Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty cutlery and tables - good room service Two night stay. Started off less than good with toilet cistern causing water pipes to rattle loudly. Manager fixed this OK. Each day the cutlery at breakfast was sticky and marked as if not properly cleaned. Apple and orange juices were pale and frothy, respectively! Had to wipe own table before it could be used. Staff clearly busy. Compared to HIE at Newport and Northampton, the breakfast selection was also poorer and the room smaller. July 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet I stayed overnight with my wife, her sister and husband. We had ground floor rooms, us at the back while they overlooked the car park. Although close to a busy road we had no noise problem there or with the car park. The reception was busy when we returned at about 23.30 but the room was quiet. We had a comfortable stay and would use this hotel again. July 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just a short hop to Gatwick Airport We booked this hotel because of its closeness to the Airport and not getting the hustle of loads of many other holiday makers going on holiday abroad as well. We are part of the IHG points reward system and were recognized for our status and upgraded to a very comfortable and spacious room. The enthusiastic staff were very helpful and offered us drinks from the lounge bar when we first arrived. Our room was very comfortable, spacious and the sleep quality was excellent, bed mattress and room darkness was excellent as we did a good night sleep for the 9 hour flight the next day. We were able to park our car close to the main hotel entrance as I was concerned about leaving it for a fifteen nights (under the one night stay and park deal). Overall a good experience and stay at this hotel. July 1, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Fails in many areas Over the last month or so, stayed in this hotel 5+ times. On each occasion there is something not right. 1 Dirty chair in room 2 Dirty cups in room 3 Lavatory leaking in room. 4 Air Con not working in room and room at unsleepable temperature 5 Violent intermittent noise (like a Tuba) emanating from pipework, so much so that items in room were shaking, and this was a known problem. 6 Insufficient silverware and chinaware at breakfast 7 Receptionist not providing Elite member benefits June 29, 2014

Breakfast was buffet with a limited selection, it was adequate although like most buffets some food was cooler than others and some food does not keep well in a buffet. June 25, 2014

Room was excellent - the only concern was the lighting in the bathroom, it was adequate but quite dim. Breakfast as always was buffet style with limited choice but ample quantities. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Surprise surprise! I'm a little bit anti brand name hotels, all too often you either pay for the name or they are lacking in 'Colour'. This was a surprise, the staff were very professional and polite.....and happy! The room, despite the size of the hotel, was very quiet. Breakfast was a little chaotic but reasonable. It was a very busy time when we arrived and when we left, yet no queues and no fuss. June 21, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed I stay in Holiday Inn Express hotels up and down the country, however the experience I have had at this hotel is making me wonder why I pay these costs. Its the little things that could easily be avoided if staff had the sense to think about their actions prior to undertaking tasks, on this occasion having placed the 'much needed sleep' card on the door I was awoken to housekeeping rolling out sticky plastic along the carpet outside my room, just no thought for the customers that were asleep in the early hours. Having been awoken, I decided to take the complementary breakfast so made my way down to find that there was scrambled egg and beans spread over the counter top, 1 slice of bread left, dirty cutlery and wet plates. I decided better of having a cooked breakfast, if this is the standard that they think is exceptable I didn't won't to risk anything from the kitchen, so I had cereal and coffee instead. Having sat down to have my cereal, housekeeping decided that this was the perfect time to hoover the area I was sitting in. I at this point gave up and returned to my room. Attention to detail is lacking in my mind with the management of this hotel and it is not going to be a hotel I will stay with in the future. June 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Crawley - Beware of Parking A good hotel, my other issue is the un-policing of the disabled bays outside the hotel. They are there for a reason....and when staying there recently, there were five vans blocking all the bays. After telling the Manager, two were moved. But this is unacceptable, these spaces should be policed. Otherwise what' s the point!!!!! June 20, 2014

Although not used the business facilities looked great and again clean and tidy. The common areas were also clean tidy and well maintained. I would recommend this hotel. June 12, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good price near airport We stayed at a number of Holiday Inn Express hotels during our stay in the UK. This was our first experience with this chain. Unfortunately we are comparing all hotels to the Holiday Inn Express in Portsmouth, UK--which was wonderful! They are really doing it right there! This hotel was fine. A great place to stay when flying out of Gatwick. A bit of a drive to get there though. It was the lowest price Holiday Inn Express of the entire trip--which was a welcomed relief! We did not get adjoining rooms here, or side by side rooms which we had requested (we were traveling with children). We were thankful that this hotel offered double bed rooms with a pull out sofa which allowed room for two kids in the room with us. The breakfast does not include as many items as some other HIexpress locations but it was good. The hotel is in an office park area. The wifi worked well. The front desk stall was friendly and helpful, especially Dan. We stayed here one night and rented two rooms. June 5, 2014

Customer service is meant to be big in the line of hotel, been treated better at a travelodge , even after spelling my name several time they still got it wrong the accused my partner of not paying for items at the bar when he paid cash! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by noise last seek I stayed and was given a room that I found out the following morning was being used as a polling station for the local elections................the people setting up the room woke my up at 5am which I was not happy about.........considering the staff knew this was going to be a polling station that had to be set up early, I felt a little more consideration could have been made to what room I was given...........not happy May 26, 2014

We used Priority Club points, were given a very friendly welcome, recognised as Elite members and given a room in what appeared to be a newer extension to the Hotel. It was warm, cosy and quiet. The Sofa Bed was already setup for the kids and they had a great nights sleep. We could have done with more pillows in the room, as there were only four for four people, but I am, sure if we had asked, we would have been given more. The Bathroom was great, as good as in a Holiday Inn with an excellent shower. Breakfast was timed just right as any later and it would have been a scrum, as it was Bank Holiday Sunday, very busy and staff had difficultly keeping up with the constant flow and therefore the demand on the breakfast fare! The breakfast we had was excellent, very filling and set us up for the activities of the day. All in all a lovely stay and we would highly recommend. May 8, 2014
