Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfectly located between Stansted and Braintree This hotel on Panners Roundabout has a distinct advantage over the other nearby hotels. It is situated well away from the Cressing Roundabout bottleneck. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and the walk-in shower cubicle is very large with a seat! There is a good selection of hot and cold food on offer for the free breakfast and the there is free wifi throughout the hotel with no limit on the number of devices connected. A far superior hotel to the others in the area. February 3, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value. Pro: Clean and airy, very comfortable beds and friendly staff. Easy parking. Everything you need for a very pleasant stay. Cons: WiFi didn't work. Scrambled egg at breakfast was so dried up it resembled gravel. Postcode given for satnav is non-existent but the "address" postcode worked fine. I would recommend to anyone and would return again. Nothing fancy just a nice clean room with really friendly and helpful staff who are all able to multi task in any role and your standard no frills breakfast. My only little gripe in Braintree was the lack of wi fi for my 2 night stay. I just felt a little bit out of touch. January 26, 2014

The hotel has good on-site parking and is clean/warm with friendly staff on reception & bar/restaurant. The rooms are comfortable and the only thing that lets this hotel down is the basic menu for dinner and a very limited breakfast choice ... January 20, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff and Service I stayed here for a whole week. The staff at the hotel are amazing. Very friendly, always greeted you, and asked if you needed any assistance. I just moved here and was new to the area, they were helpful in always calling me a cab to get me places around the town. The room was always clean and fresh every single day. The staff here made me feel really comfortable and welcomed. I would recommend this hotel to anybody and would for sure stay at this hotel in the near future again. Convenient when visiting friends who live locally This time found that the room we were given (111) was near the lift etc. and was very noisy from people passing even into the early hours. We were visiting friends on Boxing Day and got back to the hotel about 9pm and we were still awake at 1am. Breakfast was soso......... plenty of sausages, if you like sausages.... No bacon, scrambled egg was luke warm. As they say could do better .... January 6, 2014

They made what might have been a very ordinary hotel feel like a family run friendly and enjoyable stay. On request, they even warmed up a mug of milk after we returned from a Boxing Day party, and needed something to settle us down. Makes a difference to have friendly staff like this. December 31, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Holiday Inn staff that I have encountered On my previous visit Upon check-in I was given the key to a room that was already occupied and walked in to the room when the guy was on the phone to his girlfriend - highly embarrassing ! This time the battery had run out on the door lock so it looked like the same thing had happened. It took me a couple of walks up and down the stairs too get in. Next morning same again - couldn't get into the room and they finally, after a ten minute wait let me in the room. Each time I have stayed here the breakfast has not been refreshed and just a few scraps left. The sausages are so bad that I can't eat them t hey must be so cheap, they even smell vile ! Oh well at least I can check-out and get out of the place NO CHANCE - one receptionist on the phone taking a reservation and the other one outside having a cigarette. She came back in and walked straight past me and sat in the office in plain sight from the front desk. After 5 mins she comes out and asked the person behind me if he is being served - totally ignoring me ! I pointed out that I was waiting and finally got checked out and on my way. I will NEVER stay here again. December 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room clean. Staff helpful Chose this hotel because they allowed us to have the dog with us. Overall we found the experience good. Breakfast left a lot to be desired as we didn't get in til 9.05 & seemed to be left with 'dregs' (served from 5.30 -9.30) - the sausages left had obviously been at bottom of pile from early morning - they were so hard even the dog couldn't crunch them when I took them out to her! No staff around at that time to ask for more food. Spent a pleasant evening in the bar the night we arrived, only criticism would be that there was only one choice of bitter for my partner that was a smooth which he doesn't drink - maybe think about stocking few bottles of real ale for choice. Food was okay that night - not fantastic, limited menu & obviously bought in pre-packed frozen but as only staying the one night it suited its purpose. One other suggestion would be a couple of well placed bins outside specifically for disposal of doggie bags. We will return as our points aren't major & are more observations. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff team. December 2, 2013

Reception / Bar staff and the lady working Breakfast were all very pleasant, welcoming & helpful. The Room was clean and roomy and the shower very good. 2 adverse comments> There was virtually no choice of TV channels. A good sectuion of the car park was not lit. November 28, 2013

I think the sausages could be better but that's a matter of taste. I am diabetic and would have liked some cereals available with less sugar. e.g. Shredded Wheat or Weetabix. A most enjoyable stay. Was disappointed though, that dead on 10 am (on a Sunday) although the breakfast room had upwards of 5 families in there, the staff came and turned EVERYTHING off and took absolutely everything away within 2 minutes. While I can appreciate that the cooked food can't stay out there any longer than 3 hours, it would have been nice to have had another tea and maybe a pastry. November 21, 2013

Was informed by staff that normally they could suggest eating at hotel, but had no kitchen staff, offered me a take away menu. I then had to travel back into Braintree to find somewhere to get an evening meal. It was not far and had a nice meal, but would have preferred to stay in hotel. Staff very good and nothing to much trouble. The room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was good, with a wide choice of foods. November 10, 2013

The beds are comfortable, the rooms are adequately furnished and the shower is good and powerful. The bar food menu is limited (especially if you have to stay often) but there is a new Hungary horse up the road and a Toby carvery is going up on waste land next door - so that will be good! So in short, good value for money, great location for Braintree and Stansted Airport. October 26, 2013

No heating whatsoever, bedside light did not switch off, shower head broken, no draght beer, TV remote did NOT change the chanels, no scrambled eggs in the morning for breakfast, which meant breakfast consisted of sausages and bread!! VERY POOR, complained but nothing even said like "sorry". I have stayed here before and been happy, but this was not a good visit, not sure about stopping there again. The room was clean, that's as good as I can offer. October 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Large room clean great welcome for our dogs I have never been to holiday inn before and was really impressed. The room was big and spacious and the double bed six foot wide. Everything was really clean and smelt nice. We couldn't find the remote control when we arrived but it wasn't a problem as the staff were quick and happy to sort it out. I was so pleased to find a place that allowed dogs. The staff seemed delighted they were there and I wasn't made to feel they were a nuisance at all. For my part I made sure the dogs were well behaved and stayed on their dog beds or dog blankets in the room as I want holiday inn to continue to welcome dogs so I can tour England with my dogs in future! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant staff We booked this hotel because we often use Holiday Inn in the USA where the beds are very comfortable. This was not the case here. We had to change room because the shower head was broken in the first room we were allocated. The woman on the front desk was very helpful. The breakfast was poor. The door to a room near ours looked like somebody had broken in using force. It didn't make us feel we had chosen the right place to stay. We will not be returning. October 12, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Memorable for the wrong reasons The reception staff were very friendly on our arrival, when we checked into our room it had a funny smell and the lock latch was broken off but the lock in the door worked, the tv remote didn't work but overall the rest of the room was fine. We went down for breakfast at about 845 and the breakfast was appalling, the beans, scrambled eggs and sausages looked like they had been sat for hours and were congealed and the containers they were in were very dirty. The toaster wasn't working properly and even on the highest temp it took four journeys through the toaster to develop even a slight brown tint. Hanging above the toasting area were 2 very large cobwebs. The cleanliness in the breakfast area was terrible. The problems in the room could of been forgiven for a budget hotel but the breakfast and lack of hygiene cannot. October 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Extemley helpful staff Our nights stay over all was fine my only complaint was a school party of teens who arrived around 9.30pm and continued to enter each others rooms til gone 11.30 chatting and banging doors. I wish we had been located somewhere different in the hotel - knowing I had a child. otheriwse all in all a nice place. October 10, 2013
