Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Stay We travelled with our 3 year old and obviously with it being november she was in need of a comfortable warm room. However the room we were allocated had no heating. My husband rang reception after we had been in the room about 40 minds and realised we couldn't get it working. We were told it takes a while and to call back if it didn't come on later. After another half hour my husband rang again and someone from reception came up. He acknowledged it wasn't working and said he would bring a fan heater which we had already mentioned we didn't want due to our toddler having a bad chest. He said he was going to have a word with someone and would call us back. After a further half hour and no call back yet again my husband got in touch with the same man on reception. He said he would change our room if it still wasn't working and would call us back when he had got us a room. Another 45 mins and another phone call we eventually got moved. This wasted our evening and left a bitter taste about the hotel. November 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay I stayed at Holiday Inn Express at East Midlands airport as I was attending the British GT sportscar championship weekend at Donington Park circuit. The hotel had a great location for me as the airport shuttle bus service that passes Donington Park has a bus stop situated right outside of the hotel so it was very easy for someone like myself who didn't have access to a car that weekend to get to and from the circuit. I dined in the restaurant that night and really enjoyed my meal, the free wifi in my room was a bonus, and I had a good nights sleep (no airport noise from planes, etc#. The breakfast the next morning was self service and of decent quality #you could have as much or as little as you liked), although obviously you don't get the full range of hot items as you would at a normal Holiday Inn. I hope to be staying at this hotel again when I attend the same event next year November 20, 2013

This was the first time we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express having always stayed at Holiday Inn, but the quality of service & comfort is excellent, in fact we've said we'd look at H I Express hotels more often & save some money at the same time. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Small room for a family of four.... We booked a room for one night before we flew out from EMA to Spain. We arrived to a warm welcome from the staff, however when we entered our room we were disappointed to find a cramped room in which two adults, an 8 year old child and a one year old child were expected to share. We found that the travel cot we had requested was not in the room and It was already a tight squeeze to walk around the beds. We contacted reception to alert them to the need for a cot and also asked if there was anything else they could offer us as the room was overcrowded, they said no the hotel was full. We were forced to spend time in the bar and games room so our children had space to explore and spent a short, but uncomfortable night climbing over beds to get to the bathroom and shower. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really good Value for money I was really impressed with this hotel. It was excellent value for money. The room was comfortable, well furnished with a very suitable bathroom. It is very close to the airport but you would never know it as there was no noise in the room at all. I was surprised that evening food was served, but it was very good in quality and value. The eating area is comfortable with sofas as well. Plus breakfast was included and very good. Finally there is also free broadband all the time you are there. October 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Pre-Flight hotel We spent a great night here prior to our flight/holiday There is a small menu for evening meals - unusual for a Holiday Inn Express. It was very quiet both in terms of residents and locality. It is not on the airport. We booked a weeks car parking and left the car in their car park. This came with a free taxi shuttle to and from the airport which was quick and eifficient. The staff were very friendly and kind. The bar prices were high though, but as epxected for airport hotels. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice comfortable hotel, shame about the cleanliness Good experience on check in, we arrived at our room to find that it had not been hoovered. there were chocolate and crisps over the carpet (too much for the cleaner to simply "miss" we would have mentioned it but we were in too much of a rush. Also the toilet seat seemed to have ground in dirt which was slight off putting. Overall the room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was ok. we arrived at 9.15 (they finished at 9.30) and there was not much hot items left which were not replenished. `would have mentioned the room issues on checkout but we were not even asked how our stay was so didn't bother! The bed was also very comfy. Would definitely stay here again. The chance to have a breakfast at 5.00am is a great idea if you have an early flight. The only downside to the stay was the evening menu choices, it was variable but having an autistic son he only likes certain foods and that item was no longer available. that is the ONLY negative comment i feel the to make at this time. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fab staff, lovely room..... Shame about the breakfast! I stayed here for one night before an early flight the next day. The staff at reception could not have been more pleasant or helpful. The room was very clean and tidy, had everything I needed and was quiet and comfortable. The only down side was the breakfast... Or none breakfast I should say. I knew it was included so when I arrived I asked what the situation was as I would be leaving at 4.30am, I was told that wasn't a problem as they start serving at 4 am. and I could therefore enjoy my breakfast at the hotel or even help myself and take some things with me. When I got to the food area all that was out to eat was cereal. I put my glass under the machine promising fresh orange juice - all that came out was water, I repeated this with SIX more glasses but water was the only result. I got a Mocha out of the coffee machine - this was awful sugary milk. A man came in who looked like a regular - I asked him about the food and was told that anything other than cereal never appeared before about 7 am - not even toast... If you say you serve breakfast from 4am then something MORE than cereal and horrible machine coffee is required - it is MOST disappointing. On a personal note, when I was checking out I asked the receptionist to post a letter for me - she said she wasn't allowed, only management can do that - why?? September 28, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Hotel, very comfortable and welcoming Myself and my Mother stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on 31st August to catch our flight from East Midlands the following morning. We were welcomed by such friendly, helpful and extremely efficient staff. Check in was fast, hotel spotless and easy to find. Room was brilliant, very comfortable bed and even had firm or soft pillows. Very quiet and we had the best nights sleep in ages. We both had an evening meal which was better than excellent and very good value. Breakfast the following morning was more than we expected as we had an early morning flight. Plenty of variety and choice of food and drink. The fact than we helped ourselves for breakfast was a very good plus point as we could spend time and choose our food. Taxi service was spot on, arrived very fast both going and coming back. Because of our stay at this hotel we would now not be put off by booking flights from East Midlands Airport, before we didn't want the extra hassle of driving there from Middlesbrough. We felt very comfortable staying at this hotel, would definately recommend it, in fact we have already to friends and family. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overnight Visit I booked this room through American Express. The room was good. The breakfast was OK; the usual standard. On departure I was charged £4 for parking. This charge was not detailed on the on-line description nor in the confirmation e-mail (s). The reception staff were unapologetic and aggressive when I complained about the charge. IHG need to look after their regular customers and be more open and honest about charges at the hotel. Disappointed with additional charges and staff attitude. September 9, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Airport package - highly recommended We used this as an overnight stay before flying the next morning. The room was clean, comfortable beds and pillows. Double glazing so we could not hear anything outside. Reception and waiting staff were very friendly. Evening meal was lovely as well as the breakfast. Cooked breakfast does not start until 6.30am just wished that started earlier, but continentsl breakfast was just as pleasant. Very impressed with the shuttle service in morning and on our return. On way there a people carrier took 4 of us and on return a premium class car was waiting to take us back to the hotel which is literally only 5 mins away and took us straight to our car in the car park.
