Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BaltimorePete Always a little more pricey, but usually worth it
I travel several times a year. Like most, I am always trying to find the best place at the lowest rate. Holiday Inn Express tends to be 10-20% more costly than the lower end of the spectrum, but I've learned that there is added value in being able to depend on clean, well-equipped accommodations, a nice breakfast and a flexible check-in for Priority Club members. Among comparably-priced hotels, Holiday Inn Express will be my first choice, and it is often my first choice even when I have to spend a little more.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by REDWHITEANDBLUE Always one of my favorite places to stay.
I have stayed at this hotel over 200 times over the last 3 years and have seen continuing updates. New flat screens in the rooms (2 in the suites) a good breakfast and friendly, helpful staff that genuinely cares. They always provide a great place to stay!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by keepsmiling1228 Stayed here with a "Wedding Block" of rooms
My nephew reserved a block of rooms family to stay overnight. The property offered a shuttel (large 15 passenger van) to take people to and from the Hall (Walden Woods) which was nice. The property is set back off the main road amongst a number of stores and restaurants which is convenient if anyone wanted to "shop" or eat out without traveling too far. This is only a 2 story hotel. Our "block of rooms" was split between the 1st and 2nd floors which was the only thing I didn't like, but it was okay. The pool area looked HUGE with an overhead walkway to rooms. We didn't stay in that wing of hotel or have time to use the pool so I cannot comment on it. The only thing that I think could've been a little better was the breakfast. They had typical "continental breakfast food" but according to my daughter the Cinnamon Rolls were "sort of hard" and the "eggs were Gross" #we ate at 9:00 a.m.#....She's 15 to take that for what it's worth. I had coffee, yogurt and a muffin, and mine all tasted fine. In our room the bathtub had a small stain in the porcelian by the drain but other than that, everything was clean and comfortable. Stairway by outside door seems "dirty" . But the lobby and eating area and internal stairway and hallways were all fine. The check-in was slow due to them only having 1 person at the desk we had a lot of "wedding people" coming to check in at the same time and I would've thought that they would of had more people on staff to handle it.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by hockeyTC Worst HEI stay ever
We had 6 adults sitting in the lobby in front of the front desk at midnight having casual conversation with each other when the night auditor came in and told us to leave the area and go to our rooms. We were told that it was unacceptable to sit there - that the lobby was closed. The night audit persons name was Josh - and he is the reason that we will never stay there again. After we were kicked out of the lobby areas, we were standing in the hallway in front of OUR ROOMS talking quietly and he again told us we were to "get in your rooms". It did get heated for a minute when one of our parents asked Josh to take a walk to the "front desk" to take his credit card off the room. He then called the police while we were standing in the hallway. There was no drunk behavior going on, nor any loudness or obnoxious behavior. Six adults wanting to chat in the lobby because other members were sleeping in our rooms.
The young ladies working the shift before him at midnight were wonderful and pleasant - and they are the ones that told us we could sit in the lobby and hang out - rather than in the hallway. These young ladies were NOT rude. Josh was rude not only to us, but also rude to another group that was up the stairs sitting in a non-room area. I have never been treated so badly by a staff member at a Holiday Inn Express. This one just lost another 20 rooms because we needed rooms in Brighton again in the upcoming weeks, and I let our other group know what the experience was like.
Cleaniness - I don't believe the hallway on floor one had been vaccumed in quite some time - it was filthy and had ripped paper allover the hall. One of our rooms was infested with ants and she had to be moved.
Regulars - based on our observations, there were many "regulars" that were coming/going into the hotel that were not typical guests of a Holiday Inn.
Very disappointed in this site and would NOT recommend groups staying there, families with young kids, or people that wanted cleanliness.

My family and I were traveling to Orlando from upstate, flying out of DTW. Because of the weather, we decided to start early and stay overnight at this hotel. We have three children, so I specifically booked a more expensive suite so we would have an extra pull out bed. We arrived after ten, checked in, and I opened the couch to sleep on.
I am aware that pull out sofas are not the most comfortable, but this was exceptionally bad. It was like trying to sleep on chain link fencing - there seemed to be no padding over the wire springs at all. I finally closed it up and used it just as a couch, which was still cramped and uncomfortable, but bearable. When I complained the next morning, the desk clerk first admonished me for not calling the night before (I did not because the rest of my family was asleep and I did not want to disturb them). But since she immediately said there probably wasn't anything they could do to make the couch more comfortable, I'm not sure why my poor night was my fault for not calling sooner.
No offer was made to compensate us for our discomfort; I feel that I paid for a suite, got a standard (or sub-standard), and got no satisfaction. They failed to provide us with the usual little Priority Club recognition, too.
I stay at Holiday Inn Express because I usually get more than I expect for my money. This is the first time I have gotten less. I do not recommend this hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tondo Great for the family
We enjoyed the pool and spa with our grand kids - great place to relax while the little ones play. Our main complaint is the noise on the first floor later in the evening. Guests forget others are trying to sleep.

This was are third time at this property. We had to dust two out of three times. Thick dust on headboards and fixtures. It appears housekeeping wipes down the desk and entertainment center only. The rooms here are smaller than other H.I.X. properties.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by JtheNomad Clean, but not good for weekends
My family and I checked into a king suite room (booked, not upgraded) over the holiday. Check-in process was smooth and the room was clean & spacious. I was staying on the pull-out, my family in the room down a short hallway. The first night & Thanksgiving were comfortable and without incident. The curtains are very effective- the room will stay very dark if you like.
The problem came on Friday night, and this is common with hotels with their layout (most rooms around the pool, 2 story open hallways): There was likely a wedding party staying in house who were shouting at each other across the pool and between floors. My family (down the hall & behind another door) was not disturbed but I couldn't sleep until 1:30AM after I threatened to call the police for disturbing the peace. The hotel clerk had tried to get them in line 3 times but it didn't stop until after my threat.
The hotel was very apologetic at check-out (without me mentioning the situation) but, having worked in hotels when I was younger, I'm certain this is a regular weekend issue.
I would recommend this hotel during the week or if you can avoid a room in the pool area.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by JenC Pool area was out of control.
I booked a room here for a girls night out, went to enjoy the hot tub, only to have 3 unsupervised (and under 12) kids join us in the hot tub. I called the front desk to tell them about it, "we'll keep an eye on it". Came back to hotel after dinner hoping to go back in.... to find 6 underage kids (different group) in the hot tub. Plus a large church group of kids that managed to splash enough water out of the pool the carpets circling the pool area were soaked.
Left again, came back and there was a definite cigarette smoke scent in the halls.
I know the staff can't be responsible for how their guests behave, but it was a disappointing experience on a night out that I had planned for a few months.
For the money we paid to stay there, I would not recommend this hotel.

Room was spacious and very comfortable. Very clean. We overlooked the pool which was a bit noisy up until 10p when pool closed for kids. The last hour up until final closing of the pool at 11p was adult swim only (much quieter obviously). But, the beds were at the back of the suite away from the door so my own sleeping kids were not affected by the noise, if all of those rooms are like that it seems at least well thought out anyway. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and will not hesitate to stay again.
