My wife and I stayed at numerous hotels & motels, and there aren't to many we can brag about, but this Holiday inn Express was up to our standards, and we are overall very meticulous, there wasn't to much to complain about if any. It was superb, king size bed was very comfortable, room was very quiet, Even gave us a bottle of water to take with us at breakfast, we thought that was a nice touch, for it was hot outside. we really would definitely stay at this hotel again, price was reasonable compared to others in the area. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Small rooms and expensive parking Rooms are extremely small, barely enough room to get luggage cart in and out to load and unload. 1 elevator for a 9 floor hotel, and it's VERY slow. $30 for parking and it's not valet or even secured. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brooklyn HIE You can't do anything to improve the experience really. It's Brooklyn. The room was expensive, lots of hidden fees (taxes). The room was small. The AC was constant. The elevator was small. Front desk got us transportation quickly! I just don't like Brooklyn, urban settings, noise, etc. It would have been great to have a shuttle/transport to and from the airports when we arrived at LaGuardia. Instead I did over an hour of bus, subways, walking after flying for over 20 hours from Alaska. I was absolutely beat when I arrived. Considering your location, you guys are doing the best you can I suppose. July 2, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by convenient hotel Really nice staff who know that most of the people who stay there don't know much about New York. Very helpful in offering directions and calling for cabs. Nice breakfast selection with lots of varieties. Warning though - rooms next to the elevator might be noisy! Also, there's only one elevator for the entire building (staff and guests use the same elevator) so allow extra time when getting up and down stairs. June 28, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay My husband and I stay here often. It is close to Manhattan by subway and the subway is close to the hotel. The area restaurants are getting much better. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I lost my umbrella and they gave me one to use for the rest of our stay. The cleaning and breakfast staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are actually pretty decent size for NYC. There are 2 things that could be improved. The air conditioning is hard to control. It seems that it is cold or stuffy. Maybe better instructions would help. Also, more fresh fruit choices and some plain yogurt and oatmeal choices would be good for those of us who don't eat a heavy or sugary breakfast. June 8, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nice staff, but lousy hotel The staff was very friendly and nice to work with. Quick to respond to needs. Had to request extra set of towels since were short one set. The room was clean but small. Very crowded with 2 double beds, 2 chairs, desk chair and table. No refrigerator or microwave (small print states not all rooms have them). One elevator for 9 floors. TV didn't work right and had to be replaced. Sink drain broken and wouldn't hold water with stopper down. One bath towel a large hole in it. One morning unable to get on the Internet because "too many subscribers logged on" for about 3 hours. Beds were comfortable. Overpriced. May 14, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Eh After a long drive and day of work, the last thing you want to hear is "Your room in on the 9th floor, our elevator doesn't work." I know the staff cannot control that happening, but there should have been some sort of compensation, not an aw shucks, sorry you are on the top floor and our elevator is broken. No elevator (out of service) and having a room on 7th floor, Really? Staff should be calling all guests and give them an advance notice about an issue like this and giving option of finding another room in a hotel nearby. How its possible that I was never contacted either by email or by phone when I am IHG Reward Member and I am doing a Corporate hotel room booking and your Staff has all our contact information already. I cant help to criticize this hotel POOR Management to take action and advice all guest about this situation. I checked in around 4pm and elevator had a sign already stating that it was out of service. WHY staff never contact us (All guest) I have future reservations for IHG properties in the month of May (19-23 May) and I am seriously considering to choose another option just based in how unprofessional was all this elevator issue handled by this Property management. Besides a Sorry at the moment of Check in, nothing else was mentioned for this tremendous inconvenient of being in a 9 floors building WITH an OUT OF SERVICE elevator. This was BAD... this was TERRIBLE!! May 3, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good value for the money This hotel is very close to Union St. subway station, but a bit hard to find, so you have to look carefully. My son and I had a great time relaxing in the large (by NY standard) room we had. The bedroom and bathroom were both very clean. Breakfast is the same as what other HIE properties offer, which was what we had expected. The check in and check out processes were smooth and efficient. Business center could have more than one set of computer equipment (we had to wait). The HVAC was a little hard to control - we had to either turn off or be too hot. Overall, a great value if you are willing to stay outside Manhattan. March 25, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing I booked a room at the HIE this past weekend. When I booked it I booked it with a jacuzzi . When I got to the hotel the receptionist looked at the reservation on the computer then she got one of the other reps to look at it. Then she gave me and my boyfriend the key to the room. When we got to the room we didn't see the jacuzzi there. So we call the front desk to tell her that we reserved a room with a jacuzzi. She told me that she will call me back. Then a half and hour later we called the front desk again and she said the jacuzzi room wasn't available because the person in the room decided to stay an extra night. That is very unprofessional to me because if I booked the room ahead of time with a jacuzzi I expected to get the room that I asked for. Plus I didn't like the fact that the receptionist didn't tell me that the room wasn't available. She just gave my boyfriend and I a key like she didn't think that we would have noticed it. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. This was unsatisfactory to me. February 12, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brooklyn-Union experience My stay at Holiday Inn was terrific. The staff was very polite and very helpful. Upon my arrival I was warmly greeted at the front desk. The lady walked me through the checkin process. She offered valuable information with a smile. The room was clean and cozy. The breakfast room was clean and well stocked. The selection could use some improvements. Add some cereals that are less sugary and more healthy products overall. The breakfast room attendant was pleasant and courteous, providing bottles of water to all. The general manager runs a tight ship and should be commended for his efforts. This is one of the best Holiday Inn experiences I have had. Thank you! February 10, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by overall experience Rooms are small but comfortable.. its NY so it isnt a surprise. However, it was clean, comfortable, has nicely decorated interior and was quiet. Ask for the rooms with Jacuzzi tubs... they are big enough for two people. The only thing this hotel needs is a faster elevator. There's only one and its slow. This wouldnt be enough to keep me away. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Snow storm in NY Stayed at this location because it was near the Brooklyn cruise terminal & I left the next day to sail on the Queen Mary 2.It was also half a block from the subway station. The hotel was everything I would expect from a HI Express, great location for what I needed, breakfast included in the price, clean & quiet room. The staff made all the difference. They recommended a terrific restaurant across the street for dinner. There was quite a bit of snow when I woke up in the morning and when I asked the front desk if there would be a problem getting to the terminal they volunteered to order a cab for us for noon. The lobby was mobbed with people departing and checking in and the front desk staff remained cheerful and helpful throughout. January 13, 2014
