybody and would for sure stay at this hotel in the near future again. Convenient when visiting friends who live locally This time found that the room we were given (111) was near the lift etc. and was very noisy from people passing even into the early hours. We were visiting friends on Boxing Day and got back to the hotel about 9pm and we were still awake at 1am. Breakfast was soso......... plenty of sausages, if you like sausages.... No bacon, scrambled egg was luke warm. As they say could do better .... January 6, 2014

They made what might have been a very ordinary hotel feel like a family run friendly and enjoyable stay. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by LACK OF STAFF THE STAFF HERE ARE ABSOLUTLY GREAT NOTHING IS TOO MUCH TROUBLE BUT I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE HOTEL IS UNDER STAFFED AT BUSY PERIODS. AT BREAKFAST THERE WERE NO CLEAN DISHES...MUGS....LARGE SPOONS.....OUT OF ORANGE...NO CLEAN TABLES AS ALL BEEN USED AND NOT CLEARED ! THE BREAKFAST IS VERY BASIC BUT THE ROOM COST INCLUDES IT SO IT IS ADEQUATE BUT THE SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE DUE AGAIN TO LACK OF STAFF. SORRY BUT IF IT WASNT FOR THE CONVENIENT LOCATION I WOULD STAY ELSEWHERE. December 9, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Holiday Inn staff that I have encountered On my previous visit Upon check-in I was given the key to a room that was already occupied and walked in to the room when the guy was on the phone to his girlfriend - highly embarrassing ! This time the battery had run out on the door lock so it looked like the same thing had happened. It took me a couple of walks up and down the stairs too get in. Next morning same again - couldn't get into the room and they finally, after a ten minute wait let me in the room. Each time I have stayed here the breakfast has not been refreshed and just a few scraps left. The sausages are so bad that I can't eat them t hey must be so cheap, they even smell vile ! Oh well at least I can check-out and get out of the place NO CHANCE - one receptionist on the phone taking a reservation and the other one outside having a cigarette. She came back in and walked straight past me and sat in the office in plain sight from the front desk. After 5 mins she comes out and asked the person behind me if he is being served - totally ignoring me ! I pointed out that I was waiting and finally got checked out and on my way. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room clean. Staff helpful Chose this hotel because they allowed us to have the dog with us. Overall we found the experience good. Breakfast left a lot to be desired as we didn't get in til 9.05 & seemed to be left with 'dregs' (served from 5.30 -9.30) - the sausages left had obviously been at bottom of pile from early morning - they were so hard even the dog couldn't crunch them when I took them out to her! No staff around at that time to ask for more food. Spent a pleasant evening in the bar the night we arrived, only criticism would be that there was only one choice of bitter for my partner that was a smooth which he doesn't drink - maybe think about stocking few bottles of real ale for choice. Food was okay that night - not fantastic, limited menu & obviously bought in pre-packed frozen but as only staying the one night it suited its purpose. One other suggestion would be a couple of well placed bins outside specifically for disposal of doggie bags. We will return as our points aren't major & are more observations. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff team. December 2, 2013

Reception / Bar staff and the lady working Breakfast were all very pleasant, welcoming & helpful. The Room was clean and roomy and the shower very good. 2 adverse comments> There was virtually no choice of TV channels. A good sectuion of the car park was not lit. November 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Food Only scrambled eggs, sausage, beans, cereals and fruit available for breakfast. This was fine and adequate as it was a Holiday Inn Express. I think the sausages could be better but that's a matter of taste. I am diabetic and would have liked some cereals available with less sugar. e.g. Shredded Wheat or Weetabix. A most enjoyable stay. Was disappointed though, that dead on 10 am (on a Sunday) although the breakfast room had upwards of 5 families in there, the staff came and turned EVERYTHING off and took absolutely everything away within 2 minutes. While I can appreciate that the cooked food can't stay out there any longer than 3 hours, it would have been nice to have had another tea and maybe a pastry. November 21, 2013

I couldn't sleep as the hallway light was shining brightly through the crack in the door. However was still good, the staff were EXCELLENT. November 14, 2013
