This location is generally pretty nice and strictly in terms of the room condition I would recommend it. However, roommate service entered our room twice before our checkout time (once when I was still in the room). The manager eventually apologized and charged us half price for the room, but kept trying to avert the issue or even put the blame on us by saying we should've deadbolted the room--but the simple story is that it was extremely unprofessional and even intrusive for housekeeping to enter our room not once but twice.
Here's the detail: during the morning we were leaving, housekeeping knocked on our door, and as I was walking over to see who was knocked, they opened the room. This was totally uncalled for and unprofessional, as we had not checked out of our room. They did not even wait enough time for us to respond to the knocking.
Later, we went out of our room to go to the nearby Starbucks. I removed most of my luggage but deliberately left some items on the table to indicate that we were not checked out, since I suspected housekeeping might try coming in again. When we returned an hour later, there was a painter in the room and they had shifted all of the furniture around and removed our belongings! This was very upsetting and it turned out the a housekeeping personnel had saw us take some of our belongings down earlier, and assumed we had checked out. They then entered the room, removed our belongings and told the painter it was okay to paint the room.
I don't know where exactly the communication broke down, but it seems like a simple expectation that housekeeping would check with the front desk about the actual status of a room before assuming the guests checked out.
The manager was apologetic, but only still charged us for half the price, saying that for half our stay we were not disturbed. The money is not the big deal, but for something as intrusive as this I'd expect a reputable hotel to fully refund as a gesture of owning up to their fault. The manager did apologize, but kept on saying things like we should've deadbolted the room when we were in there, or that guests do leave unannounced, etc. I understand what he's saying but the bottom line is that before the official ending of the reservation, they should not assume the guests have left and housekeeping should not enter the room so abruptly. It was the single worst experience at a hotel.
I hope this is just a one time exception, but still giving a one star for the horrendous occurrence and for the way that the manager tried refusing to fully take on the blame for what their hotel personnel had done.

The pool is small. The surrounding area is not so great but I loved the fact that there was a Starbucks and Waffle House right next door. The breakfast was great and they serve later than most places.

worried about my stuff getting stolen.....still is a smoking hotel and we accidentally got put in a smoking room. They quickly changed it for us.

The elliptical machine needs repair and weight equip needs attachments and repair. Overall great experience, but exercise is very important to me on the road and a large consideration for future stay.

nice place - all went well - no disasters of any kind. The rooms were clean - which is what I check.
Breakfast was the usual. All around a good place - clean and modern.

The wonderful woman who checked us in was so witty and funny. I wish she was in every hotel I went to! The room was much larger than I was expecting and I was pleased that they put us on the first floor by a door because we had a baby with us. This made getting things in and out of the car to the room really easy!!! She even told us where to park for best access! We only stayed the one night but I would not only stay here again but recommend it to everyone and anyone!!!

I really appreciate the customer service that was available. I needed to mail out a very important document and not only was she able to provide an envelope for the letter but a stamp as well. I was highly impressed. Also the representative gave me a print out of the local restaurants around the area and direct directions the the Best Buy Store. The staff members at the front desk were very friendly and they interacted with the guest of the hotel as if they were family. The only downside I have is the complementary breakfast. I have been to other Holiday Inn Expresses and they had a waffle iron that you were able to make waffles. This location had a pancake maker which to some people it is the same thing but to me it is not. Other than that I enjoyed my stay.

Excellent experience from the parking lot all the way to our room. I can only give praise to all the staff and guest that attended my week long wedding. I can not express how satisfied I was with the entire staff from April 10 - 15, 2013.... If I could would love to attend a personal gift to each one of you. The staff treated me like a Queen and my husband like a King as we said our vows in the banquet room... I will cherish each day, because each day was very special... This was a 5 star hotel experience without going to a pricey hotel... Love the overall atmosphere and experience of the staff.. Not a great job it was a EXCELLENT JOB, from the staff.

Prob least impressive HI Express Ive stayed at. Paint chiping in room, and a dirty discolored grout line in tub. Had to make arrangements to get a piece of forgotten luggage returned. When it arrived the box continaed a large hair conditioner bottle that was not ours and it leaked allover the luggage. The insult to injury was my wife's expensive $100 dollar electric toothbrush was missing and she is positive she placed it in luggage. The staff was not very friendly on phone when trying to arrange pickup of the article. The fitness center was neither fit nor centered, odd arrangment of older equipment in dissrepair. Disappointed to say the least in entire experience. As a platinum member it definetly makes me consider a different loyalty program.

The staff was very friendly. We had 5 boxes arriving via FedEx, the desk staff stacked them on a cart for us. Service was excellent in breakfast room and housekeeping. Room was larger than expected, fresh and very comfortable. Planning on returning next year. Very good experience of Texas hospitality.

I have chosen to stay at the Dallas/Stemons property every time that I come into Dallas (well over 15 times). I have never had a bad experience. The accommodations are excellent and they definitely treat their priority club members as special. I get excellent rates, the rooms are always in excellent shape, beds are extremely comfortable, and the breakfast has great variety.

I travel around alot for my work,i always stay in a Holiday inn or Crown Plaza hotel. I've stayed in this Holiday inn three times already , it has a great location for working class to unwide. and a very comfortable setting and price. Lots of places to eat near by. Thanks Holiday inn.

I travel a lot for work and I have always stayed in IHC group hotels. I have always had a very pleasant experience, that is, until I stayed here. The lady at the front desk was beyond rude and entirely disrespectful. She acted as if every question I asked was either stupid or a huge annoyance to her and then she refused to make eye contact with me at all. I did not do anything to deserve to be treated in such a manner. When I had to return to the desk because the key card she gave me did not work she acted as if it was my fault, rolled her eyes at me, scanned a new card, and slapped it on the counter. Needless to say, next time I need to return to that area for work, I will absolutely not being staying at this establishment.

But not a dump or anything either. Quite frankly, it was just what I've come to expect from Holiday Inn Express properties. It was clean, in condition, had a decent breakfast and a staff that wasn't totally incompetent (big plus these days!). While the hotel is in a good location, it is also a little awkward to get to (hence the reason why "Location" is checked under both "Pros" and "Cons").

Stayed in room 205 and the stool overflowed twice, also during the night SAT, a drunk guest pulled the fire alarm about 2:00 AM, and both mornings the juice was not good, was watered down.

Great location for night life and easy route to Cowboyu Stadium.
The staff was very helpful with directions and what to be on the lookout for in West Dallas. The area is safe and major roadways right out the door.

We got a non-smoking room with a king-sized bed. The room was huge. Large modern-style bathroom with what appeared to be granite countertops. Blow-dryer in bathroom. Had a mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Had a sitting area with a couch and desk, then the bed and tv were towards the back of the room. Neutral decor. Everything seemed very clean. Breakfast was fresh and good. Saw a workout room with some treadmills but I didn't use it. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Check out is not until 11 or so, but housekeeping would not leave us alone! They came in without knocking the first time at 9:30am and then came back at 10:30 again! Hard to try and sleep in and relax if housekeeping keeps coming in. Other than that it was great!

I knew, from the moment I entered the hotel lobby, that something was very different than my many positive experiences at other HIE properties. The lobby smelled terrible. Unfortunately, the odor was also very strong in my room on the second floor. I had two other associates staying in the hotel, and both experienced the same foul odor (think, wet dog).
The property is dirty, the rooms dated, older TV, remote unresponsive, tub stained, cracked tiles, and on and on.
This location should not be included in the Holiday Inn Express chain. It is NOT worthy without a complete renovation. I will never stay there again.
