Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great relaxing time. Everything was great, except the hot breakfast offerings. On previous stays, the food was much fresher, better. The price increase is understandable with the oil field workers paying much more that was previously expected. I will stay there on my future trips to Carlsbad. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff The staff at this hotel was wonderful. They were welcoming and had great recommendations for dinner. We left two jackets in the closet in our room and when I called they found them and shipped them to us promptly. This hotel is in an area where room prices are off the charts. Had I not used points, but had to pay the going rate, it would have been a real disappointment as it's a standard HI Express with the standard amenities. All hotels in the area are priced similarly. Only one problem I had with this room--It seemed like it had been smoked in--then with not keeping the A/C on with hot days--the room was very musty, almost mildew smell. Once again, it could have been much worse--It's like food, for the most part I don't care how much it cost as long as it's what I want..Every once in a while you get a little disappointed. Take the good with the bad.. October 28, 2014
