Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service! From the moment we walked in the door we were greated with smiles. Everyone at the desk went out of their way to help. I asked for directions to the Brooklyn Bridge. I was handed a map of brooklyn and Google walking directions. Incredible service. During my stay I received a call from James the front office manager asking how the hotel was doing. Let me tell you that this is the first time I have ever received a call from a manager to ask my opinion unsolicited. Great stay, we will definately be back! Thank you all. May 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay! Thanks guys for an awesome stay! James, You lead an awesome crew! May 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Staff made stay worth staying! Two staff members in particular made my multiple stays even more incredible then normal. Brian (manager) and Madelyne were both wonderful human beings and very service oriented individuals. I did not experience a problem that they did not resolve in a timely and fair manner and they both always greeted me with such kindness that it was akin to going home. When in Brooklyn, NY, this is my hotel of choice and it helps that it was in walking distance to where the Brooklyn Nets play so a win win for all!!!!! May 7, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Quite dismayed with Description I have to say that I was quite disappointed with what I received for the high price. I have been a priority club member for over a decade and have always been very pleased with Holiday Inn Express locations. I chose this hotel over others in the area, at nearly the same price, because of the photos which described the location, what seemed like the grounds and the rooms. First off, none of the photos showing a beautiful park like setting were true. There is no green open space at this hotel. The photos were of the Botanical Gardens nearly a mile away. Secondly, I was charged for parking at a ridiculous rate per day. That was not on the website or stated by the reservations desk. Third, the photos of the rooms showed spacious rooms, like I have come to expect of Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express. These rooms were cramped and had barely room to walk past the beds. The "desk space" was a table that if you sat at it you blocked the only way into the bathroom. Not what I would recommend as a Holiday Inn Express at all. May 6, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worse experience in a long time I have frequented this hotel on many occasions. under at least three different management teams. This day was quite troubling. It was 3:30 and a large school group was dropped off by a bus which was blocking the driveway and the front parking. The kids and adults were all waiting for the single elevator which meant that other guests could not even get to the desk. When I did manage to get to the desk no room was ready. Finally i was assigned a room but had to walk up the five flights of stairs. When I arrived the staff was still cleaning. The room fixtures were damaged and some drawers did not work nor did one phone and a light. The next morning I went to take a shower and there was no hot water. While the staff puzzled over this problem the best that was possible was to go down two floors to another room. As frosting on the cake my car had two hubcaps missing when I got to the parking lot the next morning. At check out everyone was sorry, but no real issues were addressed. May 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by too noisy when I arrived at the hotel, the lobby (which is small) was crowded with what I suspect were other guest, however, rather than coming and or leaving the hotel, they just “hung around”, this made me a bit uncomfortable and my suspicion was that these were “displaced” person and they were “living” at the hotel. My suspicion was somewhat confirmed later that night when all night long there was talking and people walking in the hall outside my room (up to and including at 4am), there was a baby crying down the hall and I was not able to get a rested night sleep and I had to get up early for work the next day. I would not stay here again and I would not recommend this hotel to my co-workers or friends. April 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Butler Street Holiday Inn Rocks! I had the pleasure of staying at the Holiday Inn on Butler Street from the 18-21 of April. From the moment I arrived, I knew it was going to be fabulous. The staff from the front desk to the maid service were phenomenal! I never remember being treated so well at a hotel before. The location is is great, I felt very safe and was able to walk to train stations, markets and restaurants. I have found a new home when I go back to Brooklyn. Thank you! April 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good choice Very helpful staff. Nice variety for breakfast and also nice variety of TV stations. Room was clean and comfortable. LOVE that this hotel will still accommodate smokers on one of the levels. Only downside was there's no good choices of restaurants in the area. April 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff-Never a Disappointment! We stay at this Holiday Inn a lot because of business. Since the scheduling is always dependent on our clients the reservations can get a bit confusing. The front desk has never let us down. Brian Ynoa has helped us out a number of times. On our last visit he pulled a "rabbit out of the hat" to make our arrival care-free and easy. Thanks Brian and all the other staff that keep us looking forward to our next visit! April 18, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by very small room very small room, the hotel employees were nice and it is a good value for money April 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff We enjoyed our stay very much. All the staff were extremely courteous and helpful. They were very kind to two Texans that were full of questions about where to eat and how to get around. James, Bryan, Marilyn, Miranda, and Manny are a credit to Holiday Inns. We did havea few issues in our room but they were quickly seen to. February 23, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very polite staff, otherwise a dump. Got a handicap & smoking room. Not really sure why? I am a Platinum Priority Club member & neither are on my profile. Actually the whole 2nd floor smelled like a cigarette. I also found inadequate counter space in bathroom because it was handicap equipped.Carpeting & Bed Spread had burn holes also. Lastly all tables were filfthy in breakfast area. Must say the staff at front desk was very good & very friendly but will probably never return to this location. February 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Gold standard in customer service The rooms are standard size for NYC. The room was clean. The breakfast area was a little small as well. The entire staff was incredibly happy and helpful. From the managers greeting guests in the lobby to the maids cleaning the rooms, every one was very nice. February 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location Great location for me close to where my meetings were taking place. Close to 5th Ave and all the great restaurants. Barclay's Center and the Nets, went to the Bull's/Nets game. All within walking distance. Staff are great, always willing to help and go the extra mile. This was my second visit and I will come back on my next visit's to New York/Brooklyn. The only draw back is lack of parking on the property, but there is plenty of street parking just read the sign's. February 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Would stay there again! Staff was pleasant, off street parking, rooms small (typicaly for nyc) but very clean. Breakfast was basic, but good and again clean. Definitely would stay there again! February 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff! When away from home, we look for the amenities, comfort and the little perks that make our visit memorable. But, foremost, it begins and ends with our host. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn on Butler St many times and have never been disappointed by the wonderful staff. Not only do they greet people with a gracious smile but they are problem solvers. They go out of their way to assist customers and to make their stay pleasant and comfortable. Special thanks to Stein & Brian but also to the staff we don't see...maintenance and custodial who are always working behind the scene. We look forward to our next trip to Brooklyn! February 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brooklyn's hidden hotel I chose this hotel because my floors were being done in our home and we needed to stay out for one night while the floors dried. Originally, I wanted to go to the holiday at JFK, but decided that it was too far from any nearby stores. Well, this hotel is kind of in the middle of nowhere. I'm a born and raised brooklyn resident and even I was taken aback at how dark and secluded many of the surrounding streets were. This is where a car is handy to have or money for the local cabs. If you have that, then you are in a good place. There are many places to eat and/or order from once you get out of the secluded areas. If you come with a car-beware. There are a small number of spots for you to park your car and it is on a first come, first serve basis. I found this out once we checked in. I would have had to find a parking spot on the street. Well, the staff was very nice. We checked in on Jan. 19th a little after 3pm. The spots were all gone. However, the manager who was working at that time was sooo nice. He accommodated us by letting us use a spot held by an employee. The entire staff was great. The employee had to move their car twice as I went out that evening. I wasn't given an attitude at all. Also, we requested a fridge prior to check in but was told the room didn't have one. About twenty minutes after we checked in, room service came to bring us a fridge. Again, the staff is great. But, we decided not to keep it since the room is pretty small. We had two double beds since we came with our two kids. The room was clean but small. Comfortable though. Bed was comfy too. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend this hotel. I didn't rate the food since we ate out. I gave the value rating three stars because of the secluded streets and lack of parking space. But it's still a good hotel. January 25, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by You might not get what you reserved I reserved a 2 beds room for 3 persons 3 months in advance. When I got there, they did not have any 2 beds available (which makes no sense). They gave me a room with only one Queen bed and said they would bring an air mattress. Later, they called me to say that they did not have any air mattress left so we had to be 3 persons in one Queen bed. The next night, they found a room with 2 beds, but they still charged me for the 2 beds room and only gave me free parking for the inconvenience. That is simply unacceptable to not provide what was reserved and not even call to tell me in advance so that I can go elsewhere. January 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great if you don't have a car! Room on the small side, but got a good night's sleep, which is unheard of for me for the first night in a strange place. Free Wi-Fi Everything excellent save two: (1) There may be some heart healthy breakfast choices (fruit, yogurt), but most everything else is rather pedestrian--breakfast sausage, eggs, cereal, English muffin, pancake machine...the usual drill. (2) There are 100+ rooms and only 19 parking spaces! I lucked out and got the last one. I didn't research on-street parking, but it's "alternate side", with parking banned from midnight to 3 a.m. Parking CANNOT BE reserved. For this reason, it is unlikely I'd stay here again without doing some serious research into other parking options. Otherwise, it's why I like HIE: a good, clean room (The single king room was small, but I wasn't there to spend time in the room. Just to sleep.) at a fair price. January 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by NOISE THERE WAS CONSTANT NOISE OUTSIDE MY ROOM AS THE STAFF WAS SERVICING OTHER ROOMS.I WAS GRANTED LATE CHECK-OUT,WHICH WAS MUCH NEEDED,BUTAS I WAS CATCHING UP ON SOME SLEEP ,THERE CAME A VERY LOUD BANG BANG ON MY DOOR.WHEN I GOT UP TO ANSWER THE LOUD KNOCK,THERE STANDING A MAN WITH A PAD AND PEN RECORDING SOMETHING AS HE SAYS TO ME,DO YOU KNOW THAT ITS CHECK-OUT TIME? I REPLIED THAT I HAD LATE CHECK-OUT AS WAS REQUESTED AT CHECK - IN.HE WENT ON TO QUESTION ME,ASKING ME DID I CALL DOWNSTAIRS.I AGAIN SAID TO HIM THAT IT WAS TAKEN CARE OF AT THE TIME OF CHECK -IN.ONLY THEN DID HE LEAVE,WITHOUT EVEN AN APOLOGY.THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT IVE STAYED AT THIS HOTEL,THAT IVE ENCOUNTED THIS SAME BEHAVIOR.NEVER ENCOUNTED THIS AT ANY OTHER HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Front Desk Staff is GREAT Brian at the front desk was amazing! I have never written a review on anything before, but Brian's attention to detail, willingness to help and amazingly positive attitude is cause for a positive review! Brian, thank you so much for accommodating my requests and making my stay relaxing and enjoyable. December 11, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT PLACE TO STAY I STAY AT HOLIDAY INN BROOKLYN ONCE A WEEK ROOM IS ALWAYS READY AND VERY CLEAN STAFF ALWAYS READY TO HELP WITH WHATEVER I MAY NEED PLEANTY OF GREAT PLACES TO EAT WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE December 1, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff and good chocolate chip cookies. The staff have been uniformly intelligent and helpful in my three visits to this Express. Special recommendation for "Manny" as particularly helpful. The chocolate chip cookies are a nice welcoming touch. The most important improvement would be setting aside at least a small workout space. November 29, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wanted to Stay Longer, but Was Forced To Check Out Our experience was very good and the Front Desk Staff was very supportive of all of our needs. Unfortunately when our air flight was cancelled, this hotel was unable to extend our stay another evening. This caused us to find another hotel that was $100 more per night. Oh well, however our next hotel extended our stay for 3 more nights as we continued to have flight delays, without any hassle. November 3, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't expect much, but they failed that as well. Our flight got in early and we knew we couldn't check in until 3pm. We called and asked if any rooms were available so that we could check in early, they said not yet but to call back after 11am when the rooms have been cleaned. Eventually we got into our room, but no until after 4pm... The room was a single king bed and it was very cramped, we could barley move around. Our room ended up being in the basement, called level C instead of B. Probably to make people not feel as bad. Upon walking into our room there was dirty linen all over the hallway. We couldn't even walk around it and ended up complaining. They then took another hour to clean it up. Finally go t into our room at 5pm. The breakfast was probably the best complimentary I have ever had though. During our stay it was impossible to sleep because the staff was very loud walking through the halls and cleaning. Even during the late and early hours of the day. Very painful. Our room while it was clean didn't have a working TV or blow driver. I would never stay at this place again. Although, other members of our group stayed in another Holiday in a couple blocks down the street and they had a great experience. I guess the staff here, but made everything painful. Enjoy your stay. November 3, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend In Brooklyn We are Platinum Rward Memebers and stayed here on points. We read many mixed reviews about this hotel on different sites but were pleasently surprised with our visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Although, the hotel isn't in the prettiest location it is very safe. We walked to the train and to downtown Brooklyn many times with no issues or unsafe feelings. The rooms are small but that is expected for the city. Breakfast was ok. We have had better at other Holiday Inns but we always found something. September 21, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel only a bit too pricy This is a great hotel, it has a good location, breakfast, staff and everything. I do think it is too pricy for what it is though. September 9, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by setting the industry standards one thing that i learned about staying at hotels, the staff makes or breaks your stauy with them and there are none better at taking care of the customers needs and go out of thier way for thier customers than brooklyn holiday inn butler street. walking in and being greeted by saphires warm smile and friendly attitude is just the beginning of all the people here that go above and beyond for thier customers September 7, 2012
