We have stayed in this Holiday Inn Express many times. It is ideal. The staff have always been helpful and very friendly. The rooms are always clean. The room we stayed in this time was newly renovated with very nice style and colors. The easy and affordable transportation into Manhattan is key. It is very clean, which is always top on my priority list. We have NEVER had a bad experience with this hotel, and will continue to recommend it to anyone who is planning a cheap trip to the big apple.

we stayed here for 4 nights between christmas and new years. we took the bus into nyc everyday. the bus is located across the street and runs regularly throughout the day and late night. usual wait time for bus was about 15 minutes, both in front of hotel at 42nd street bus authority in nyc, where they drop you off. hotel was pretty full when we were there. parking was easy, breakfast a bit crowded at times, but they provide foam trays to take your food up to your room. staff were all very nice and attentive. rooms were clean and quiet. i will stay here again when i am in the area.

Although this hotel is in a more industrial area, it is a very nice property with clean rooms and an excellent staff. In particular, Mariano was an exemplary employee and could not have been more cheerful and helpful. As an out of town tourist he provided great insights about the city and more importantly very clear directions on how to use the bus into and out of the Port Authority Terminal. (You take the 163 bus from about a block from the hotel right into Manhattan and just reverse it going home...take the LOCAL...total cost is $8.50 per person round trip and it is EASY!). The room was nice and clean and the breakfast bar was well stocked and organized with no lines at all. The pancake machine was broken which was a bummer for us, but certainly not the end of the world!
I highly recommend this property for anyone headed to NYC. no need to take a car into Manhattan - just park it here, take the bus and return for excellent customer service and a great room!

Hotel was doing some renovations and painting when I stayed there. Smell of fresh paint and wallpaper glue was abound. Room was nice and clean and housekeeping did a good job keeping up with it even with the renovations going on. Internet was stable, as usual it would slow down in the evenings when everyone was online. The front desk clerk who checked me in gave me the wrong passcode, I had to wait until next day for someone else to give me the correct one.
Breakfast area is typical HIE fare. The free channel choices on the in-room TV were limited though, HBO was available, and the four networks out of NYC, the left, right, and center cable news channels, and something for the kiddies (Disney and Cartoon Network). Pay-per-view movies and adult entertainment are available for those who would desire such things. Parking is limited as this hotel is fairly space confined. There is parking in back along a fence though I would definitely take the hotel's advice and remove any valuables from your car including any GPS units.
Getting around these parts takes getting used to if you're not from Jersey. NJ uses "jersey barriers" everywhere on main roads and you can only cross or turn left at certain intersections. So if you want to come out of the hotel and head south towards MetLife Stadium you'll either need to take the street behind the hotel by the warehouses down to the stoplight or drive up to Route 17 and go through the U-Turn junction, which can be a hassle during rush hour#s#. For finding places to eat or shop - there's a few places along Route 17 by the hotel or you can make the drive north about 10 miles and go to Garden State Plaza in Paramus which has just about anything you could want.
Going into NYC has several options. I'd go to either Rutherford or Wood-Ridge NJ Transit train stations and take a train to Secaucus, or drive to Secaucus #exit 15X on NJ Turnpike# and take the train into NY Penn and use the NYC Subway to get around the City.

This is a great hotel to access NYC, short bus ride to Manhatten that picks you up a block away from motel.
Staff was great only regret was that pool was being renovated, we were offered to be shuttle to a neighbouring hotel but didn't want the hassle.
Great place to stay!

I reserved a non-smoking room. Upon arrival, the desk clerk told me there was only smoking left. I said I would try it, but the smoke smell made me want to vomit. She said she would send "someone up with a spray". I refused the room. Suddenly a non-smoking was available, but she did not mention the broken shower and phone. If she had a friendly attitude, apologized for the mixup and said this is the best I can offer you, I would not be writing this negative review. I frequently travel for work and her attitude was the worst I've ever experienced at any hotel. This is how a platinum member is treated at this hotel.

My husband and I have been staying in holiday inns for a while and this one is one of the nicest ones I've been in! Very clean, beautifully designed rooms, comfy beds. The staff was very helpfull,gave us great directions to time square,btw only 15 min bus ride.my husbands phone got stuck on the side of the car seat and the staff came outside to help!!!!The only little negative that I would have to say is the location of the hotel, the area is a little shady, not very much around....

The staff was friendly and courteous. The dining area for breakfast was being cleaned constantly to accommodate new guests dining. The food was good and there was a great variety and plenty to eat. There were several juices, tea, coffee and hot chocolate for drinking. The room that we stayed in was comfortable and clean. This was one of the best hotel experiences that we have had.

Stayed at this same hotel a week earlier. The staff checking us in then was excellent. Unfortunately the next stay was not as good an experience. Maybe the scrub crew is on Sunday night? They were not friendly at checkin. Did not offer a welcome gift even though I am a platinum member. I asked for a late check out the next morning and was grudgingly told I could stay until noon. At 11:15 they called the room requesting it to be vacated. There was also construction going on at this hotel, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the unfriendly front desk.

I try and ALWAYS stay at Holiday Inn Express when I go away. I was very disappointed that the pool and spy were closed for renovations. When I called and scheduled my stay I specifically ask if their was a pool on site and was told yes. Please going forward inform the patrons that these types of projects are being done, so that maybe optional accomidations can be made!
But all and all the Motel was clean and nice!

The motel itself was very nice. The way the road is set up to get to the motel is a total pain in the butt, but I guess that is not the motels fault. The staff was very helpful and the room was really nice. Being able to go swim at the Holmwood was an added bonus to my 7 year old.

Was give a room #501. Smaller than my dorm room at college and twice as loud. The room literally shook. The entire room was shaking and louder than the trucks going by on the highway. We asked for another room. It was given to us right away without a fuss. Obviously mgt knew the room we were in. The next room had a hot tub in the main room and was much larger. Hot tub in the room? It did not conjure up the best images of a clean Holiday Inn. We slept for 5 hours and went on our way. I will have a hard time convincing my wife to stay at a Holiday Inn ever again.

Its not much to look at outside and it is being renovated at the time, but surprising there is no construction noise at all. The rooms are decent size and clean. The road outside is very close and you can sometime hear truck drive by but it is a local highway. free parking is always good.

Breakfast was OK - but it would have been nice with some "dark" bread and less white.
One of the mornings there was bacon in the scrambled egg - not a great idea if guests don't eat meat or pork.
The shower head in room 200 is placed VERY low so it's difficult to stand up under it if you are more than 1 meter 70 centimeters tall.

I know the hotel was under some construction,but it was very disappointing that the refrigerator in one of our 2 rooms did not work.a gentleman came quickly with another fridge, but that one didn't work either. we had a lot to put in fridge. We then had to store things in our coolers, but found there was only one ice machine on the first floor with a full hotel and a lot of football fans staying there. I like staying at Holiday Inn's and the hotel was clean and breakfast very good, but for what I paid for 2 rooms for 2 nights I feel I should be reimbursed or given priority points or something. Also received no recognition for being a priority club member.

I stayed at this hotel during my visit to NY city and found it to be good value for money. It took me about 20 mts to reach from Newark International airport by cab and there were direct buses that ply at a good frequency and at a very nominal cost for travel to NYC early morning to late night.
Beds were quity comfy and had a great sleep. Staff was quite attentive to the needs and breakfast had reasonably good options.
The nearest station is about 10 mts by cab. Its great value for money for travellers especialy leisure who donot mind staying away from the busy NY city life.

They are "doing renovations" and we were assigned a tiny room (1' on each side of the bed and 2' between the foot of the bed and the desk/drawers/luggage stand.
No Chair to sit in.
They say we are gold elite, but last one in gets the worst room (we called at 3 and said we would be arriving very late, so they new were were coming, and we had prepaid). But they assign rooms in the order of arrival.
Sitting on the bathroom toilet was the only place that had enough space you could put on clothes.
We have stayed there many times, and we didn't even know that they had rooms this small.
Not worth the money at all, but we had to stay because that is where locals expected us, otherwise we would have found a decent hotel.
Probably won't go back to Holiday Inn Express ever again.

A pity, the swiming pool was out of order but maybe it will be availbale next time.
Breakfast is better with a correct choice.

OVERALL STAY WAS GOOD. STAFF WAS EXCELLENT AND VERY HELPFUL. WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT I DID NOT GET A REFUND ON A JACUZZI ROOM FOR 100.00 I WAS NOT ABLE TO STAY IN THAT ROOM BUT STAYED IN ANOTHER ROOM AND LOST 100 DOLLARS. I THINK I SHOULD HAVE RECIEVED A LITTLE MONEY BACK. BUT OTHER THAN THAT , I LOVE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS HOTELS. THEY ARE CLEAN AND HAVE GREAT STAFF THERE.

Customer service here was great. I was always greeted with a smile. Rooms were clean and furnishings worked well with newish appearance. Breakfast was a No-go for gluten free traveler, with exception of the usual fruit bowl. All other aspects of my stay were very much enjoyable. Did not attempt to use the pool due to renovations. There are signs directing you to seek hotel staff in regards to the pool or any other disruption cause by the renovation.
Note: you may need to drive past hotel and U-turn in order to reach hotel.
