The staff were very friendly and helpful. We checked in after midnight and the desk clerk was very nice and helpful. The room was clean, all appliances worked well. Very disappointed in the beds. They were very uncomfortable and both my wife and I woke with backaches. The chairs in the room were equally uncomfortable and not suited for sitting in for extended periods. Other than the beds and chairs this is good motel.

I like to build my Holiday Inn Priority Club points but almost didn't stay here because of all the "bad bed" reviews, as I really like a good bed and good nights sleep. Bed was just fine though so I recommend that you give it a try yourself.

Enjoyed the stay. Stay in Brookings 3 times per year and have never been disappointed.

Between the barking dog (pets are allowed at this hotel) across the hallway and the running up and down the hallway by a 6th grade basketball team, I didn't get any sleep at this hotel. The wading pool was closed because of someone throwing up in it and the large pool was full of a rowdy group of 6th grade boys. That left the hot tub for my family to hang out in but the chlorine was so strong it made everyone cough and eyes water. Such a bad pool experience. I won't stay here again.

One of the worst beds I have had in a Hotel in a long time. If beds in the other Holiday Inn Expresses were like this bed, I would find a new Hotel Chain to stay in. Had a very poor nights sleep as a result.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by UncomfotableinFeb Very Uncomfotable bed and faulty hot tub
I spent 6 nights in this hotel and was only able to get a few hours of sleep each night because of the uncomfortable bed. There was a child mattress protector on the bed that did not allow any circulation of air underneath me. By the third night I had shut off the heat completly to my room to try to stay cool in the bed. After the 5th night I decided to strip off the protector and remake the bed for better comfort. This was better but still not great. The hot tub was luke warm most nights and the jets only worked one night. Not really relaxing either when you have tepid water when expecting it to be hot.

We rented a room and also the party room to have our family Christmas and it went great. I'm sorry that I didn't get the gals name that was working that night but she was wonderful. I came a bit early to check into the room and she was kind enough to let me put our food in the party room when I got there so that I didn't have to haul it to our room and then back down to the party room when it was time for the party. She asked us if we needed any thing else and just did a nice job of being friendly to our large family. The only disappointing thing was that the kiddy pool was roped off so none of the little kids could swim and they were disappointed. Overall, the hotel is very clean and the room was very nice. Just a great experience. Thanks.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mike63 Good service - maintainence issues
We stayed at the Brookings Holiday Inn Express over the Christmas Holiday. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was the standard fare, which I find quite satisfactory.
The heating unit for the room we were assigned was slightly noisy the first night and made more loud noises the second night. Sleeping through the background noise was not a problem the first night. However, the second night a restful sleep was not to be had. My recommendation of this property is conditional on their addressing the (hopefully isolated) maintainence issue.
