Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A bit pricey but a wonderful experience overall... We visited the Holiday Inn Sanibel for a three day getaway. Our experience was wonderful and a bit pricey mainly because we picked a premium room. But it was truly worthwhile. Our room was poolside and it was also near the beach both of which we wanted. Some hotels are overlarge but not this one; the facility itself is simple in many ways but nothing important is lacking. This was a very nice hotel for an Island getaway and we will go back to visit this property again. Once, when we returned to our room to find that a bottle of wine had somehow fallen and broken. The hotel staffer who came to our help us clean up the mess was friendly, reassuring, and repeatedly said, "Oh, this is nothing. We've had to deal with bigger issues than this." This is excellent customer service. The "on property" restaurant was excellent too. We had breakfast there once and dinner twice. Although the menu was somewhat limited our meals were uniformly excellent and the restaurant staff was pleasant, inobtrusive and yet attentive. The dining room was charming and almost cozy. The Tiki Bar at poolside was fun too and quite handy! So yes, it was, really that good a hotel and it was worth the money. And we will visit the Holiday Inn Sanibel again! March 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jesus gave caring service with personality We originally stayed for a week in January from snowy Wisconsinin.We traveled Florida and returned to stay again in February. The location is perfect and the front desk staff made it perfect. The pool and bar combination was fun and the beach made the shelling interesting. Godiva Chocolate and cheese just added to the ambiance. We will be back in years to come!!!! February 28, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Location excellent, Restaurant variable, Service ok, THIS HOTEL RUN AS A FRANCHISE! In general we were satisfied. However the restaurant particularly breakfast was not good & VERY inflexible, problem with people speaking English, they said they understood but did not- hence we got the wrong things.. Internet access was not good & the main computer in the lobby allowed you only to print boarding passes!.NO internet access apart from this unless like us you had your iphone or ipad. This was a HI franchise & therefore these additional services are not attended to as in fully owned premises. Perhaps HI should look more closely at their franchised properties. M. We had a great Valentine meal, despite the rain that day, of lobster and steak a good value and we didn't have to drive anywhere. The room was good for our stay and clean. We would stay again and glad to get out of the snow in Minnesota! February 20, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a good choice My wife and I had spent the last two weeks at a Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza, both in Florida. They both hit the mark and as far as service and Priority Club Platinum Status. This hotel did neither. We arrived at 2:30 PM and were told checkn is at 3, no recognition of being a priority club member. My wife and I sat in the lobby and waited. In the interim 2 couples came in and were given thir room assignments. I walked up to the desk where a sign for Gold & Platinum Memebers was leaning against the wall. I asked if this was the area to check in and a lady from the other end of the counter laughed and said come over here. I inquired if their policy as to the recognition of Prioity Club members was different since no room assignment and key were ready upon my arrival. We were first assigned a room with a parking lot view on the first floor. The second had the same view but was on the second floor. The rooms are clean but in dire need of updating. I felt like I was in a roadside budget hotel. This hotel will not see us again nor would I recommend it until they update and train their desk people, February 17, 2013

Loved all the little relaxing nooks to lay in a hammock,sit in the sun or shade. The access to the beach was perfect. The hotel is older but updated. Comfortable beds, big flat screen TVs and refrigs in room. THe staff were friendly and very accomodating We had a perfect vacation. February 16, 2013

The front desk staff was not friendly but everyone else was. We would come back as our over all experience was good. I would have enjoyed a continental breakfast but we did have a small fridge in our room and a microwave which was nice. February 14, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Visit to Sanibel Holiday Inn on 1/28/13 Every year a couple of my friends and myself go over to the west coast from Delray Beach and this year was great. The hotel was remolded and updated with beautiful bright colors. It was a big improvement from last year. We were all so tired we didn't go out for dinner so we stayed on the property and decided to go to the restaurant there and the food was exceptional along with the service. We were all pleased with our visit to Sanibel this year. This is truly a resort destination with the beach, pool and food. We look forward to returning next year. February 4, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Almost perfect! We stayed here for 2 nights just after New Year. Susan from the front desk was absolutely wonderful in welcoming me when I checked in. She made me truly feel welcome, a rare experience when you check in to a hotel these days. Our room was clean, smelled good and the bedding was excellent too. The only thing I have to critize are the shower and the restaurant. Standing under the shower is very difficult to catch some water, so slow the water runs. Women with long hair (like my wife) have trouble getting the shampoo out of their hair. The restaurant is dark and gloomy, the tables are dirty and so are the chairs. You get depressed sitting there, so don't do it and go to Periwinkle Street where you will find an abundance of good places to eat. Leon & Mimi The Netherlands January 12, 2013

This time it was just the two of us down for a wedding on Captiva so I didn't need the extra room or kitchen. Our room was clean and charming. We enjoyed the new Star Bar. The food was great. Danny and Josh were fun and very accomodating. Loved the beach chairs that were put out every morning. Very unpretentious and casual. We took advantage of the bicycles available every day. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unpleasant Surprises At check-in the clerk at the front desk seemed like she couldn't care less if we were there. She told us our room is on the second floor. When we found out there is no elevator, we asked to move to the first floor. She said there are none available, then asked if the second floor is ok. We had no choice! But nobody checked into the first floor rooms! There were vacant all night. Then she hands us a piece of paper to read, and it tells us that we might be bitten by "no-see-ums". Little bugs that bite and cause you to itch. The location is great, but I will never stay at this Holiday Inn again. December 8, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good for relaxing We stayed in one of the suites, which was beautiful and spacious, like staying in a spanish villa, but the a/c made you hot then cold, the pull out couch in the living is not recommended for sleeping on. It was clean, they promptly took care of a backed up sink. The kitchenette was nice. The tissues and toilet paper were like sand paper. The beach was o.k., the pool cold. The restaurant was very pretty and the food was great. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, it was very quiet and relaxing there, almost boring. The computer is only for printing out boarding passes, all other websites are blocked. Not sure why. Bring a portable device or no internet access. There was no music at the pool bar, even friday or saturday night. The desk staff were a little brusque except a couple of people. Free coffee in the lobby was nice. I got a shell collecting bag for being a PCR member but no recognition for platinum status. I could not get an upgrade because I got the best room there, parking was free anyway, so I thought maybe for a platinum member paying for the best room one week maybe they could spring for a couple of breakfast coupons or something, but they wouldn't. I usually get an upgrade to a better room, and/or free parking, and/or free breakfast coupons when I stay at Priority Club hotels, which I do a lot. They did not charge me for 2 bikes I rented when one broke, and had to be walked home quite a ways; that was nice of them. I would suggest going to the Holiday Inn Ft Myers instead. The pool is nicely heated, they have great music friday and saturday, actually everyday I was there during the Sandcastle Contest. The beach there is wider, and sand much whiter and nicer than on Sanibel. They have cottonelle paper products there, I got free breakfast and free chairs AND an umbrella there with my rate, and lots of coupons in my PCR welcome packet for percentages off for various restaurants and businesses, including free coupons for dessert or a free drink at the restaurant there. It was happy hour, two drinks for price of one always there. Also got free tix to the Sandcastle Contest. It was more fun there, but also relaxing too, the music and tiki bar noise stopped by 9pm so you could sleep, and the pool and beach were relaxing during the day. The entire staff there was so friendly and nice, they treated you like friend or family. December 6, 2012

At 7 AM every morning the housekeeping staff pushed their cart past the rooms from one end to the other and every concrete crack that they crossed made a loud noise and there were many. This was an unwanted alarm clock. There was fresh coffee in the lobby, but no hot water or tea. Otherwise the place was great with easy access to the beach and pool. We've stayed here twice and in spite of the drawbacks mentioned would not hesitate to return again. December 6, 2012

Tried to order our FIRST beverage of the season and it was not a positive experience! We wound up going to Cip's and had a great lunch with a MUCH Friendlier experience!!! New Food and beverage service needs to be pre-screened by the GM to ensure guests receive the same great hospitality as the hotel team extends! November 30, 2012

Drove up to Sanibel and was pleasantly suprised with the room being large and very, very comfortable. Stayed 2 nights and explored Sanibel and Captiva. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location! The hotel was a little hard to find as we were first timers on Sanibel. Overall it was a GREAT location. The beach is right behind the hotel. The room was on the small side but OK. The only real problem ( and it shouldn't stop you from staying there# was the sheets on the bed were old and had "pills" from overwashing. The staff is great! The new resturant was OK, BUT....a little overpriced and it felt like they were trying to hard with the food. All the decorations were in the center area and the rest was bare. #still new, so hopefuly will get better)Again the staff was very nice. November 25, 2012

We found this hotel to be perfect for us: clean comfortable rooms, a path to the beautiful beach, and a pool! The setting was quiet and relaxing and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing that could be better was that they have no continental breakfast but have an expensive resteraunt on premises so at least they could give discount to guests. Very nice beach location. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by no restaurant and no pool bar The restaurant and pool bar were both closed for remodeling during our stay. Not only that but we had to lisen to the construction of the remodel. Someone should have contacted us so we could have made other reservations elsewhere. We have stayed here before and knew there was a restaurant and pool bar. It is nice not having to leave the hotel so you can relax. We were disappointed we had to leave for lunch and dinner.
