Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location, Friendly Staff While the rooms are very small, we found that it accommodated our needs very well. The location was perfect. Walking distance to the subway, Hop On/Hop Off, and lots of great restaurants (Hugo's Frog Bar, Centro, Portillo's, Harry Carey's). Princess greeted us with a smile, and called our room after we were settled to confirm that everything was okay. We had one request, and it was immediately handled. While housekeepers seldom get mentioned, we feel that Bianca deserves special recognition. She did an excellent job of refreshing and refurbishing our room. We believe one of the primary reasons the front desk staff and concierge are so friendly and helpful is due to Jackie's leadership role in daily operations. We will definitely stay at this Holiday Inn Express when we return to Chicago. September 28, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Room size and attitude My company recently held a convention in Chicao and some of us where put up at this property. Location seemed great as it was close to restaurants and other activity in "downtown' area. I was quite disappointed in the size of the room as there was little or no space to do anything but sleep. As a business traveler I expected to be able to have space to do some work after a day on convention floor. I had an outside room and it was very noisey. My last night there my sleep was interupted by rowdy and drunk people outside my room. When I called down to complain, the desk clerk said that when they sent someone up there was no noise so therefore she could not make an adjustment to my room charge. She also stated that they were guest too, and sometimes people get drunk, loud and swear. She really did not seem too concerned that as what I called a good guest was unable to sleep due to the guest making noise. NEVER AGAIN September 26, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service However... I like the Holiday Inn Express brand primarily for consistency. Although the staff was wonderful, the property was a huge disappointment. Our room was tiny, with barely enough space to move around. There was no counter space in the bathroom and only one side table for the bed (not on my side). I won't recommend the hotel to friends because I think you can find a better property for much less (and I have in the past through travel websites). September 25, 2013

The best part about this hotel other than location is the wonderful customer service. The front desk personnel are so very friendly, the valet crew is top notch, and the cleaning staff is spot on. This one is in a terrific location and very reasonably priced, except that the price varies dramatically with conventions being in town. If they would simply keep the price constant (it's not like the rooms suddenly changed) this would be a fabulous bargain in Chicago. Even at the high prices during conventions, though, its reasonable, clean, pleasant, and very well run. September 23, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfortable - small yet initimate feel I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Mag Mile for a 3-day weekend. The hotel is very clean and very comfortable. The staff is excellent! They are so friendly - not a grumpy one in sight. This really makes a difference. Hello, good morning/afternoon, how are you, a smile...simple things that make a difference. The size of the hotel is a bonus for me. I tend to like the boutique style. I find the larger the hotel the longer the wait is for elevator, service etc... The smaller size gives more of a relaxed environment. I also like the smaller rooms, so the room size was perfect for me. But I travel to Europe a lot so very similar to Euro standard size rooms. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Cheap Option near Michigan Ave I stayed at this location for 1 night and had a great experience. The room was a tiny bit cramped but I found everything else to be exceptional. The staff was attentive and pleasant. 2 water bottles as a welcome gift was very nice. The Linens were comfortable and the room and bathroom were very clean and updated. I would consider this to be the best budget hotel option near Michigan ave. Shortly after I stayed at the Holiday Inn near the Merchandise Mart and I preferred the Holiday Inn Express. September 9, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just right Got a last minute deal and arrived late evening. Room was small, but comfortable, adequate and in a perfect downtown location. Breakfast was outstanding. The entire hotel is clean and inviting. Valet parking is convenient and price-appropriate with in/out privileges. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely recommend this hotel. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by What a Staff What an amazing staff, the bellmen/valets were amazing, We were taking our child to college and had so much stuff they helped us pack and repack the car, never complained, helped us with so much stuff to the room. Laughted with us, not at us. Enjoyed their company. Front desk people knew everything about Chicago and helped with plans, directions, suggestions etc. Rooms were small, but felt like we were in a boutique hotel and enjoyed the experience of staying in a historic building with all the Holiday Inn Express amentities we have come to expect. I liked the concept of how the Hotel Cass idea merged with the modern and tasteful decor for a unique Chicago experience. This time I stayed for business though my stay was short and memorable. However, we were only in the room to sleep so it wasn't that big of a deal. I would of liked a bit more room in the bathroom too. I would totally come back! Also, we got a great deal. It was clean, convenient (within walking distance of all the Chicago sites), very helpful (the staff was extremely friendly and the concierge was very knowledgeable and always available) and included a terrific free breakfast. Started off with only 1 bed booked, Front desk staff was able to upgrade the room to two beds. Thank You Fran. The service was excellent, wonderful breakfast, beautiful hotel. My son Harrison asked on our check out day if they would "Dinosit" his pet dinosaur Rexie. The front desk staff obliged. Harrison gave lots of instructions for his care, which they loved. But for a hotel of that size, I was amazed that it only had ONE beverage vending machine. And they were out of water!! Really? How hard is it to go get cases of bottled water for your guests? Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Will not be back I am a fan of Holiday Inn Express and a Gold Elite Member. Our room was located on the 2nd floor next to the elevator. The room was tiny. We had two full (not queen) beds in our room. The suitcases had to remain closed and against the wall in order to walk around the bed. My wife and I would roll to the center of the mattress because it was worn out, and we are not large people. I have never had a problem with Holiday Inn Express and will continue to be a loyal patron (at a third of the cost of this particular hotel). I would rather sleep in a tent next to Lake Michigan before giving money to this hotel again. I am 51 years of age and this was by far, the most uncomfortable room and bed that I have had at any hotel, ever. August 27, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very disappointed! The rooms are very small! You can barely walk around in them. Everything is condensed. The staff was not very friendly and the elevators were slow. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was average compared to others. The valet parking was terrible! It took about 15-25 mins every time they got our vehicle. Not sure where they were going to park it. Left after the first night and stayed at the Holiday Inn Merchandise Mart. Much better experience. August 23, 2013
