Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great front desk staff, room needs help. Staff, especially front desk (Juan R.) was very nice, polite, and helpful. Hotel on other hand, was under renovation, and needed a lot of work. Price was good given current hotel condition and promised state of renovation. Probably would not stay here again until work is completed. July 20, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel lleno Mis padres decidieron ir a la Isla del Padre en la semana del 4 de julio y a pesar que yo les comenté era una mala idea, puesto a que los hoteles en la isla estarían llenos, ellos acordaron ir porque eran los únicos días que podían ir. Como siempre, yo traté de acomodarlos en Holiday Inn, porque conozco su calidad y siempre que nos quedamos puedo acumular puntos que he utilizado en diversas ocasiones. La reservación se hizo sin problema desde mi teléfono celular y todo parecía iba a ir muy bien, yo los alcanzaría el día sábado para aydarlos a manejar de regreso a Monterrey; mi papá tiene un problema en su rodilla, por eso los ayudé. El día viernes recibí una llamada de una empleada de Holiday Inn a mi oficina, donde me estaba "exigiendo" que salieramos de la habitación, ya que mi reservación era hasta el día 4, según ella; le comenté que en mi celular yo podía ver mi reservación hasta el domingo, por lo que debía estar mal, y ella continuo insistiendo de una manera bastante grosera que abandonara la habitación. Los que se encontraban de viaje eran mis padres, mi hermana y mi sobrina de 8 meses, claro que me molesté porque el solo hecho de pensar en ella me enfureció y el ver como la señorita no parecía importarle que podía ser un error. Ella me comunicó con la gerente y ella accedío a que nos quedaramos, pero en un tono haciendolo parecer que nos estaban haciendo un favor, siendo que yo siempre he escogido a HLE y esta ocasión no fue excepcion. Al llegar el sábado a McAllen mis papás me comentaron que un desk clerk llamado Bernardo o Fernando fue muy grosero con ellos y de igual manera quería que dejaran la habitacion, a pesar que le enseñaron la pantalla de reservación del mismo; la verdad esto molesto mucho a mis papás y los dos siguientes días, viernes y sábado los estados de cuenta de check out estuvieron llegando a la puerta como presionando para que se fueran. He estado en muchos Holiday Inn en varias partes del mundo y a pesar que siempre los selecciono porque son un buen hotel y la calidad es excelente, esta vez decepcionaron a mi familia con su actitud. Mi padre ya no quiso ir a la Isla a llevar por primera vez a mi sobrina de 8 meses porque se sintío mal de la actitud del personal, la verdad se sintió muy presionado y no nos acompaño. Igual no es algo que sea de importancia para algunos, pero las estancias en los hoteles se hacen en base a recuerdos, y este no va a ser un buen recuerdo para él. July 7, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great price, decent hotel I stayed in this hotel to save the mark up on South Padre island hotels. This hotel, while not new is in decent shape and provides a decent free breakfast and is about 30 minutes from the beach. It is around several good restaurants, stores and a mall, so it is very easy to get anything you need! This isn't the best Holiday Inn Express I've stayed at, but for the location I would stay again. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable but under construction The hotel was undergoing some major renovations and that should have been noted as I was making my reservations. The room was ready but there was a chemical smell that must have been from the new carpet in the room and the new installations that were going on down the hall. I believe that if a hotel is going through renovations then this should be noted and that the rate should be lower during this stay. June 22, 2014
