Not impressed. At check-in our room was not clean and we were not offered a different room. I had to get my own cleaning supplies at the front desk. Breakfirst is poor and not even average. This time my stay and expirience was not the best.

Everything was perfect, breakfast is huge and has all kinds of meals and drinks. Personnel is very respectful and friendly. Location not far from the tramway and esay connections to the underground.
Rooms are very clean and comfortable, the Holiday Inn Trademark is very well identified wherever you visit an hotel like this.

Entirely typically Holiday Inn Express, clean and comfortable.
No WIFI in rooms, not acceptable today, Internet terminal in lobby wanted €9 per hour.
No orange juice at breakfast
The only place to eat was MacDonalds next door.
Too far from public transport links.
In the evening it was difficult to get staff to the bar for drinks, only one staff doing office duties, reception and bar.

Wir waren nunmehr das vierte Mal in diesem Hotel. Bisher verliefen unsere Aufenthalte auch immer zur Zufriedenheit. Das war auch wieder mit dem Zimmer so, so dass wir drei Nächte ruhig und entspannend schlafen konnten. Beim Frühstück waren wir jedoch teilweise sprachlos und angeekelt. Vor uns wurde die Salami alle, daraufhin sprach ich nach einiger Zeit eine Mitarbeiterin an, sie möge doch bitte Salami nachlegen. Ich bekam daraufhin die Antwort, dass auch die andere Wurst gegessen werden müsse und sie erst nachlegt, wenn diese auch alle ist. Da freut sich der Gast, wenn so mit ihm umgegangen wird. Nun zum absoluten "no go", Genau diese Mitarbeiterin, die offenbar an den Osterfeiertagen total überfordert war, benutzte einen Wischlappen, der den Namen nicht verdient. Der Lappen war fast schwarz, roch von weiten schon ekelig und wurde die drei Tage, an denen wir frühstückten, für alles benutzt, was es zum Wischen gab. Krümel grundsätzlich vom Tisch auf die Erde, über den Tisch geschmiert, dann weiter auf die Stuhlsitze und wieder zum nächsten Tisch. Zwischendurch nochmal an der Kaffeemaschine oder am Buffet. Dabei in der freien Hand neue Messer und Servietten. Zwischendurch auch mal Handwechsel. Einfach unhygienisch!
Wir wissen im Moment nicht, ob wir bei unseren nächsten Kölnaufenthalten wieder hier einchecken.

Noisy hotel, front of the hotel busy street. Although I asked not to be put in a front side room I received just such a room. Thnx to my earplugs I could more or less sleep comfortably. breakfast is mediocre. Hotel with no presence ... Clean and tidy but no atmosphere .. Good access though to all roads.

The Hotel is located pretty close to the center and to the Dom. But here ends my good report. The breakfast is OK and nothing more. and the room we stayed in was very small for a triple. the folding bad was terrible and my son really suffered. our bed is not a double bed by no means and the blankets where tiny. but over all we requested a non smoking room, but the whole floor had a heavy smell of smoke and so did the beds and the pillows.
when we complained the lady at reception told me there is nothing much she can do.
I'm planing a tour to Cologne next year but I'm not going to stay in this hotel again.

After a long drive the staff on reception made us feel welcome and explained everything we needed to know.
the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the beds comfortable everything was fine.
breakfast was basic but of good quality and the plates / mugs clean and easy to find around the food / drinks
reception gave good advise regarding public transport and the different area's of Cologne.
it is the budget arm of Holiday Inn and it is good value, clean and convenient that is all I want

Very Quiet room for my Stay and the Service is excellent.
But i was surprised that the WiFi access or room internet was only for very expensive payment!!! ( 1h / 4 Euro Wow..... )
This is meanwhile normal Standardservice for Hotel Guests in european Hotels. ( My personally experience )

I everything was at a good level, one thing is not so amazing and very old fashioned : internet is only available by wire connexion inside the room.An not free at all : 14 €/day or 4€/hour Wireless only available at the lobby.
This is today, as the most of business traveller people are using an Ipad or other tablet, really out of date.
More, in 80% of hotels the wireless cx. is free.
You have to think about. Ok, for me it was a leisure travel, so it didn't really disturb me. But if I were in a business trip I wouldn't choose this hotel for this reason.

we had a good time again in Cologne with interesting visits of trade fair and museums. We will come again and stay again in the HIX Cologn Mülheim. We can only recommend this hotel for good value for money. Only the breakfast is not luxurious but ok.

Good price for good comfort.
My only remark concerns the reception desk: the young lady did her job, no doubt, but she could have been replaced by a robot. Not a word of welcome, not a smile, nothing. The next morning, same coldness, not even a "thank you to stay with us". It is just a pity. Her life would be so much better if she was somewhat more pleasant.

Essentially we are happy with this chain of hotels and used you before on quite a few different occasions in different countries.
However, this stay was spoilt, we believe, by our room being immediately underneath the air conditioning unit.
InitiIally we could hear the unit machinery cutting in and out as it does to get to the right temperature, then it was continiuosly noisy.
We had booked for two nights and felt we didn't want to have a second bad night in that room, so we asked to be moved. Thankfully that was no problem, it was just disruptive.
We felt it was unfortunate to be allocated that particular room. Was the hotel quite full we wondered?
So not the best experience we are sorry to say. .
