Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Stay Room type I got was very nice for a Holidayinn Express - also Bathroom was different in a positive way, as it had a large shower (and no shower curtain but a door, as it is usual in most European countries). No Parking Charges during stay. The only negative point are the Breakfast Choices and that there is no Restaurant nearby, except a poor Harvester Pub October 6, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 3rd stay in this hotel and won't be staying again. My family and I have stayed in this Holiday Inn on several occasions previously, as we have found it good value for money and with the Harvester pub just across the car park really convenient for relaxing in the evening after a long day training. This time however it was very different, I had booked 2 rooms as usual and rang to confirm that I could have them located together, only to be told that upon arrival they were near to each other but not next door as requested, they weren't actually even close, and also this time we stayed on the third floor and I have got to say I think the beds are the worst, the bed In our room felt like the mattress should have been replaced a decade ago. The staff who are normally helpful were miserable and unhelpful, the whole experience put a black cloud over our weekend, so much so that my husband has declared that we will not be returning to this hotel again in the future, which is a shame as we usually have to visit Crawley at least 4 times a year and now have to find somewhere else to stay. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Family room unsuitable for us Overall a good value hotel, great new shower suite & very clean, but we had a terrible night's sleep. The 4 person room is not ideally suited to family use as it has a double bed for kids to share, which is fine if one doesn't hog the limited space or cause an argument! Double bed matress wobbled like a jelly, so difficult to move without disturbing other person. Duvets way too hot. Completely down-lit bathroom & bedroom made it impossible to see what you were doing to apply make up (or shave for the men?). Breakfast saved the day. Plentiful supplies of Nutella to keep the children happy! October 4, 2013

The hotel's only fault in my view is the inadequate area dedicated to the breakfast serving area. It is difficult for more than 4 people to move around and the hotel capacity means that there is always limited space in this area. The contents and variety of food available is good value. Don't be deterred from using this hotel but do allow more time for breakfast than usual. October 2, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy lift all night Our stay at the Holiday Inn, Gatwick was comfortable but spoilt by staying in the room next to the lift on the third floor (322), the noise from the lift was disturbing all night. Be aware as well that we were "encouraged" to vacate the room by the chambermaid at around 9.15 in the morning, In general the hotel was as clean and comfortable as other Holiday Inn hotels, but we were a little disappointed in some aspects September 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, comfortable and good value. Stopped off here before an early flight from Gatwick. The first thing I noticed was the ample parking. That made a change, as when I've used other branded hotels around Gatwick I find myself hunting for spaces. Across the car park there's a Harvester restaurant, which served up an excellent meal that didn't cost too much. Room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. Everything was clean, tidy and well maintained. Our room was quite high up, so noise from outside was not an issue. I can't even remember hearing planes. We left for an early flight, so didn't get to experience the full breakfast. The staff did however open up early in order to allow us some toast, cereal and coffee. The staff incidentally were very courteous and helpful whenever we dealt with them. All in all we were very pleased with this hotel and will use it again. September 16, 2013

The room and breakfast was fine, but parking was sometimes difficult with the nearby restaurant sharing the same parking area. Overall, a good stay and would recommend to others. September 15, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smiley staff and up to date look We arrived very late and very tired, were glad the reception is open 24hrs and the check in was very quick and efficient! Went down for breakfast and everywhere we looked were the smiley faces of the staff, making us feel very welcome. Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, watching TV and eating breakfast in the lounge. The bedroom was excellent and the shower was probably the best I've ever come across. The decor was very contemporary which added to the whole experience. September 12, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value for money I chose this hotel as I was working in Brighton the next day and my experiences in Brighton in the past had not been good. The hotels are either over-priced or poor quality. I have had good experiences with Holiday Inn Express in other towns and this location is as good as them if not better. The price was reasonable, I'm tempted to say cheap and parking is free which makes a large difference. My only gripe is the lack off choice for breakfast and the coffee is not very good. I would like to see prepared fruit such as grapefruit/orange/melon please. Wifi connection was very good, room was very clean and comfortable and I will probably stay there next time I visit Brighton or Crawley. September 9, 2013

Only, but major problem is breakfast with watery beans and little for veggies. Meatties had hot food - egg and sausages so perhaps tomato and mushrooms for veggies? The staff is very friendly, the breakfast is great (good variety) and location is perfect to walk to train station and get train into London. I couldn't get into my room on arrival as it was blocked by an enormous two seater child buggy which remained for the duration of my stay. Was awoken about midnight by the snoring from both rooms on either side of me and I was wearing ear plugs! One of the worst stays I have ever experienced with your chain and I will be writing the same thing on trip advisor. Very disappointing Also I was not recognised as a gold card holder. The limited breakfast selection suits me very well - as a coffee & cereal person, I rarely go for anything more although there are other tempting items available (all inclusive). The separate restaurant business is also good value with a good choice of healthy options for evening dining. It closed earlier than I expected (maybe I was just later than expected) but with a late night supermarket just 3 mins walk away I was able to get a healthy late night sandwich, pasta salad & fruit very easily. Don't be put off by the fact that the hotel is in the middle of a large traffic roundabout - we had no issues with road noise whatsoever. The Hawth Park Inn next-door was pleasant and good value for an evening meal. September 3, 2013

A reasonably priced unlimited travel ticket including the train plus subway and bus makes getting around fast and simple. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by I will give a low rate for this hotel in my Europe trip First of all, this hotel is far from the city and close to Gatwick airport. One of the main reasons people come to this hotel is for airport transition. Strange thing is this hotel does not provide a shuttle service like most other airport hotels. This is very inconvenience to the travelers. And, the lobby staff is unfriendly. We came in for registration, the man in the front desk treat us like we begging his for something. Unlikely to willing provide the info we ask. When we ask how much to take a taxi to the terminal, but actually we paid about 19 pounds for the taxi. Also, this hotel is in the middle of somewhere. You can only take a taxi to get there. It is between the two train stations. We have to walk 20 minutes from the train station. Next will choose other hotel with shuttle service near the airport. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by slightly disappointed Parking was great, room and bathroom was great. We couldn't fault the room. The staff were alright but they weren't much help as they old us false information. But breakfast wasn't great at all, on our arrival we was told different times for breakfast than the actual times. When we got to breakfast on Sunday, there was hardly anything left at 9am. On Monday we got down at 9:30am baring in mind breakfast wasn't meant to finish till 11:30am due to bank holiday, when we got there, there was NO milk for cereal, when we asked for some more their reply was, we have no more and there was no toast or anything else. The fruit juice machine tasted of water the majority of the time. The staff just didn't seem to know what they were doing. When we come to check-out, we had to wait 10 minutes for a member of staff to appear to check us out as we couldn't find anyone about, also we wasn't given a receipt even though we asked. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Overcharge at checkout We booked two family rooms (9th to 12th Aug. and 9th to 14th Aug.) for three and five nights respectively. The staff was helpful and polite, the accommodation simple but clean and comfortable. The unpleasant experience came when we checked out. The man at the counter just told us that it was OK (our credit cards had been charged). He did not give us a receipt for the payment nor did he ask us if we wanted one. As we were in a hurry we did not realise at the moment that this was irregular practice. We have never before experienced that a hotel does not give a receipt for payment to the guest. When we got back to the hotel to collect our luggage we asked for a receipt. We were really surprised to find that the charges were far beyond the price that we had agreed upon when we booked the rooms. We complained immediately, but have not been refunded nor have we been given any explanation for the overcharge by the hotel. We sent two emails and phoned four times from Norway. Now more than one week after we complained, we are still waiting for an explanation and refund from Holiday Inn Express Gatwick-Crawley. I would advise all future guests to demand a receipt when you check out or if you forget this, check your bank account to see how much you have been charged. August 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable room, breakfast could be better We stayed 4 nights in this hotel, a few remarks: Room was comfortable, bathroom clean, beds very good. However, there was a strange smell in the room. Breakfast was a ratrace, both for guests and staff. It was absolutely impossible for the ladies - even with assistance from the receptionists - to keep up, despite their continuous running around and all their efforts. This situation resulted in a chaotic and dirty - buffet, tables & floor - breakfast room, not a very pleasant start. Besides, I would suggest to improve the quality of some items, specifically the sausages and (now instant??) scrambled eggs. August 7, 2013
