We've stayed in HI for a number of tournaments through out Ontario and our experience has always been positive.
This particular HI was very difficult to contact directly in order to make arrangements for 15+ rooms for 2 nights. It wasn't until I called through the 1-800 head office number that the hotel started to return calls.
I understand that a hockey team of 10 year old boys can run the halls and that it effects other guests experience.
We asked a minimum of 6 times for a common room that could accommodate the team to watch a movie together and for the parents to gather. No efforts were made until the second night unti they made a suite available to us which I am sure was done in error by a newer employee.
Overall I didn't get the impression that this HI is team friendly especially in an area where there are several hockey tournaments over the winter months.
The answer is quite easy. Make a common room available with seating and have a zero tolerance policy for unattended groups of children in the halls.
As the team manager and the person responsible for finding team accommodations. I will look for other options first in the collingwood area.

Hotel was overall an excellent experience the only thing lacking was the cleanliness of the room. I had to pick up some nut shells from the people that used the room before us. I would definitely stay there again as no one can be perfect.

When we first arrived the room we were given had no TV service and the frig didn't work. The front desk had us move our things to another suite after we had already unpacked in the first room.
We decided to stay an extra night, however when we went out in the afternoon, housekeeping failed to service our room. We were very disappointed because we had no clean towels, etc. We called housekeeping at 3:30 p.m. but got a voicemail and never received a call back, therefore no housekeeping for our last night.

Overall we were very happy with our experience at the Holiday Inn Express Collingwood. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable. They have movies that you can rent which not all Holiday Inn's have. Also this hotel is close to everything which is a big plus......One way to improve the experience would be to have mini fridges and micro's.

When I opened the door to the first room I was given it sounded like there was a helicopter inside. The culprit was an old heating/cooling unit perched high up on the wall over the bed.
The hallway to the second room had so much carpet deodorizer embedded in it, I would put my shirt over my face before traversing the passage each day.
The front desk staff, though friendly - never seemed to be positioned at the front desk.
Unfortunately this is one of those HI's that got a nice outside, and lobby upgrade but the rooms were only "refreshed".
Basically lipstick on a pig I'm afraid!

The hotel and rooms are outdated and show their age. The rooms could have been cleaner and appliances and furniture need major upgrading. The lobby was adequate and clean. Didn't stay much at the hotel and only slept there. I wouldn't recommend this if you will be staying in your room for more than just sleeping - and only if you get a deal.

The room was very adequate. However, I found it difficult with the AC over our heads. All night I had this cool air settling on my head. Bad positioning of AC unit. Also the unit continually went from slow to fast. Hard to sleep with that going on. Keep it at slow.
The breakfast was excellent and well served. However, there was inadequate space in the dining room for breakfast. The Inn is built for x number of people. The breakfast room should accommodate that number of people. To merely say, "It is busy on weekends." is an excuse not a valid reason to keep it as is. The same thing happened last summer when I was there.
