Hotel was clean and comfortable. The only downfall is that they charge your credit card prior to checking in and when you check in. Which is WRONG. If they already have their funds prior to check in why put a hold on the same amount when you check in??
If it wasn't for that this hotel is a good place to stay.

I travel a lot for business and have noticed a wide range of quality from the various Holiday Inn Express properties around the country. The one in Canyon was not impressive. There is a general feeling of neglect within the property. The elevator sounded as if it might fail catastrophically at any moment. Staff were unavailable when needed and were not friendly. The room was generally clean but had an underlying grimy feeling to it. Beds were uncomfortable, pillows were not comfortable and the other guests were loud late into the night. Towels were not as clean looking as they should have been. If you're thinking of staying at the HIEX in Canyon, think again.

This hotel is in the perfect location right outside of Canyon, TX and right in the middle of WT's campus. Its also very near I-27 for fast and efficient travel wherever you're going. The staff are super friendly and the hotel itself is brand new! You can't beat the location for this price. Other hotels in the area just don't compare. I highly recommend this hotel!!

We have stayed here several times and have always been happy. This time the staff went WAY out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Our 18 month old granddaughter became ill with a stomach bug and the staff was so nice to her and helpful to us that it was unbelievable. Thanking them is not enough. They were all great.

Mattress was not comfortable at all and woke with back pain. The room was very clean. The hair dryer was cheap and not that great. The room temperature was hard to maintain at a comfortable level. Cost of the room was a bit pricey. The one employee I came into contact with was very nice and helpful. The computer system at check-in was EXTREMELY slow and not convenient for the employee.

We were in town for a wedding, and this hotel hosted the wedding room block. My two most important actors for judging a stay is cleanliness and comfort, and The Holiday Inn Express Canyon surpassed my expectations and delivered on both those counts. The room was immaculate, and the mattress/bedding/pillows were all very comfortable. The room decor is also updated, which is always nice. The only somewhat problematic area was the heating/cooling unit. It was hard to find a good balance. If you turned the unit off, it became a little too cool for comfort but when you set the unit to low heat on the least amount of red (heat), the room would get too hot in a short amount of time. Overall, this did not impact our visit very much. The hotel's main areas were clean and comfortable as well. It was nice to have a breakfast included; however, the offerings were slim and could be slightly improved. If you are in Canyon, I would certainly recommend this hotel.

This was a 4000 mile trip for us and we stayed ONLY at Holiday Inn hotels. This was the only reservation that I DID NOT secure over the phone with the Priority Club operator. But I was surprised that my name and address did not give the girl at the desk any of my Priority Club information. I ran to the car and did a quick search. Luckily, I found my Priority Club card. When she had my number, all was fine. I was ready to get on my phone right there in the lobby to make the reservation.
Maybe this was a glitch in the computer system. I don't know. But all ended well.

I had booked a room in advance and by time for travel more people joined us. I booked threw IHG and I called them at the last minute to try and up grade they said hotel had nothing available but gave me the number to call them. Super suprised they gave us a 2 bd- 2 bath w/ a pull out it was Great cause our group went from 4 to 6 people. Staff was terrific couldn't have ask for anymore happy and curtious people. Thank you all for the Great Stay.

This is, by far, the BEST suite I've ever stayed in. It's so spacious. The beds were super comfortable! I will definitely be planning on staying in this Suite again!

Everything was as expected from Holiday Inn Express. Very convenient to Palo Duro Canyon, clean and comfortable. We did hit a busy time with the school home coming and the parade plus The Gatlin Bros concert but all that was handled very well and we were told in advance to expect traffic and a closed road. Staff was very helpful.

Within 4 nights of each other we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Amarillo South and Holiday Inn Express Canyon. Amarillo South far exceeds Canyon. Well worth the 10 minute drive to Amarillo. Horrible atmosphere. We were terribly disappointed and feel ripped off. The washing machines rattled us awake. No recognition for IHG Rewards Club Members, either. The only positive was that the day shift staff was very friendly and offered to be accommodating as we were on our way out the door.

We stayed in Canyon on 8/19/2013 to visit Palo Duro Canyon and to go through the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum. This hotel is on the same road as both of these attractions. When we made the reservations on line, we noticed that they had a large 2 bedroom/2bath suite which was perfect for the three of us traveling together. Room 324 had a king bedroom, a queen bedroom with its own bath, and a sleeper sofa, along with a kitchen area with microwave, sink, and fridge. Three flat screen TVs. There is a full service restaurant right next door. Everything in this hotel was wonderful - the room, the beds and pillows, the breakfast, the front desk service!

We have stayed here before. Most everything that one needs is available.
There are two things that were unsatisfactory:
1. Our room was over the laundry and at 8am a loud thumping began - very disturbing, this occurred both days. not good.
2. the breakfast area food selections were good; however,
the room area was over crowed both days and seating was relegated the the lobby. Make more space or lodge fewer people!?
we may not stay here again.

Very polite staff and made visit enjoyable. When we checked in the staff was very helpful and very relaxed atmosphere. Was not pushy and took time to check us in and made us feel welcome. Told us about places to see in Canyon and gave us very good directions of how to get there.
Next morning she even remembered us and gave us a big smile and asked about our evening. Made you feel like you were welcome and not a bother.

The room was very nice and comfortable. The breakfast was great with nice selection. The staff, however, left much to be desired. Things were missing from our refrigerator and the hotel manager didn't seem too concerned. Also, not too concerned that cleaning person barged in to our room without knocking, saw us there and quickly retreated!!! To be fair, the manager took $12 off our bill. No apology just a $12 credit. Would never return or recommend!!!

Everything was great with this stay except for the breakfast room. It was crowded throughout the morning. Perhaps it was because there were many people there for a school reunion. The location of the coffee was hard to find because it was separate from the rest of the breakfast. Perhaps this was so those wanting only coffee would not add to the congestion in the breakfast line.

Platinum status not very meaningful here. When checking in was told, "sorry, we ran out of bottled water so don't have anything to give you". Only reason I said "yes" to recommending the property is because it is closest hotel to Palo Duro Canyon and it's acceptable for a night.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was clean and well stocked. Our granddaughter slept on the sofa bed, which made the room a little crowded but not too bad. She enjoyed the indoor pool. I could recommend the hotel with only one reservation. The coffee we made in our room tasted funny. I'm assuming it was the water. The free coffee at breakfast was delicious, as were the other breakfast items.

Clean rooms, indoor pool nice.....not for noisy kids. Breakfast ends kinda early and you are rushed to finish.......did not like that. Overall good stay.

Room was fantastic, would stay again just because of the room.
Elevator is scary, makes alot of noise. Biggest issue was front desk staff. At check in around 4pm, was a line at desk. You could hear desk clerk talking to a friend (gossiping) from the room behind the desk. The man in front of me lost his cool and starting shouting to get her attention. She came out and said she was sorry and didn't hear anyone come in. I sat on the couch patiently and watched. It took 15/20 minutes until it was my turn. I am not angry, it was just sad. The girl couldn't answer anyone's questions and kept telling people the manager would be there later. She seemed oblivious to the fact everyone was irritated, she did not represent your hotel well. Check out was a different woman, I think a manager. She was very helpful and courteous. I didn't think it was productive to complain about the check-in. Our stay was great, just the wrong person at the desk during check in.
