From the time we arrived and were welcomed by the desk person until checkout when another desk person told us goodbye and wished us safe travel, we enjoyed our stay. Even the normal cookie cutter type breakfast was better than normal! We got bananas that weren't bruised and over ripe and there was crisp bacon for once! The whole hotel was immaculate and the bed was super comfy. If all HIE hotels were like this, we'd never stay anywhere else! June 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service, clean room We had a great stay. Breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly. We were only about 15 minutes from Ruby Falls and the Aquarium. Only thing, we had the 2 queen suite with pull out bed. Once the sofa bed is pulled out, not much room to get by to go to bathroom. Other than that, room was spacious and clean. The exercise equipment was damaged or not working correctly--pool was great. June 9, 2014

The room was "smelly" - because we had a dog we were put in a "pet friendly" room. There was a tick found on our baggage and a musty damp odor in the room. this was unpleasant. The soft pillows were still to firm to my liking, I prefer a feather pillow. Overall stay was not bad. See note in the survey on front desk clerk not knowing how to apply the extra AAA discount. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Holiday Inn Express Our stay was thee to sleep after a 9 hours of driving. This Holiday Inn does allow dogs on the first floor, we were on the 3rd floor. However I listened to a dog bark most of the night, maybe thru open window or something. Holiday Inn is always been the best and still is our favorite. June 4, 2014

When this was brought to the staff's attention, they seemed aggravated to have to take care of it. May 8, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nightmare in Chattanooga Our school booked a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express in East Ridge, TN for a competition that was happening for our students at the UTC Arena. When the competition was over for the night the students went to the hotel in order to sleep and get up the next morning and compete again. Well when they got to the hotel the hotel clerk had given their rooms away. All 16 rooms. They had a credit card and application on file and the clerk gave their rooms away. Parents had booked rooms and gotten their rooms and were in the hotel waiting on their children and the children were sent to another hotel because they had given the bulk of our rooms away. This was the worst experience I have had at a hotel. Never have I experienced such disregard for reservations in my life. They had a credit card that guaranteed the rooms. Unsure why they felt they could give the rooms away. Maybe because it was late? I do not know. They could not explain their actions. If you book a room make sure you check your reservations and let them know if you are going to be a late arrival and do not give your room away. April 1, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty room and uncomfortable stay. The bathroom vent was very dirty, there were stains on the ceiling, and there were several holes in the wall. We felt very uncomfortable during our stay and at times felt uneasy. We have used Holiday Inn Express as our main hotel for business travel and vacations with no major problems or bad experiences. However, this visit was very inadequate and has us questioning our next hotel choice. We are very disappointed as a valued customer. March 14, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Staff and staff of Dalton Inn Staff was very helpful especially at the Dalton Holiday Inn Express. They went out of their way to arrange our stay in Chattanooga since all the motels in Dalton were full. Other motels did not bother to do that. We appreciate it. Also, our TV was not working when we got in the room but the desk person came up and solved the problem. We haven't stayed in a Holiday Inn for quite some time prior but will certainly try to stay there again. Our friends tell us that they especially like the Holiday Inn in Dalton. I can see why. There was a LARGE bug in my room, the tub was out dated and stained and the majority of the staff was less than friendly. I was not given a welcome bag or the option of additional points during checkin and they did not offer me express check out. I have had enjoyable stays at many other IHG hotels, however this was NOT one of them. March 7, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceptional Employees As a frequent traveler and previous Flight Attendant, I have stayed in many hotels over the years. This particular hotel is one of the few that has prompted me to write a review. While I enjoyed the quality, comfort, and cleanliness of this hotel, it was the employee friendliness and willing attitude that stood out. From the front desk, Jonathan was professional, highly efficient, helpful and courteous while quite busy with several check-ins. Genuine, competent customer service is becoming rare, and he was a stand-out. In addition, we were departing early, before breakfast service began, and a kitchen staffer noticed us heading for the door. I did not get her name,( perhaps work schedules can be checked?), but she kindly asked if we weren't staying for breakfast. My husband perked up and inquired if he could somehow get a bagel or piece of fruit to go. Though we were 60-90 minutes early for breakfast, this kind soul offered to let him grab an item or two for the road--which started my husbands day off on a very positive note. While he was grabbing a quick to-go breakfast, I was having a pleasant conversation with another female employee (sorry, didn't get her name, thin woman with long medium blonde hair) who stood out in the cold, next to our car to simply chat with me while I waited for my husband. On top of all this exceptional care, and it was exceptional, I had one of the better nights rest I've had in a hotel. Just so appreciative I had to acknowledge this staff. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bed and bathroom Toilet overflowed and water would not shut off, flooded bathroom and carpeting at entrance to room. Staff immediatly exchanged rooms. Matresses to soft, slept poorly. Poorly staffed, front desk receptionist was responsible to fix toilet , clean mess and maintain front desk. She did an excellent job, but that was to much to be expected, and undermined the quality of the service she could provide. February 22, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Probably a great location but the snow put us in a bad room After calling a half dozen hotels for a room on the fly...due to the snow shutting Atlanta down around Jan 28th & 29th we were given a room at this location. We were on the first floor and heard every person roll their suitcase past the room , thump thump...and we heard each time the person above us used their water in the bathroom. We didn't complain since we did have a room after our long search and the weather had shut so much down. February 5, 2014

The rooms were huge with really comfortable beds. The pool was the perfect temperature. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. If you need a place to stay in Chattanooga, this is the hotel for you! January 8, 2014

The check in was quick and accurate. The room was clean however it was clear the hotel was worn and in need of an update. The staff was wonderful allowing for a late check out to give us needed rest. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not as good as usual My family has stayed on this particular hotel several times in the last couple of years. In general, it has been a good experience. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly. We had the unfortunate experience of having the hot water heater fail on the morning we were going to be travelling. Which means no one in my family was able to shower until a day later. When I asked the front desk, they confirmed that the hot water heater had failed, and the maintenance person would be at the hotel within an hour. The staff is usually polite and friendly, but there was no apology, no offer to see "if there is anything we can do for you". I don't really need anything, for compensation, I understand things like this happens, but there didn't seem to be a lot of concern for customer comfort. What surprised me is that there was no offer to add points, reduce cost, or any other option. I am a frequent business traveler, and an IHG Platinum Member. A majority of the time there is any issue at a hotel, I am offered some sort of compensation without asking. Recently I stayed at another brand and just mentioning that they had a problem with an appliance we were offered a free night without even hinting that we were unhappy. My only other comment with the hotel is that it is starting to show signs of age. The workout room equipment is cheap and starting to wobble and bend. An upgrade should be considered. Kids enjoyed the nice warm pool in the evening time after long day of driving. We are considering going back just to vacation in the area as there seems to be a lot to see. October 27, 2013
