Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by What you get is not what you pay for This is the second time at this hotel that I experienced that the front desk tries to keeps the guest on a short leash, trying to run their operation by a very strict rule book. Too many people trying to prove themselves being tough. This is a very unpleasant and unwelcoming experience. I have never experienced this in any hotel of IHG and I've seen a fair amount around the world. The front desk needs to realise that a smoking room is a room where a non-smoker can smell even the smallest quantity of smoke. The cushins on the bed were drenched with it for at least 2 nights. Please don't make me believe that I will not smell the smoke, because we both know it is not true. This is also the only hotel in the IHG chain I have experienced where the bar/restaurant first verifies whether there is a positive balance on the overall statement before allowing the guest to charging a bill for lunch food to the room. What is this? Goes hand in hand with first comment. The staff should take ordered food to the room instead of the guests themselves. Empty minibars / fridges are of no use. Rightly said, it is a 2 star hotel, but for 4-star pricing. Lot's to be improved, start with changing the management and front desk staff. October 30, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express with a toddler The staff are very helpful both at the reception and at the restaurants, they did everything to make it work. The room was not clean and there were not many food options for small children. I had to have it custom-made and paid double the price. I LOVED the huge loan next to the hotel, where my baby could run around and enjoy the evening. It would be great if there was a shuttle pick up from terminal 2. I was with a small child and could not wait to get to the hotel room to sleep. I paid for the taxi, and the taxi expense, combined with the hotel room expense was equal to staying at the Terminal hotel, which I may do next time. October 28, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bed ok,friendly service. Best of all is the location This was the third time I stayed at the HIEx in 2 weeks. Despite asking for a room with no adjoining door and some form of a view,I was not able to achieve this. I was not really recognised as a Platinum Member. Worst of all,the Clerk who checked me in forgot to return my passport and it was found later in the scanning machine. I was MOST concerned. October 6, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 3 steps forward 3 steps back... I landed at 2:20am and had a flight at 12:30pm so I had decided to get a few hours of sleep in a proper bed. Good decision. I didn't need the frills, just a comfy bed. The guy at the IHG booth pointed me towards the shuttle which took me directly to the hotel. One step forward for the shuttle. Check in was swift, service polite, felt acknowledged, went to room. One step forward for the staff. Room was sparse, after all it is an Express, but bed comfy although I thought the pillows were unusually small. Whatever. One step forward for the room. Shower, couldn't get it to hot. It was 4am and i wanted a hot shower and to go to bed. Bed was more important than complaining. Had a cold shower. One step back for the room. Called maintenance in the morning. At first he couldn't get it to hot either. Eventually he fixed it. No steps anywhere because I had expected it to work in the first place. Went to breakfast. Not amazing. The Holiday Inn Express at Melbourne Airport had a small but fabulous breakfast. This one wasn't at all. And no omelette station. Pile of fried eggs not particularly hot and sausages inedible. One step back for breakfast. Then... the piece-de-rating-resistance... Got into the shuttle bus to the airport, went to various terminals, advised to wait, was not advised to get off, bunch of people got on, and 30 minutes after leaving the hotel, the driver drove me and this one other guy back to the hotel! One giant leap backwards for the shuttle. Super annoyed, I demanded the concierge guy pay for a cab. He instead arranged the shuttle to leave again immediately and to go straight to departures and was there in about 8 minutes. Responsiveness to crisis well-handled, but no points for that. The driver said he had forgotten and had got distracted with the bunch of regular standby-flight customers who had got on. A presumably one-off mistake that is difficult to tarnish an entire hotel, but it did tarnish my experience of it. I'd probably choose another in the IHG group instead next time. October 1, 2013

Still, represents good value with highly dedicated and friendly staff in all departments especially F&B (I use this venue for business meetings and conferences). Very hands-on management team with a professional approach to customer -focused service. As a health-conscious, family-oriented customer, smoking in the enclosed bar and surrounding areas is an issue that warrants some attention. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Our overnight stay The room was very comfortable however there were 3 of us staying in the room and only two sets of towels, two mugs & enough Tea & coffee for two people so we had to ask for extras. It would have been nice if this had been taken care of before we arrived. I was a bit surprised there wasn't the usually toiletries in the bathroom however Im guessing with it being a Holiday Inn Express you're just expected to ask for all these items. September 9, 2013

Check-in was really quick, with great customer service, and the shuttle service to the airport efficient. The rooms were definitely a lot more plush than I expected, with really comfy beds, from a Holiday Inn Express, and I would defintely stay here again! September 7, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed feelings Our stay was pleasant enough. The room was clean and comfortable. Members of staff were helpful and accommodating. The transport between the airport and hotel was also appreciated – especially the free water on the bus! Yet there were some issues that left us hesitating about future booking. The main concern was no immediate access to our room. We arrived after 9 am from a long haul flight and had to sit around the lobby until 11.30. For a hotel in the vicinity of an airport this was not helpful. The $50 price tab for a bottle of bog-standard wine in the bar was somewhat over the top! Also the breakfast food was warm rather than hot, plus, the eggs looked more scrambled than fried. September 2, 2013

Yes the sercuity guards allowed ladies of the night, who ask me for money for a good time in the hotel like it was a normal thing. I will not stay at this hotel again and I will not allow any of my employees or family members to stay there either. August 23, 2013

If only all IHG hotels will do that, reminds their guest members what benefits do they get if they are IHG member cards would be so much easier. Love the variety of food at the buffet. Restaurant staff is very friendly and courteous. Not very fund of the shuttle system. This was my third stay and each time the shuttle was a long wait. Even upon departure I was sitting in the lobby 20 minutes prior to expected departure time and mystically missed the shuttle. Overall my stay was great. August 17, 2013

The shuttle dropped three of us off at the arrivals terminal instead of the departures terminal forcing us to walk with all our bags in the heat outside. The breakfast didn't even have a cook and most things were cold. There was no pool. It was just a bad experience. When you pay that much money, one should get much more than that. I would not recommend this hotel. Sorry, that is the truth. August 16, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just Great Value Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, nice gym. If you like airplanes great place, you can see Airbus A380's out of your bedroom window, if you hate airplanes it's also a great place, because you don't hear them ;) Every 30 minutes a shuttle takes you to the Airport where there is connection to the Dubai Metro if you want to go on the cheap. There is also a Dubai Metro station at 5 minute walking distance (if you are not afraid of the heat). August 5, 2013
