First stay in a Holiday Inn Express but have stayed many times in the Holiday Inn itself. Very convenient for the airport, clean, spacious and with nice staff. Worth a visit.

We stayed in the east midland Hoilday Inn Express booked for two nights 24/25 December,
We booked and paid for our stay in September as they allowed us to take our small terrier dog with with, the room was clean to an avarage standard. The beds were both very uncomfortable and we found it very difficult to sleep even after a few glasses of Christmas cheer.
The staff on the other hand were fantastic and couldn't be be accomadating and helpful.
If the hotel had the beds of the permier inn it would be amazing .
My final gripe is my conformation said everything had been paid for but I was then charged £8 for parking!!!

Very basic this place but flying from EMA you need it of course.
Very basic/open bar/TV area about as big as a garden shed.
AND PAY for parking? even if staying there? lost by that!?
Very understaffed it seems?
2 problems I did not even get to tell anyone about so could not be bothered............................................................
In bathroom sink drain smelt awful-like dead rats were down there, had to leave it closed at all times.
Disinfectant can be bought for a quid?
and Sunday 8.30am a maid knocking on door to do room?
can they not find out who has NOT checked out and gone before waking you up? seems simple to me? another 30minutes sleep was all I needed with a long day ahead of me- NO CHANCE!
Breakfast only til 10 on a Sunday too?
is 10.30 not possible?
with all those maids up so early to do the rooms...........................?

After a long haul flight, and unable to travel any further, this overnight stay was exactly what we needed.
Friendly warm welcome, on a cold evening. Speedy check in.
Helpful knowledgeable and well presented staff.
Clean, comfortable rooms. Late check out......excellent!
Would not hesitate to use this hotel again, and recommend it to others.

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel because we always try to stay at Holiday Inns, as they are such good value for money and extremely comfortable. We have stayed in a number of Holiday Inn hotels across the UK and have always had a great stay. However, this hotel was even better than usual. The staff were lovely, the room was spotless (as usual) and the breakfast was great. There were a few more items to choose from and everything was well cooked and well presented. I would recommend this hotel every time.

We were disappointed with the evening meal this was of poor quality considering the price. The meals were obviously already prepared & just microwaved up, the presentation poor & sloppy, we were quite hungry & not wishing to make a scene we ate what was edible & left for the room & a very good nights sleep.
We would use this hotel again for the convenience of nearness to the airport, comfort etc. of the room but will not have a meal unless the quality is improved. The hotel we recommend the food we don`t.

We travelled with our 3 year old and obviously with it being november she was in need of a comfortable warm room. However the room we were allocated had no heating. My husband rang reception after we had been in the room about 40 minds and realised we couldn't get it working. We were told it takes a while and to call back if it didn't come on later. After another half hour my husband rang again and someone from reception came up. He acknowledged it wasn't working and said he would bring a fan heater which we had already mentioned we didn't want due to our toddler having a bad chest. He said he was going to have a word with someone and would call us back. After a further half hour and no call back yet again my husband got in touch with the same man on reception. He said he would change our room if it still wasn't working and would call us back when he had got us a room. Another 45 mins and another phone call we eventually got moved. This wasted our evening and left a bitter taste about the hotel.

I stayed at Holiday Inn Express at East Midlands airport as I was attending the British GT sportscar championship weekend at Donington Park circuit. The hotel had a great location for me as the airport shuttle bus service that passes Donington Park has a bus stop situated right outside of the hotel so it was very easy for someone like myself who didn't have access to a car that weekend to get to and from the circuit.
I dined in the restaurant that night and really enjoyed my meal, the free wifi in my room was a bonus, and I had a good nights sleep (no airport noise from planes, etc#.
The breakfast the next morning was self service and of decent quality #you could have as much or as little as you liked), although obviously you don't get the full range of hot items as you would at a normal Holiday Inn.
I hope to be staying at this hotel again when I attend the same event next year

We experienced excellent, friendly service for a great price. This was the first time we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express having always stayed at Holiday Inn, but the quality of service & comfort is excellent, in fact we've said we'd look at H I Express hotels more often & save some money at the same time.

The only negative about our visit was the time for breakfast. 0930 is a very early time to finish service - appreciate that this is linked to early flights -not everyone who stays is flying out. We missed breakfast and had to go to elsewhere.

It was a minor issue, I was only staying the one night and as it was late I didn't fancy changing rooms but mentioned it to reception when checking out in the morning (room 205 1/11/2013 check-out).

We booked a room for one night before we flew out from EMA to Spain. We arrived to a warm welcome from the staff, however when we entered our room we were disappointed to find a cramped room in which two adults, an 8 year old child and a one year old child were expected to share. We found that the travel cot we had requested was not in the room and It was already a tight squeeze to walk around the beds. We contacted reception to alert them to the need for a cot and also asked if there was anything else they could offer us as the room was overcrowded, they said no the hotel was full.
We were forced to spend time in the bar and games room so our children had space to explore and spent a short, but uncomfortable night climbing over beds to get to the bathroom and shower.

I was really impressed with this hotel. It was excellent value for money. The room was comfortable, well furnished with a very suitable bathroom. It is very close to the airport but you would never know it as there was no noise in the room at all.
I was surprised that evening food was served, but it was very good in quality and value. The eating area is comfortable with sofas as well. Plus breakfast was included and very good.
Finally there is also free broadband all the time you are there.

We spent a great night here prior to our flight/holiday
There is a small menu for evening meals - unusual for a Holiday Inn Express. It was very quiet both in terms of residents and locality.
It is not on the airport. We booked a weeks car parking and left the car in their car park. This came with a free taxi shuttle to and from the airport which was quick and eifficient.
The staff were very friendly and kind.
The bar prices were high though, but as epxected for airport hotels.
An easy to recommend place to stay

Good experience on check in, we arrived at our room to find that it had not been hoovered. there were chocolate and crisps over the carpet (too much for the cleaner to simply "miss" we would have mentioned it but we were in too much of a rush. Also the toilet seat seemed to have ground in dirt which was slight off putting.
Overall the room was a good size and the bed was comfortable.
Breakfast was ok. we arrived at 9.15 (they finished at 9.30) and there was not much hot items left which were not replenished.
`would have mentioned the room issues on checkout but we were not even asked how our stay was so didn't bother!

The room was just what the doctor ordered after a long day.
Comfortable, clean, and a sofa to relax on. The bed was also very comfy. Would definitely stay here again. The chance to have a breakfast at 5.00am is a great idea if you have an early flight.
Everything about this place is really well thought out and very professionally managed.

There were more staff at the check in area and as polite as ever. The only downside to the stay was the evening menu choices, it was variable but having an autistic son he only likes certain foods and that item was no longer available. that is the ONLY negative comment i feel the to make at this time.

Hotel upto standard and staff friendly and helpful.
I still don't understand why there is a parking charge for this hotel.
No parking charges at other HIE properties and I know this wasn't charged 2 years ago. Real shame.
