The HI Express in Clinton is ALWAYS our choice, and the BEST choice, when visiting in Clinton, MS. We have always found the exterior of the hotel, the grounds, and the interior of the hotel, to be immaculate. The rooms are spacious and the beds are exceptionally comfortable. The breakfast is nothing but DELICIOUS, and offers a wide variety of breakfast foods. And to top everything off, the staff - Missy, Yolanda, Rodonna, and every other staff member - are incredibly friendly and helpful! Making their guests feel "special" is more than a slogan to the staff ... it's what they DO. As I've said before, "We won't even consider staying anywhere else"!

The managers seemed to be on top of it and were very helpful, but this did not extend to the front desk staff. Two times, when a manager told me one thing in response to a question, the front desk attendants seemed to be unaware or unwilling, I wasn't sure which. I felt like I was putting the front desk attendants out anytime I asked the simplest question. Two examples: 1) We qualified for and requested a late checkout. Standard late checkout time is 1:30, but the desk attendant asked me for a specific time, so I stated between 11:30 and 12:30. She said no, I HAD to provide a specific time. In any other HIE, late checkout is late checkout. -- I didn't understand her annoyance and borderline rudeness. 2) We needed a cab. I asked if there was a company they knew that was reliable and the attendant (a different employee from the situation above) handed me a card to call. I was fine with that -- we have cell phones these days and I planned to make the call myself anyway. However, the manager was standing there and asked her employee to make the call for me, and the employee blatantly resisted. It was uncomfortable for ME to witness this awkward exchange between the manager and employee. I would suggest more training and setting clear expectations for all employees.
Otherwise, the rooms were decent. The lounge area and breakfast were nice, as always.
