Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Anniversary Trip
My wife and I celebrated our 32 Year Anniversary with a Road Trip to Mount Rushmore and the surrounding areas. We used the Holiday Inn Express in Custer as our home base. Great location.

Great hotel! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We needed a late check out and they were able to do that for us.
Hotel and rooms were clean (liked the large bathroom). Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. And the kids loved the Pancakes at Night promoition.

I have stayed here multiple times, and the staff always deliver. This hotel is in an EXCELLENT location and maintained well. The rooms are great, the patio and fire pit are excellent touches, and the entire atmosphere fits perfectly for the the area. HIGHLY recommend. I had a last minute request and they took great care of me.

We wanted to redeem points and stay in the Black Hills for a few days. After looking at our IHG options, we landed on Custer location due to its proximity to the attractions we wanted to visit. If you are wanting a location that can serve as a basecamp to the area, the Holiday Inn Express in Custer will fit the bill plus more. From the outstanding customer service, fully stocked breakfast and super clean rooms, to well manicured landscaping and numerous seating areas, the hotel provides you comforts and amenities you have come to expect from HIE. In fact, this is one of the nicest HIEs I have ever stayed at.
Once at the hotel, you will want to drive. Yes, the hotel was a bit too far to walk into the downtown area, but the drive is very short. Within walking distance was the Flintstones restaurant and an ice cream parlor. A gas station is also within walking distance if you don't mind a longer walk.
All in all, clean rooms, numerous breakfast options, quiet/relaxing, lodge like feel, walking distance to some of the essentials, a location that delivers, and outstanding customer service. Kudos to local management for making this location - and our stay - so successful.

The staff was remarkably helpful and always pleasant and efficient. The hotel was beautiful and remarkably clean at all times. The breakfast was excellent. I travel a lot and no one has ever been so helpful, polite, professional and efficient throughout my stay. I couldn't be more pleased with my stay.

When we booked our road trip out west the Holiday Inn in Custer was booked, so we had to go with something else. What a horrible experience! We had people smoking right outside our door 24/7. Our room smelled awful! I called Holiday Inn on the chance they had a cancellation, and they did, so we went there for our 2nd night. What a blessing! Beautiful new hotel, rooms clean and NOT SMELLY! Lovely lobby with nice view of a water feature outside. I was so happy I almost cried! Thank you Holiday Inn! I slept like a baby!

Very nice room for 6 people. Plenty of space for a great value. Nice, big, clean bathroom. Kids liked the pool area and there was plenty of space to accommodate everyone for breakfast. Location was great. Could easily travel in all directions to visit landmarks and make day trips.
