Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by "Less than ideal" would be an understatement I'm afraid my experience this past weekend was one of the worst in my history of traveling. I attended a conference in Duncanville for my company and since I had only been home for a few days from my last conference, I thought it would be a great idea to take my wife and daughter with me to get to spend some time with them. The disparity between our expectation and our experience was evident as soon as we checked in. We booked a room through the Holiday Inn Express website that was listed as a "2 bedroom" This was not the case. It was one bedroom with a pullout bed in the living room. I travel quite a bit and every hotel I've stayed at from LA to NYC refers to such a set up as a "One bedroom suite". My wife immediately noticed the musk-like odor of the room but I'm hesitant to lay this at the hotel's charge considering the fact that she's 8 months pregnant and there isn't too many smells that she is fond of. However, the remaining items on the list making this the less than ideal hotel experience, is one you needn't be pregnant to take offense to. While chipped and peeling paint is not signs of the most well-kept establishment, it really wouldn't have bothered me had I not been with my pregnant wife and 5 year-old daughter. Our first night attempting to sleep at the hotel was interrupted by a fire alarm that went off for over ten minutes. After asking when it would be silenced hotel staff simply stated they "didn't know and are trying to figure out how to turn it off." Once the alarm finally did get cleared and we went back to sleep, the fire department shows up knocking on the door saying they were getting an alarm signal from our specific room. I asked if they needed to come in and inspect anything and they said not as long as we didn't smell any smoke. After a large cup of coffee (I'm not a "coffee drinker") and hearing my wife complain about how she couldn't get back to sleep, I made it through my first day of the conference. I met back up with my family and attempted to go back to our room to turn in for the night. This proved to be a task much more elusive than one would think as we learned our hotel keys no longer worked. I went back downstairs (leaving my wife sitting in the hallway outside of our room) and explained the faulty keys to the front desk attendant. He was very polite and after clicking around on the computer for a few moments, he apologized and explained that our keys had accidentally been set up for only a one night stay. I went back to the room and went to sleep (fortunately it was not interrupted by a fire alarm) however, when we woke the next morning to go downstairs we noticed the sign on the elevators said "Out of order". At this point I was sure that our stay couldn't get any worse. I was wrong about that when we brought our dirty clothes downstairs only to see a similar "Out of order" sign on the laundry facilities. Completely convinced that upper management had to be unaware of the operations of the hotel, I stopped by the front desk and asked the girl there if I could leave my info for the general manager to give me a call. She asked me what it was in regards to and if there was something she could help with. Once I told her I was very displeased with the experience she promptly accepted my card, apologized and said she would have the GM give me a call. So as I drove back home (With dirty laundry in tow) I tried to reason with myself and understand that it wasn't likely I would get a call on a Sunday. However, Monday arrived... And Tuesday... And as of the time of this writing 7pm on Tuesday, I have yet to receive a call from anyone at the hotel. August 18, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Older Hotel, Needs Updates Generally speaking, the hotel felt dark - the room was dark, the carpet was dark, the bathroom was darker than other Holiday Inns. The breakfast area was crowded and difficult to navigate. However, the room and bathroom were clean, great toiletries, easy access outlets (including direct USB plug ins!). The air conditioner felt like it ran a little warm, but we just cranked it further down and were plenty comfortable. Comfortable mattress and plenty of comfy pillows. August 13, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Staff but maid service a bit lacking. The staff was very helpful and nice. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The room was not filthy but there were lots of stains on the carpet and upholstery of the chairs and on the bench. There was a blood stain on the duvet but we had an extra one in a plastic bag in the closet that did not have any stains. There was a crusty stain on the carpet right next to the bed nearest the window but we barely walked over there so it was not horrible but it did make for one uncomfortable moment when barefoot I stepped on it late one night. The other problem we had was that after the first night the maid replaced our coffee pot but did not clean out the coffee grounds and then did not leave us any replacement coffee for the next morning. The next day the maid forgot to leave any new towels which we did not notice until after my husband had his shower so he had to use the hand towel we had been using. All these instances mentioned would not deter us from staying here again but it was not ideal and I felt they should be mentioned. August 6, 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good but.... I have never had any problems with a Holiday Inn until now. The hotel was great. The service was great. Breakfast did not have much of a variety. They were short on towels at the front desk until house keeping would come in. The biggest issue was at check out. They over charged me from my reservation by almost $200. The manager was not on site so of course I had to wait till the next day. I called 3 times before I got a response from the manager but not before I have to call customer service. He did call to say he took care of it on Monday but he never called to tell me that. But all in all in was a nice place good service. July 29, 2015
