Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by bjnewness Excellent customer service!
We are Priority Club members with Holiday Inn and we have stayed at a number of Holiday Inns...but we have NEVER experienced the incredible customer service this hotel staff offered throughout our stay. The minute we arrived (a few hours early), the front desk rearranged some rooms so that we could check in early; our smoke detector in our room malfunctioned late one night and they immediately opened another room for us to sleep in (without having to move all our things to the other room - returning to our room first thing in the morning) while they fixed the detector. Every morning a staff member made sure everyone in the breakfast area was served and taken care of - including passing out complimentary bottled water to each and every person eating breakfast. The front desk staff (Karess, Christina and Terrance) were amazing. They were attentive to our needs, quick to offer assistance or directions around town, and wore constant smiles. Even the manager came by during one of our breakfasts and asked were we having a pleasant stay. We give this hotel a HUGE thumbs up!!!!

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was very accomodating. Christina was wonderful. She actually helped me to my room and unloaded my cart. It was way beyond the call of duty and I really appreciated her efforts.
The parking was a little inconvenient but I know it is New York!
I did actually recommend this property to my co-workers.

The hotel is well staffed and the staff are wonderful. The location is perfect. Lots of very good restaurants and other shops in the immediate area. Close to everything including the subway. Breakfast is about average, Hot Food Choices, Pastries, coffee is good. Rooms are on the small side but very clean and comfortable. For the money it is a good deal.

Very clean facility and very friendly staff. A very economical alternative to Manhattan - plus I discovered the shopping and dining in Brooklyn so appealing I was reluctant to cross the bridge.

The staff was real accomodating especially Tasha. It was a real pleasure seeing her smiling face in the morning, making sure that everything was ok, making sure that we had our water as we left to work. Like i was once told " its's not the big things but the small thing that people do that make you feel important", and she did that everyday that we were there.

Stayed here again and had absolutely no regrets! Even in the farenheit teens the room was warm and cosy. Clean, friendly, quiet and very near the R train for onward travel. Change at Dekalb to get the Q train to the city with great views as you cross the river above ground!
Manager very attentive and present at breakfast to talk to guests - don't get that very often!
Only gripe would be that there needs to be more of a fruit option at breakfast. There were hard whole apples, oranges (very hard to peel!) and bananas(overripe), but a simple fruit salad prepared to go with the great yoghourt choice would be even better. The plastic knives didn't do much to apples - broke three trying to cut and peel! Needs sorting.
But hey, a real gem and if they can keep the price reasonable, this will be our NYpreference.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DCDeb Had a relaxing stay!
The hotel is great, and the location is convenient . I was greeted by Terrance. He was friendly and professional, and gave me information about the area dining options. They also have menus at the front desk. The building is very secure and all visitors are announced. I liked that. The parking is not so good, because of the limited spaces (first come, first serve), so I had to move the car.. (Not happy about that, since it was not mentioned on the site at all, but the lot is just down the street, although it would have been nice to know before I parked in the back. You might want to call before you arrive to check on the parking status, save yourself the hassle. Overall this is a very nice hotel, the room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the pillows are nice. The decor is not up to date, but it was clean. The desk chair was stuck in low, and the arm chair was not comfy to me. One thing I did notice is the hall carpet could use shampooing. Smelled like a gym, or old sneakers. I saw cleaning crews everywhere, so they do clean, but like I said there was a slight odor in the hall, but not in the room. I will go back again, and I will tell others. Also I had leave early in the morning so I did not go to breakfast, but the dining area was also very clean and inviting.

We love the breakfasts, the service is friendly, and the bed is comfortable.
We were unhappy because at 9 am one morning, the water was cold, and we waited 45 minutes for it to get warm. The next day, hoping to avoid the problem, we showered about noon, and the water was cold again.
The room was also dusty in the corners.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lisa224 Room uncomfortably hot
The room temp was 75 and with the air blowing and the windows open I could only get it down to 73.
Needless to say the hustle and bustle of the noise kept me up all night long. Room temp should be able to be controlled more specific to the rooms. While I recognize that it was warmer than usual for the time of year in NYC, it was unbearable and impossible to sleep.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Margie0819 Helpful Staff
The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was there over 2 months working for FEMA. They always greeted you, looked up info and were happy to see you. Great breakfast, beds and linens.
I was in a basement room and 3 times reported that after rain the floor by the wall gets wet. They were crowded most of the time (disaster and holidays) and I did not insist on moving because it was very quiet location but would have moved if they had asked and offered assistance in moving things. They were suppose to send someone to check the problem. Each time the maintenance man checked it saw that it was wet and said send they would look into it. They never did. I believe they knew of the issue and since I am an easy customer they let it ride. I worked 12 hr days 6/7 days a week. With hotels at a premium for the disaster I wasn't moving.
There was also a hole in the side wall and the plug was pulling away from the wall. The whole room may have issues from the water. Maids could dust better.
I was there over 2 months and they never even offered moving me to a nicer room.
It is a NY hotel and I heard of other people's stay in other city hotels with extremely small rooms and I usually don't complain but you should look into the water damage before they forget.

We often visit Brooklyn to see our grandchildren and always stay at the HIE. It is convenient, well run, and the staff is polite and attentive. The rooms are snug but comfortable and very clean with hardly any signs of wear. The breakfast offers variety and is good. We will return.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Marlene30 Warm welcome on a rainy, cloudy day.
The staff welcomed us when we arrived from the airport hours before check-in. They offered to hold our luggage while we started exploring. Our room was very comfortable, the breakfast was great, the staff met all our needs with a smile. The room was very quiet, never heard the heat or fan come on. They even assisted with printing boarding passes. We will definitely come again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Signjrf Nice property, not such great value
Very nice, clean relatively new property. Same fixtures I have seen in other Holiday Inn Express, but sometimes shrunken versions to fit in the tiny room. Also the same breakfast, which is always a plus. The staff was great. Still a lot of money for outside Manhattan and such small rooms.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by AmyS30 fantastic service
We arrived late on a very busy weekend and the hotel was full. They put us in a basement room, and then the room next to the breakfast area. It was the best they could do, and the staff was SO sympathetic and helpful. On the second night they found us a good room and moved all our stuff for us while we were out for the day. We had pre-paid a non-refundable rate, but when the guest room at my daughter's opened up, they graciously refunded the last two nights. Very impressive.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LouiseGC conveniece and location
We have been staying here ever since it opened. It is in an ideal location, next to Park Slope, my relatives and now it is right near the new stadium. It doesn't have frills we don't need and everything we do need like a comfort and a great included breakfast, where you can have as little or as much as you want, and everything you might want at the time you want it. For the area the price is also right.
The rooms are a bit small, so we go for one king size bed , because rooms with 2 queen beds leave no room for a desk or extra chair.
The lower floors are also a bit better because you can use the stairs, instead of waiting for the one elevator which is in constant use.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TFK11 Great Place to Stay in Brooklyn
We thoroughly enjoy our stay at HIX on 625 Union Street. The staff is amazing. I have never felt so welcome and attended to by hotel staff. From receptionists to cleaning crews. Receptionist by the name of Winsome is extremely helpful. We called for help in adjusting the thermo stat and also asked for extra blanket. We were called back twice to ask if we have received the blanket and also if we were able to adjust the thermostat. I have never had this kind of service even in a four star hotel. Both my husband and I are happy with the choice of this HIX in Brooklyn. I told Winsome, her name should be Win them ALL.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lenny53 common area television choices
We checked out of our room in a timely fashion and the front desk held our bags as we spent the rest of our day in Brooklyn. We arrived back to watch a NFL football game in the area where there is a Television (Breakfast area) and found the channels for local programing (which carried the football game) were not available on this television. The stations were available in the rooms . . . very dissapointing. Had to lug our bags three blocks to watch in a bar.
On a positive note. Excellent front desk staff on all shifts.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AdmssnCnslr Service was Great!
First time that I stayed at a hotel and actually had the manager, Brandon, personally ask me about my stay and then see him the next day helping to serve the breakfast and clean the breakfast area. Alos all of the staff were friendly and seemed to learn all of the customers names. Also location is great! Would definitely recommend staying here, easy access to anywhere in Brooklyn, close to Barclay's Center, and easy access to Subway straight to Manhattan. Plenty of hotel and street parking!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Summerof2012 Our Summer at The HIE
Due to an unfortunate circumstance, we were forced to move out of our apartment for an extended period of time this summer. The Holiday Inn Express was the closest hotel to our neighborhood, so we decided to book an extended stay. We spent most of the summer staying at the hotel. The overall experience was incredible. We are forever grateful to the hotel and the hotel staff for making our stay so comfortable and pleasurable. We will always remember the summer we spent at The HIE!
Thank you!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by memmv Very nice but...
The hotel was very clean and convenient to the Park Slope area. Staff was very helpful. Big concern though-when asked to call a cab for my daughter and son-in-law at midnight, an indie cab showed up and they were way over-charged. Call your own taxi!

Nice room, small (like all NYC rooms), but comfortable and clean. Staff was helpful and polite. Continental breakfast had a pancake machine, one push of a button and you had hot pancakes. There are some good restaurants within walking distance, ate at one named Palo Santo, very good. Checkout was quick and simple. Would recommend staying here.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ParentsVisitingDaughter Visit to Brooklyn for Easy Access to Manhattan and Brooklyn
We chose this hotel to be close to our daughter in Brooklyn. We wanted to be able to travel to see her neighborhood plus travel to Manhattan to see sights and a show at the People's Improvisational Theater (The PIT). We took a cab to the hotel. The front desk called cars for us to get around, very nice to work with them. Very friendly and helpful. room was clean and comfortable, size about what you expect for NYC. The hotel is just a block from a subway stop; the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is a quick car ride away. Had brunch at Flatbush Farm and late lunch at 200 Fifth, just short walks away. Front desk watched our bags after we checked out, no problem. The breakfast food was typical for Holiday Inn Express, not fancy but most people would be able to find something to eat. I would stay here again. We did not worry about the parking lot since we taxied.

I have rental property in Brooklyn so when I come to town to check on it I stay at HIE. I like this one but not the one on Butler Place. I prefer the Union Street location because it just feels better and the noise level is better. The only thing I can think of for improvement is the elevator service.
