Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Stayed in January 2014 for daughter's first school visit at WTAMU. Came back for orientation summer 2014 and stayed again. Will definitely continue to stay here over and over again. Staff very friendly, very clean rooms, comfortable beds and descent breakfast. They will have our business for the next 4 years when we come into town! July 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressed We were impressed with how convenient not only the location of this hotel was but also how the room itself was equipped (with microwave and fridge). Plus, the bathroom (though a bit outdated in style and toilet and faucet handles were coming loose - and plunger to sink was not working) had nice toiletries. The pool was nice and clean, but the hot tub was low and not circulating - so we did not use it. The workout room was nice to have. The breakfasts were the same each day, but we were happy to have it - and the taste was fine. The worker in there needed another helper but she was so efficient. Overall, we were VERY pleased and the staff was very nice (my daughter said one person wasn't as receptive when she asked for towels, but everyone else was great). We would definitely come back and were kind of sad to leave our home away from home. - Room 111 (interestingly enough, though the room was on the first floor and near the dining, it was extremely quiet and blocked out the noise. actually - great location!). We used the breakfast area (and TV) for playing games at night, etc. July 22, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stay but a Tired Hotel.. We enjoyed our two night stay recently at the Canyon Holiday Inn. Our room was clean, the AC worked well. This is an older hotel, there was no maintenance on the outside of this hotel. The shrubs and flowerbeds had long since been abandoned. The tile upon entering the hotel was scuffed and had not been cleaned in a while and the large trash can outside the door was overflowing the whole time we were there. The staff was friendly, but we never got a chance to eat at the breakfast area, it was small and overflowing with people standing along empty spaces to eat their breakfast. When in our room during the day we kept hearing HUGE rattlings in the wall lasting a long time. Finally we figured out it must be the elevator. At nightime when everyone was asleep this was not a problem. We came back to our room on our second day and I thought my son had made the beds, he did not... My 7 year old Grandaughter could of made a bed better. It was really kind of funny. They did not even take the blanket which was at the bottom of the bed and put it back in it's normal spot. It was ok, maybe the housekeepers daughter was helping out her Mom that day. There was no need to complain, but had already stayed at 9 hotels on our long trip and it was kind of comical. Over all, if you are wanting a "clean room" close to Palo Duro Canyon, this will serve your purposes. July 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place! We arrived in Canyon earlier than planned - and didn't expect our room to be ready but stopped by the HIE anyway. Staff on duty was extremely friendly and helpful...gave us directions to various restaurants and promised to call us as soon as our room was ready. Within the hour she called to tell us we could check in. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. July 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable beds not too friendly staff Hotel is decently new and nice. Staff did not have room keys ready upon arrival. Then only gave one set of keys had to remind staff that I had two reservations. At no time was I ever recognized as being an IHG member much less that I was platinum elite. I was informed when I asked about a welcome gift that IHG as a company sent out a memo notified hotels that they are no longer to offer welcome gifts to member and that our new gift was more points, yet I stayed at a different IHG property a weekend before and was recognized as being platinum and room was ready and welcome gift was waiting upon arrival. I would say staff could use some additional training on hospitality and this could be a great property. July 15, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location The location of the hotel, adjacent to the university and a straight 12-mile shot from Palo Duro Canyon, are beneficial both to the guest and the hotel. For the hotel, location and high demand drive the price; for the guest, the hotel as an experience doesn't justify the price, especially when compared to other locations in this brand. We thought certain minor touches could have made a difference, such as pulling the weeds around the entryway, wiping breakfast tables when customers leave, installing vent fans in the bathrooms, and ABOVE ALL improving the weak, slow wireless connection. Breakfast was very crowded and understaffed; in fact, the very nice lady managing the breakfast managed to be friendly while working nonstop. There were too many people for the space. July 8, 2014
