In fairness to HIE, I did not specify my expectations when I made the reservation, and did not request another guest room when I discovered that the expected amenities were not available. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible Service The staff and managers at this hotel are terrible. They make you feel like you are an inconvenience to them. They all need to attend a class on what it means to serve a customer. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Kentucky on our way home and their service was outstanding. The Duncan, SC hotel should learn from them or remove them (including the management) entriely from this hotel. I have never felt this way by any other staff at other hotels. I would never stay at this hotel again even if it was for free. July 28, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Shower This was a nice property, clean with cmforttable beds and the shower worked really well. Breakfast was typical of most that I've experirnced. The biggest downer was the lock on the door, it took several tries to get the card to work and enter the rooom. Maybe I don''t know ho to use the locks but it was different from nearly other type I've encountered. All in all, this was a good stay and if I were in the area again I would certainly pull in. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel, Not the front office Staff My wife and I was on our way to her Residency with her college university in Peachtree Ga. and stopped at this hotel on our way from Maryland. When we walked in, the front office person, J was on the computer and did not acknowledge that we were standing there until he finished. Normally a professional will state "I'll be right with you" and that would have been sufficient. We checked in and proceeded to our room. Entering into the room, I noticed the plate on the door around the latch was loose, missing a screw. I had to hold the plate in to close the door properly. I mentioned this to J and he said he would have it looked at and repaired. We were only staying for one day and the latch was not a big deal for us but left that way could be problematic for those coming behind us. The door latch was not looked at or repaired and J did not address it further. In a nutshell, the hotel amenities was great; however the professional service that HIE provides was non apparent. On our way back from Ga to Maryland, we will be sure to skip this HIE. May 6, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall a Nice Hotel This hotel appears to be pretty new. Facilities are first rate. Staff was great. Good nights sleep. Bed was very comfortable. Only negatives are very limited dining near the hotel, other than fast food. There are also sevral truck stops near the hotel and the heavy truck traffic is an issue. April 28, 2014

Although it is normally a good visit, this visit included water shut off for several hours without notification, owner walking into room without knocking and housekeeping supervisor walking into room after knock and swipe of key card and no announcement as to who it was. Upon arrival front desk personnel appeared to be on personal call and rather than put the person on hold, finished conversation, took another call and completed the new reservation before handling the person standing in front of her. She then asked if we wanted a gift bag for 500 points which included a bottle of warm water and trail mix. As always, the housekeeping staff did a consistently good job, as did the breakfast buffet and Wednesday night buffet staff. April 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I-85 Travelers Take Note Just off I -85 in Duncan SC this HI Express offers comfort for the weary traveler. It's tucked back on a frontage road so don't get lost trying to locate it. Your GPS will lead you too far up the road but your iPhone should take you to the correct place. And if all else fails, call the front desk, they will guide you right to the location. The rooms are very clean and quiet, which is surprising since it is about 400 yards from a major truck fueling center. I slept like a baby. Near to BMW and plenty of eats close by within a 2 to 3 mile area. March 15, 2014
