We arrived 11/12/13 without a reservation at 5 PM and were given the last room, a suite; although it was the most expensive on our 7 day trip and the $17 tax added to that cost, the overall experience was terrific. The desk girls were very busy but still remained cheerful and helpful to everyone waiting; the Manager's Reception was not something we expected but it provided dinner for us and the young lady hosting it seemed to truly love her job; food presentation was great and everything was fresh and tasty. It was a cold night so the hot pulled pork was a treat. Room was vey roomy, comfortable and quiet even with a full house; all breakfast entrees were hot (not lukewarm like at most HIX) and the lady responsible for breakfast was very efficient and friendly. Whoever made the cookies (with M&Ms) did a good job! I am providing more details than usual so you can thank the appropriate people since we did not get their names. Next time we are this way, we would be sure to book ahead so we don't lose out. The manager must really appreciate PC members because the recognition was greater than in any other HIX we have stayed in; other managers have told us recognition depends on each hotel and the management. When we were at a higher level, the usual recognition was a bottle of water shoved across the desk to us. You seem to go above and beyond what is expected and we salute you for your gracious hospitality.
We weren't asked for a review, but wanted to give it because it was a wonderful overnight stay.

We always stay at HIE when traveling. We know that all of their hotels are clean, and they have good employees. We stayed overnight becuz my dr appt was at 9 a.m. That was too early to travel there on the right day.
One of my favorite things about HIE are the great cinnamon rolls that are served for breakfast. Imagine my disappointment when I read my instructions - No Food for Four Hours Before Appt. That was not good news. My husband did sneak a couple of rolls for me, so I ate them later.
A surprise was the wine, cheese, and appetizers that were offered to us from 5-7 p.m. There was a lot of good food for us to share. I had not been to an HIE that did have the party.
Becuz we are Priority Club members, we received a gift bag when I registered. It had snacks and a bottle of water. That was a nice touch.
I recommend staying at the Coralville HIE the next time you are in the area.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Regina19 Comfortable bed & breakfast choices
Room was almost perfect except walls are very thin.
Could hear everyone going down hallway & next door.
The bed was really comfortable & cozy.
I didn't sleep well only because I never do when I am someplace new. Great breakfast choices. Whatever you want they had.
I'm used to getting a choice of donuts. It was a really nice change.
I will recommend this to people but I will warn them of the noise.
If they can tolerate it.
It would be nice to have someone at front desk at all times.
Felt kinda weird to have to buzz for someone.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by rvb1217 Nice hotel in good location
This property is located right by the mall and several restaurants (all in walking distance). The staff was very friendly and check in was fast and efficient. The room was clean, well appointed and spacious. The bed is comfortable. I am very happy with the new pillows now being used...a much needed upgrade that the entire chain should benefit from. Breakfast options are just average. Would really like to see HIE update the selections and make them less processed. Overall, I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to others.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cobbie1589 Comfortable bed, nice staff
We had a suite that was very nice, however it was next to the ice machine and we could hear it running off and on. We enjoyed the breakfast the next day. Would have liked some fresh fruit but everything else was very good.
Would recommend staying here when in the area of Iowa City, IA.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by LUCEY1 I've stayed in better Holiday Inns
Stayed here because of an early doctor appt. Location was good. Close to the Iowa Hospital and Clinics, resturants and mall within walking distance . Staff was very curtious and friendly. Room fairly clean. Found more than one long.... black hair on door trim behind bathroom door. Sheets for sofa sleeper that were in a plastic bag were wrinkled. Questioned if they were clean. King size bed was not the best. Mattress was a little saggy and squeaky. Probably needs replacing soon. Room was tastefully decorated and had cozy relaxing colors. Pool was ok... but hot tub was dirty on the inside edges from people leaning up against it. Could see accumilation from human oils. I have my own hot tub at home so I know how it should be maintained. Also didn't have enough water in it. Breakfast was ok but the gravy for the biscuits and the biscuits were stone cold. Another guest i met in the elevator made the same comment about the gravy. I mentioned it at the desk upon check out and got an apology. Wouldn't stay at this location again. Kinda spendy for the conditions even with hospital discount. Would be alot better with just a few inprovements. But if you are not fussy about all this it's the place for you.
