Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Affordable Stay Close to NYC Close to the city, friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of parking. Affordable choice to stay if visiting NYC. August 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant Stay Fairly quick stay (late check-in, early check-out). But property is in good location, comfortable, updated room furnishings. Breakfast fairly typical for HIE but does the trick. August 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by OK service Check-in was Ok, not the best. Receptionist did not greet us as a member. We had to ask in order to enjoy the amenities we supposed to get as a member. August 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location and Value For NY Visit Great alternative for those planning to visit NYC. NJ transit bus stop (163 Local) is only 1 block away, which takes you to Port Authority Bus Terminal. From there, can take NY subway wherever you need to go. Much lower cost than to pay for room rate in NY itself, + parking and tolls to enter. Hotel itself is nice, but in a so-so area of town. But definitely felt safe and secure in parking. Had a long 10 drive in arriving, and did not feel like going back out for a later dinner. Rooms are equipped with microwave, and have snack area with various products and frozen meals for purchase. So nice to be able to use that, rather then to get everybody back in the car and find a place to eat. Definitely plan to stay again when visiting NY, which will be often now that child is attending NYU. August 26, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Beware We were attending an event at the Meadowlands and were misinformed about the cost of shuttle services. The shuttle never came therefore we had to take a taxi to the resturant and then had to pay to get on the shuttle that we were informed by the hotel was free. The hotel also told us we could walk back after the concert however we were then informed it would be a $200 fine for walking on the highway. The hotel also suggested a cab for the way back, which would be around $20 however it was $80. Also, there was dried vomit under one of the bed skirts which was not cleaned prior to our stay however by the time we discovered it there, there was not another room we could be switched to as the hotel was full and no one from housekeeping was on duty. We had to sleep in the room with the mess. The next morning the Head of House Keeping was very apologetic however the General Manager could not have cared less about the issue and although she said the 5,000 points and $70 would be refunded to the account they have not. As a rewards club member I am very disappointed in the General Managers disregard for the situation, I was called later to be informed that I discovered "old cake" not vomit which I do not believe to be the case and regardless it should not have been there. The hotel was completely under staffed for having a concert in the area after the concert there was only one person working the front desk with the phone ringing off the hook and a line of 10 plus people, felt very sorry for her. Very disappointing experience. August 22, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Family gets away for long weekend Great location! Front desk staff were very helpful with directions and instructions on how to get places. Our toilet was backed up from when we got there, it over flowed, maintenance came right away and cleaned up. Breakfast was good, eggs weren't so great. Good fruit and other healthy options. August 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by friendly staff I found the staff to be friendly. Neat and clean room August 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick trip to the city Perfect hotel for a venture into the city. Comfortable and spotless. A great breakfast to start your day, bus right across the road to take you into the city easy to get on and off. Staff were extremely helpful and had bus schedules already. The whole experience was A+ August 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good deal Booked a room using the IHG points break, for my short visit to NYC. Bus stops to and from NYC were within 5 mins of walking distance from the hotel, which was awesome. The hotel was fully booked on the weekend I stayed, so the breakfast area was super crowded on the saturday morning. Other than that, everything else about the hotel was great -- room was spacious and clean and well air-conditioned. August 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience Great hotel, excellent location, great shuttle service, Breakfast is a great plus when traveling. Staff were very good and anything you need just ask! Rooms were clean and comfortable. Ask about there restaurant in the evenings they shuttle you to it is very nice as well August 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall great experience Spotlessly clean great rooms, great help from all the staff and breakfast was wonderful August 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay, convenient location Overall it was an excellent stay for our family. The area feels very safe. The hotel is conveniently located a few minutes drive from the Lincoln Tunnel, you could also choose to use public transportation to go to NYC. The room we stayed in was modern and recently updated. The hotel in general was very clean. All the staff we met were wonderful. The only complain I have is the big gap between the door and the floor so when someone is knocking on adjacent doors we could really hear it. August 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice stay during our visit to New York City Comfortable beds, clean room, great staff, bus to NYC across the street (bus 160 or 163) and on hotel side of the street on way back from NYC. Breakfast was good (full breakfast and fresh fruit). They do have a pool but it is very small. We attempted to use it but were unable as there wasn't room for us......disappointed after a long hot day in NYC! August 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value Enjoyed stay well worth the price. Close to bus access to New York City. Help staff and comfortable beds with clean room and necessary amenities August 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clean room clean room, easy to go to newyork city, good breakfast, a little bit noisy form the outside road, upstairs people moving also can be heard August 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay and Good Value I checked in late Sunday night tired and ready to turn in for the night. Sherranine was very professional, helpful, and made a great first and last impression. When she saw that I was staying the entire week and upgraded me to a higher floor so I could have some quiet when I needed to work in my room. The breakfast was generally tasty and well presented, only the breakfast tacos need a little work. The experience was great and I'll stay there again when I am back in town. August 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Glad I stayed!!! Easy to get to 17 and Metlife Stadium! Comfy beds and pillows. Beautiful rooms, great staff. Breakfast is good! Very happy I stayed :) August 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Still going strong and renovated too!! Those was our 6 th visit and 18th night stayed here in the last 4 years with our 2 kids. All is good. We were surprised to see that it was renovated considering that it was not bad in the first place. Standard HIEX with same 'fast foodish' type breakfast. Clean, comfortable and close to New York city by bus and big malls a short drive away. We love it and we keep coming back for more. ***FREE PARKING, FREE BREAKFAST, FREE INTERNET AND NO TIPPING ALL THE TIME LIKE DOWNTOWN NEW YORK""" August 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel Nice place, good value, good breakfast. Would stay in this hotel again. August 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyed our Stay After spending hours reading reviews of various hotels in the areas, I did not know what to believe. Therefore, I had to finally just pick a hotel. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. This hotel exceeded my expectations. The people were friendly, the lobby was bright, and the room was clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel. August 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Had everything we needed Our family stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and were very happy with the accommodations. The room was clean and comfortable and there were a lot of food options provided at the free breakfast. The one odd thing we noticed was that the hotel building seemed to be surrounded by abandoned structures (restaurants/nightclubs); however, this did not affect the quality of our stay. I would recommend this hotel if you are going to an event at the Meadowlands sports complex. July 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by weekend in New york We liked this hotel because it's always very clean as much for the room as the other facilities. The free brekafast is good, the eggs are ok, they're not the best but there's alot of other options that are suitable even for healthy conscious people. We like that although a tad far from the lincoln tunnel, it's easy to get there and the place makes it worth the extra time. July 24, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Stayed several times before; this trip was horrible I arrived early evening. Once checked in, I noticed the room was very bright even without having the lights on. The sun shades appeared to be new but they were properly cut, I phoned the front desk and an engineer came out the room. He first stated that this is as good as it gets, while trying to pull more shade downward. As later I passed the desk the front clerk asked about the lighting. I told him it was still bright. Later the same engineer came back with an awful thin brown sheet to try to cover gaps in the shades. This made it worse since the light through the brown now gave a brown tint to the room. Later in night the outside parking lights also made the room bright. I was told that they were full and could not move me. With this room being adjacent to the breakfast pantry, Loud sounds were heard as early as 5:30-5:45 and on through breakfast service. Sounds of talking, cabinet doors slamming and other noises were heard. Try to avoid room 115 I've stayed here numerous times before, this is a recently renovated property. Other issues were nails in parking lot during construction, but this was the first major issue over a two year period and over 100 stays. July 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HIE MEadowlands It was our second time to stay at this property - no disappointments at all! The desk staff were very courteous and helpful. July 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Much nicer We stayed here last year on a vacation to NYC. It was under construction and truthfully a bit of a disaster. When we were passing though the NC area we gave it another go. It's less costly than the hotel in NYC but close enough you can get into Manhattan within a 20 minutes or so. Not too bad outside the toll costs for the tunnel. Great proximity to Meadowlands (the NJ state fair was there when we visited). The drawbacks are the roadway is divided so you have to go down and do a U turn to get into the parking lot. Not that much of a biggie. The parking lot is kind of small. The night we stayed there was a couple large camper/buses in the lot and finding a space to park was difficult and it's isolated so walking to get a quick bite is pretty much out of the question. Nonetheless, I'd stay here again. The value outweighs the minor issues. July 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great stay The hotel is clean. The room is spacious. The breakfast is good. Certainly beyond my expection. Will come back again. July 8, 2014
