Worst Holiday Inn Express I have stayed in. Would not recommend.

The staff at the front desk were friendly and the check-in and check-out experience was efficient and fast. However, the room was not as clean as I would have hoped. There were grease stains on the sheet and on the shower curtain and there were various types of hair on the bathroom floor. The carpet had crumbs on it. The noise outside of the room was loud and kept me up all night for the two nights that I was there. It was because I was so close to the lobby and I could hear the breakfast preparation and ice machine and washer and dryer running much of the night. Also, the heater was quite loud and every time it kicked on, it woke me up. The breakfast selection was alright, but most of the coffee carafes were empty by the time I had breakfast at 8:30 am. I have stayed at other hotels in this area and this is the best, so I will continue to stay here.

This one is probably the best Holiday Inn in Charleston and the most conveniently located. More of a business stay than a leisure stay. Not the most modern facility, but it has all the amenities you need for business purposes, free wifi and breakfast included. The staff is very good. The only inconvenience was the slow elevator, but in their defense, they were in the idle of having new ones installed.

First reservation was messed up for one of my group. Secondly elevator out of order and terribly slow when it did work. Third, Rooms weren't ready until 3:30 pm. Fourth, heater in room was so loud I didn't sleep much. Fifth room cleaning didn't occur until 4:00 pm probably won't use holiday inn express next time I am in charleston wv

This place rocks. The rooms have been recently redecorated and are very attractive and comfortable. Front desk was extra courteous--she offered a ground-floor room for me and my service dog without my having to ask. All the staff were very hospitable. I'm not a fan of the breakfast in this category of hotel (wish they'd just skip it and reduce the rate), but this was above par for the field. I'm impressed.

I really enjoyed my stay. I came into the Charleston area for the Auto Show and needed a hotel to park my truck while at the show. The Holiday Inn Hotel chain is always my Hotel of choice but they can't always accomodate me. Julie and Nancy in sales were terrific!!! I was treated like a V.I.P. Even the front desk, maintainence and the shuttle driver took really good care of me. It made my stay there very comfortable.

All employees I met upon arriving, during our overnight stay, and checking out were very friendly and helpful, . Desk clerk acknowledged I was an IHG customer and thanked us for being so.
Our stay was for medical tests to be taken next day and was close to the medical center. The hotel is in a good location being so close to civic center and towncenter. Thank you very much for a nice experience in your area being that we are not from the Charleston area. Your welcoming and cheerful attitude were greatly appreciated.

I have been staying at this hotel for several months and have truly enjoyed everything about my stays from the room, breakfast, location, and especially the staff. There is nothing they will not eagerly help you with if you have a problem or just a question. And last week, they added larger and very comfortable new pillows. I am a large man and almost every hotel I have been staying has the small pillows. Finally I can look forward to a pillow that is "my" size. Thanks HIE staff!!

5th floor room as not being cleaned properly. 2 night/3 day stay. Upon arrival, light switch just inside door smeared with something and was never cleaned. Bath floor under counter was filthy upon arrival and was never cleaned properly. Upon arrival, bits of paper and other debris on carpet and was never vac'd properly. Room coffee service left dirty and not replenished after my first night.
Though renovations were underway, elevator service was very bad.
Very cold weather likely cause major water leak that flooded several occupied 1st floor rooms, though this did not directly affect me.
After local water crisis, no effort to stock occupied rooms w/bottled water.

The hotel has undergone updates that have helped to freshen up the appearance. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The pillow cases are marked - firm, soft, etc. with plenty of options to choose from, which helps to ensure a more restful night of sleep.

The hotel has a wonderful staff from the front desk to the breakfast personnel. The location is so close to everything that we are able to walk to any place we need to go. The room is nice and always clean when I return from work, And the internet speed had greatly improved and is easy to gain access. I really look forward to staying here each week.

Hotel was under renovation when we arrived so we expected some slight inconvenience. The only true issue was the operation of only one elevator which was a bit annoying but not a huge deal for us. The room was mostly clean but the front of the bathroom vanity looked as though it hadn't been wiped down in quite a while. Beds were comfortable and the room was reasonably appointed. The heat was very inconsistent probably because the thermostat was across the room. The bigger negatives were that housekeeping staff knocked on our door not once but twice on a Saturday morning--the first time before 9 am and the second time before 9:30 even though checkout was at 12. Also, I had an issue with the blow dryer so I contacted guest services who told me someone would be up to take care of it immediately. I waited for quite a while then I finally finagled with the cord and outlet for several minutes and managed to get it to work long enough to get my hair dried. No one ever came to address the issue in the 1 1/2 hours that followed the call.

All in all, our stay was just fine. We have stayed at this same hotel a number of times on our drive from Chicago to the Carolinas. Our room was comfortable, the service was good, breakfast was good - as always. But this stay had a new feature. We were in a room marked by a plaque on the door as Handicapped. There was a button next to the door, with instructions to press it for 5 seconds. The key card would not work in the door until we had pressed and held this button as instructed. When the button was pressed, the fire alarm went off in the room, and continued to blare until we stopped pressing the button. This was pretty startling to whoever was in the room until we got used to it. We will continue to stay in this hotel in the future - the location is great - but next time, if there is a buzzer on the room door, I'm going to ask for a different room. :-)

My sister and I stayed at this Holiday Inn for two reasons, one is I am a IHG member and I like getting the points. Two, we were going to a concert and the hotel is within walking distance, so that was a plus. It was full that night, I am assuming from the concert. There were two girls working the check inn. As I was checking inn, they weren't looking at the people that were checking in, they were just rushing through and trying to hurry and get us out of the way. Not very professional at all. One clerk stated since I was a Gold card member I got to choose 3 bags of chips. Really? That was my only odd experience, the rest of the stay was pleasant.

The room itself was fine. Not the cleanest and a stain on the wall, but dark and quiet. The hotel lools quite rundown from the outside, but inside is better. Breakfast is so-so -- second day juice was like water. My problem was that I stayed when the hot water system was being upgraded. No one told me this when booking or when I arrived, so essentially I had cold showers. And when I mentioned this, I didn't get an apology or offer of compensation. The desk person just said she would call maintenance. I think you should get 50% off if there's no hot water -- it's one of the essential elements of a good hotel stay, and the staff response to my mentioning it was underwhelming.

The water was cold. I was NOT made aware that the water system was being repaired / replaced when I booked or when I arrived. This is the sort of thing that should get you a reduced rate. I'm not even sure if this really the reason, because the front desk person called maintenance as I was leaving to report it. But maybe the staff didn't know either. This staff person (Sunday Dec 29) didn't say sorry for the lack of hot water or offer any compensation. The men on the front desk Friday and Saturday were friendly. The Sunday morning woman was terse. Orange juice on second day was watery. Stain of some sort on bedroom wall.

The room was no different than a room I had the next night in a chain motel. Way over-priced for the value. The breakfast was mediocre..cold gravy and greasy bacon. The OJ was watered down. The staff was friendly. If the room was about $60 cheaper would have been more of a value. The only real plus was the closeness to the civic center

The room was nice and clean other than a garbage can that still had garbage in it from the previous night. I'm not to picky, I can tolerate that. When we check in the staff was wonderful, very friendly. We stayed there to go shopping and to a concert. After the concert approx 11:30 pm, I called the front desk to see if they could recommend a restaurant that delivers because with it being Charleston, that town does not have the best reputation and I didn't want to be out that late with my daughter. The gentleman that answered the phone was completely RUDE. Was a smart mouth punk. Then he hung up on me. Well, me being the southern, polite country girl that I am, I went to the front desk and confronted him. He was even more rude in person. Because of him, I will not go back and will not recommend that hotel to anyone.

We stayed there the night of a Jerry Seinfield show at the Municipal Auditorium. It was close to the auditorium and we had planned on walking there and back from hotel. It was raining cats and dogs and hotel sent us and others in a shuttle van to auditorium. All staff were very friendly and helpful in every way. Will definitely stay there again and have already recommended to others.

This was the Holiday that we wanted to stay at but in error had made reservations at a different location. I was using IHG Rewards and James at the front desk helped me in getting my reservations switched to this location. Our rooms where clean, beds comfortable and the staff where so friendly and helpful! We will use this facility again!
