Although the hotel was busy and dealing with a large party of holidaymakers, they took time and trouble to try and resolve a booking problem I had, and went out of their way to try to help. the service in bar and restaurant was compromised by the needs of the large party, but the staff made every effort to minimise the effect on other guests, and were generally successful. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotelto anyone wanting to stay in this area

Can't fault any member of the staff, everyone was very friendly and more than capable of ensuring your stay to be relaxed and pleasant.

From first entering the hotel I felt as though I was 'in the way' of staff having a conversation. The lady at reception could do with a lesson in customer service. The room was dated and dirty. There was a selection of dead bugs between the window ledge and window. Having been travelling for 24 hours this was the last thing I needed. Breakfast was a true 'free for all' and the food was everywhere. I struggled with the level of hygiene as people picked food up, changed their minds and put it back. The scrambled egg had seemingly decided to leave its bowl and spread itself over all the surfaces, with no attempt made to clean it up. The trays we were supposed to use to carry the tray had clearly been used in a previous life to collect human hair, they were not something you would want to put your food on. I was very glad when checkout time came. The only positive is the two gentlemen who manned the desk during the night, they welcomed me in the evening with genuine care and interest. The rest was an extreme disappointment, having stayed in numerous Holiday Inn/Express this was the worse I have stayed in!

always good to know that the hospitality /cleanliness and food will all be of high standard at Holiday Inn Express , East Midlands. have stayed several times for holiday flights and /or family visits.

I stayed here for one night whilst on business nearby. The hotel is easy to find, on the main road from the motorway to the airport, and has a large car park reserved solely for guests (£4 per night).
Check in was extremely efficient and helpful, and there was a lively atmosphere in the bar from the other customers present, many of whom were clearly catching a flight.
My room was in good condition, well appointed, and had efficient air con. Although not in sight of the runway (much to my disappointment!), you could see aircraft coming in to land or having just taken off from the room - wonderful!
Breakfast was served from 4.30am (continental) or 6.30am including hot items, and was the usual Holiday Inn Express fare, albeit the scrambled eggs were a little more rubbery than is usually the case elsewhere.
I would have no hesitation in staying here, again, if in the area, and commend the hotel to you without reservation. Customer service was excellent from every member of staff, without exception.

Staff are great, room and facilities are as expected. Equipped with what you need, and clean (except for a very badly stained chair - who knows what that was but I certainly wasn't going to sit on it!). Windows were openable but of course then you get the noise from the road - the hotel is right on a roundabout and the entrance to a business park, not to mention the motorway which is close by and audible. Make sure you ask for a room on the back, otherwise you'll be kept awake all night if you choose to open a window rather than rely on the AC. Overall, fit for purpose but not by any stretch a relaxing place to stop over.
