Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good location but very small rooms. Booked six queen bed rooms at this hotel. Rooms were very small and all were queen exept mine which had 2 single beds. Apparently being a priority club platinum member does'nt mean much here. January 28, 2013

There was approx. 1 1/2 feet between the edge of the desk and the bed...making it near impossible to work there without being "squeezed in". The condition of the room is also deplorable: soiled cushion for the couch, patched up ceiling and walls, carpet needs to be replaced, and TV was about 18 inches. However, the price is inclusive of a breakfast - so you may want to consider the trade-off if you are looking for a value-priced room downtown. January 24, 2013

I arrived the 12th of january at 5 pm checking-in and at the check-in the gentleman that was on duty was really nice and helpful since i just came back from a deployment. I requested if i could get a late check-out next day at 2 or 3 pm and he said YES NO PROBLEM AT ALL. I went on with my day and went around downtown with my girlfriend to clubs and venues downtown and we came back at 3 am really exhausted when i received a call from downstairs service. Her name was KEISHA or Something like that. She was extremely RUDE on the phone telling me at 4 am!!! that i can't get late check-out that i have to leave at 12pm. WHAT KIND OF PERSON CALLS A CUSTOMER AT 4AM!!! LETTING THEM KNOW THEY CANT GET NO LATE CHECK-OUT AND NOT WAIT TILL 10 AM OR SO!!! That really upset me and i went downstairs to talk to her when she was yelling at me and my girlfriend even making my girlfriend cry. What kind of person does that!!She needs to get fired for such a bad behavior!! NOT ACCEPTABLE at all!!! January 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First time to Chicago I was terrified coming from a rural area hours away from any large city going to Chicago the first time ever and taking my 11yr old. The staff were great. They knew directions to every place I asked about. I felt safe walking the area from Hotel to the American girl doll store even after dark around 9pm and walking to the Grant Park area for a segway tour then walking back to the hotel which was about 15 blocks,each way, didn't feel like a long walk and was okay walking back after dark around 6pm. Then headed out to eat a couple blocks away later in the evening. Trader joes across the street. McDonald's three blocks west. Plenty of places for food and coffee all over the magnificent mile area. Rooms are small compared to hotels off an expressway exit ramp but were clean and comfortable. Although there is a self parking on the same block as the hotel for five dollars less per day than the valet parking but valet will get your car anytime with fifteen minutes notice. There is even a nice alcove near the hotel to smoke cigarettes with an ashtray. Used valet parking for the first time ever and I was well taken care of, didn't feel looked down on by valet's like I expected for not knowing how to use the service. Small fitness center but does the job. Joined priority club for room price with valet. Had corner room with two double beds 14th floor. Was quiet at night but sirens and city noises will wake a late sleeper in the morning. I will definitely be going back to this hotel if I go to the city again! January 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for business travel use The rooms are pretty compact, but functional. Good bed. Pretty fast Wifi. The staff was amazing - all of them. I couldn't get over that. Really punching above their weight. The price was great - I honestly thought it was a mistake when I booked. A Trader Joes is across the street if you need to pick up something. January 16, 2013

This hotel is located in a perfect spot to do anything in downtown Chicago, whether it's shopping on the Mag Mile or State St. or dining and going to the theater. It is such a good value for the $. The rooms are tiny but very adequate. The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I would definitely stay here again. January 13, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable bed greatservice We couldn't have been happier with the Holiday Inn Express on Wabash Ave. From the moment I made the reservation and any time we were in any part of the Hotel staff was very friendly and willing to help. The bed were extemely comfortable and room was very clean. Front desk staff helpful in assisting with directions and the breakfast staff was very accomadating . The location is also great in getting to Magnificent Mile and other locations. I defentitly would stay there again. January 6, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Small yet comfortable rooms and service The room I stayed in was somewhat small but what can you expect from a highrise in the middle of downtown Chicago? The bed was comfortable, the room/bathroom was nice and clean, the breakfast was good (try the cinnamon rolls!), it was within walking distance of great food (Pizzaria Due), the staff was efficient and friendly and answered all my questions and got my cab for me, the valet parking was really handy (however cost about $40). Also, I stayed during the holiday season so the view from my room was great, with the Christmas lights next door. I highly recommend this hotel. December 27, 2012

Not at all what we were expecting. We stay at Holiday Inn Expresses whenever we travel because we know what to expect and enjoy the facilities. This was not at all pleasant. December 14, 2012

Great location! A couple blocks from Magnificent Mile and pretty much in the center so you could head either way to explore. Subway is close. Front desk was very helpful in answering our numerous. As good as a concierge would be. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay here again! December 7, 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not a bad find. This place used to be a dump. Now HolidayInn bought it and its quite a wonderful turnaround for this iconic old hotel. All the staff were wonderful and it was a great experience. My only negatives were the lack of closet space (the closet had the drawers installed, so there was no room to hang my suit pants as I would have liked) and the slower than average WiFi service.
