Overall stay was ok. The renovation work at the hotel is a big downgrade as the hotel looks shabby , there is construction noise and common areas are also blocked.
Though most of the staff are very helpful I did find some staff not so.
Rooms are comfortable and clean. The TV channels are less. Internet speed is very average or below average. Speed checked showed 1.95MB download and 1.9 upload.
Location is very good and good restaurants within a mile.

Despite the shock of seeing a hotel at arrival that I was convinced must be closed for wholesale renovations, I found much of the hotel was working in a reduced fashion. The staff were great, the room was fine, and true to promise no construction was going on in the early or later hours. I would also highly compliment the free breakfast service - it was great. So once the renovation is complete, I know the overall experience for future travelers will be excellent.

About a week after I had made my reservation, I called to see if I could change the type of room I had reserved from one king bed to two queen beds, as I would now be sharing the room with my daughter. It was college graduation week-end and I knew they were booked solid so I knew it was a long shot. The desk clerk said she would make a note of it and contact me if it became possible. To my surprise, I got a call a few days before I arrived saying the change had been made. Very impressive.

Location is good. Food was adequate. Not as much of a selection as other locations I've stayed out. Wireless speed was poor. At 4 am, you had 2 Mb download but after 5 pm until 9:30 pm, less than 0.1 Mb.
Would stay at this hotel again.

I have stayed here before but.....
After a day of work I entered my room on the 1st floor. Room smelled strange upon entry. Grabbed quick shower and noticed my toiletries were moved into the bath area along with the trash can. Upon inspection I noticed water in my toiletry bag and trash can. Further inspection there looked to be a water leak above the sink area. Went to front desk and inquired about what happen in my room? Apparently contractors or removing toilet from room above and water drained from room above through ceiling. I then asked someone entered my room and didn't contact me? Also possibly brown water all over my toiletries and the contractor tried to clean up and hide it from me? Not happy,I left and bought all new toiletries. The manager on duty asked to refund me for my out of pocket expenses. I denied and then moved to a reventaded room. Room was nice but smelled like fresh wet paint. Ugg. Guess spire elite has its privileges. Ha. I have stayed at many holiday inns and have never had this experience. Hope after all the renovation it's much better.
I'm at the Holiday Inn Martplaze in Chicago and it's fantastic.

This hotel was under a major construction renovation when I stayed. This was problematic in many ways (noise, room and amenity availability, etc). However, the staff were top notch. They worked diligently to make sure my every need was met as timely as possible. They were caring and wonderful, and were working with limited resources during this time. It was most impressive and appreciated. The hotel will be beautiful once finished. Great job, guys!!
