I have been a IHG/Priority Gold Card member and participant since the 1970's, and count on Holiday Inn properties for the basics, since I travel constantly. This visit was on a vacation trip with my wife, however, and the hotel was not up to snuff. The room was too cramped for 2 queens and two people, with inadequate closet and space for luggage. Worst, the water pressure is unpredictable, and fluctuated frequently during showers, dropping to a drizzle several times.
The location is not convenient to downtown restaurants, places of interest and the waterfront.
On the positive side, the staff was friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful time at the holiday inn express Charlottetown, pei. It was close to everything. We have been to other expresses and I always wanted to comment on the breakfast. It is a great idea ,however there should always be scrambeled eggs, along with the cheese omelette you offer. If someone does not like cheese, then the other offer is boiled eggs.
It was our first time to PEI from Toronto, and this HIE was a delight

We were looking for some fun activity for our 15 year old twin granddaughters. The hotel staff suggested Rise and Climb in Cornwall, about 10 minutes from the hotel. What a good adventure it turned out to be. We played (daughter and granddaughters) for a few hours and then were ready to head for the ferry and continue our journey in Nova Scotia. I regret not spending one more day in PEI, but we took home in our minds the vast spreads of greens and blues and the fresh smells of a wonderfully hospitable island.

Staff was very accommodating during their peak season. We booked several months in advance using our IHR points, exchanging a premium number of points for a standard room, using upto twice the points per night then other IHR destinations during this holiday. The comfort was considered fair and therefore value considered below average. Charlotteown needs another IHR hotel.
The room was cramped with little storage for two adults with luggage. The closet area was small, about a quarter the size of the standard. Hotels with small rooms should not have a double bed and sofa bed with large coffee table but instead a minimum Queen sized bed if a hotelier wants their guests to get a good rest; furnished with comfy chairs if space is limited.
This hotel has a pool and a fitness room which was clean and had a suitable variety of machines and free weights . The depth of the pool seemed shallow; in general hotels that spend money on pools should make them deep enough so that an adult can swim the front crawl without without slapping the bottom of the pool (and be made longer to swim lenghts)

Overall good, except room was not ready for check in at 3:00 pm and noted that there is no button to automatically open the door at the main entrance. I wrote a review last year and mentioned this at that time also. This must be challenging for anyone with a physical disability.

The staff were very friendly and helped us to ensure that we were able to experience as much as Charlottetown has to offer. The did a great job in the new renovations at the hotel.

Only issue is that breakfast starts too late if you have an early morning flight to catch. Would be nice to get fruit and muffins to go. Also, would be really nice to have airport shuttle service.
