Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A Fine Hotel for Busy Travellers The Holiday Inn Express at Stony Brook has one of the best handicap accessible rooms I HAVE EVER STAYED IN, I use a wheelchair and the hotel chain has to be especially commented for the accessible bathroom facilities. At least in the room I stay in. It's not perfect but the best I've ever seen. The shower system, including shower curtain is excellent. The sink was quite adequate with lots of counter space to place medical supplies, toiletries, etc. It would have be helpful to have a taller faucet spout and a shallower sink.. The staff is friendly and very helpful. My only downer was that on one multi-day stay the housekeepers did not clean my room or the bathroom. That can be quite disturbing, especially at the rates the area hotels can command. I think there was a change in management as the overall quality of the hotel has seemed to drop slightly from a year ago. For example, no check out documentation was delivered to my room the morning of my departure. A small point but it's the little touches that mark the difference between just another night in a hotel and fostering the charm and magic of ones hotel / travel experience. Overall, the Stony Brook HIE is a wonderful hotel and one I go back to and stay at every time I come into the area. October 9, 2014

As a result we felt at home and were able to relax and enjoy ourselves. Our experience was among the finest we have had in travels across the USA, Canada, and Europe. Thanks to all for a great stay! In addition this is a No Smoking hotel & there was no lingering 'cigarette smoke odor' that I have experienced in other non smoking hotels. October 8, 2014

Horseshoe pits, volley ball court and outdoor party area were fantastic extras. Wish we could have used the baseball field, but didn't bring enough mitts, that would have been over the top. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NICE HOTEL, BUT WOULDN'T STAY UNTIL MUSKY ORDER IS CORRECTED This is a nice hotel, but upon check-in I was assigned a romm that was so musky, I couldn't even put my luggage in it. They assigned me a different room , immediately, but the only difference was that it was on a different floor, and the air in the room was turned on, that helped the musky, dank, seriously offense odor. I kept thinking I would get used to the smell, but you don't. After you leave and come back, it odor overwhelms you. During my stay there, I heard at least 2 other guests complain about it, so I know it wasn't me being finiky. I would stay here again, but not until the odor problem was corrected. September 24, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Empfehlenswertes Hotel Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral, doch muss man zwangläufig jeden Weg mit dem Auto zurücklegen. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind in wenigen Minuten zahlreich und in jeder Art vorhanden. Problematischer ist es, im größeren Umkreis richtige Restaurants zu finden, da die vielen Malls zum größten Teil nur Imbisse aller Art beinhalten. Das Hotel ist sehr zu empfehlen. Unser Zimmer war sehr groß und gemütlich. Es gab gekennzeichnete feste und weiche Kissen und ein großzügiges Badezimmer. Insgesamt war es sehr ruhig, nur das Duschen anderer Zimmer hat man gehört als ob es im eigenen Zimmer wäre. Das Frühstüksangebot war sehr abwechslungsreich, aber von Tag zu Tag etwas unterschiedlich. September 16, 2014

Security which was on at 3:30 am did not deal with outside wedding aftermath noise until I complained to front desk. Staff moved our room the following day to a quieter floor. Breakfast was average, internet connection was quite unstable,, shuttle service was terrible. It seems clear that the hotel staff is unable to handle properly such an amount guests. September 2, 2014

The staff is great, rooms large and clean, outdoor surroundings well maintained with plenty to do, and would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of staying in the area. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not Thrilled We stayed in the hotel for a wedding and we were stayed from Friday August 15th and checked out Sunday morning the 17th. The very first thing we noticed was the water in the bathroom sink didn't go down and called the front desk and said there was no maintenance crew available and they would send someone up in the morning, in the meantime the water took over an hour to go down. The second thing was the lock on the door to go in and out of was broken. We went down to the front desk and explained and they told us they would check on it ASAP, meantime we had to leave for the church. We came back and the door was not fixed and the door to our room was unlocked for 2.5 hours. We then called the front desk and explained and not in a nice way and then they sent someone up. They gave us points towards our next stay which we rarely ever stay in a Holiday Inn Express. Over all very disappointed and would not stay there again or recommend that anyone stay. Even at the discounted rate, it wasn't worth it. Thank you. Lori Mafia August 26, 2014

The first room had a foul odor. The staff quickly offered me a new room on the highest floor but after settling in and ordering food the television did not work.
