Hotel is in the process of a remodel, which it desperately needs. The exterior appears to be like every other HIE, but the interior is awful. The rooms are poorly furnished, old and rundown. I must say the room was very clean and the staff was very polite, but I would recommend avoiding this hotel.

We stayed two nights while checking out Bradley University. The hotel was undergoing renovations, but that had minimal impact on our visit and should be complete soon (October 2013). The room was quiet even though the hotel was near the highway (our room faced away from the highway). They gave us one trail bar and bottle of water as a check in gift, and the next day they had great cookies to give us as we came and went.
The breakfast was great for the carnivore and omnivore in the family, with eggs, sausage or bacon, biscuits, and gravy. For the vegetarians, there were muffins (freshly made), breads, homemade cinnamon rolls, pancakes (from a "make your own" machine), oatmeal, yogurt, and more. Coffee and tea, juices, milk.
Overall, a good experience. DIdn't have time to check out the pool or fitness room, but the Internet was free and easy to access.

Even though they are doing improvements to the hotel. We were not inconvenienced at all. They are painting, and installing new carpet and padding, but the facility was still very clean. Located right off of I-74 in East Peoria. It is very accessible, and convenient. We will definitely be staying here again.

We had a whirlpool suite...very nice room, nice vanity, and comfy bed. Tv was really small though which was funny considering we had a suite . But for the price and the great service we received from the clerk at the front desk (I think her name was Gloria?) the tv
Isn't a big deal

I had a very nice large room. The TV selections were good and internet worked well and fast. Breakfast was good with some good selections, but I was disappointed that the cheese omlette was not available that morning. The staff was very nice on check in and the housekeeping staff was also cheerful and greeted me. The room was clean and I will return to this hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pilot3503 few electrical outlets
hotel was nice, staff was great. My only issue was the lack of electrical outlets near the workstation to charge devices while working. There also needs to be an outlet on the nightstand so a cell phone can be charging at night and close at hand as well.

I have to say it was clean. Housekeeping did their best to accommodate us, but the phone didn't work, the hairdryer and the machine to make pancakes wasn't working. We had a King size bed with a sofa bed and the comforter had a big yellow stain on it. I usually try to overlook things and know things aren't perfect but I chose this hotel because of the reviews and they were positive. My experience could have been the exception but just putting it out there.

We were on our way to Chicago and decided to spend a day to unwind and relax before driving again. This hotel is close to the interstate, shopping, and the casino. Although, we did not go to the pool it looked very relaxing. There were a bunch of teenagers in the hotel from a softball game but we were not disturbed by them. We found our room comfy and quiet. The breakfast items had the usually items: eggs, pancakes, juice, etc. It was fine...nothing wonderful. It was just enough to hit the spot and continue on our way. We also wanted to take advantage of this time and wash clothes. I am glad we went early to wash because there was only 1 washer and 1 dryer.
I do want to mention that after we came in at night, the lady behind the desk offered to make us some coffee. She was very nice and said that it would only take 2 minutes. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and polite.

I travel for work and when I do, I like to not have my room turned down while I am staying at a hotel. I put the do not disturb sign on the door and when I got back to my room at night, the maid service had turned my room down, moved my personal belongings, etc. I essentially had to throw away my hygiene items, because I was not sure what they had touched. Not the kind of thing you want to have to think about after being away from family and working a long day on the road...... Disappointed.

My husband and i was in Peoria attending a funeral. Your hotel was a little out of the way for us and the construction in your area was not pleasant, but nothing is perfect, and we will definitely stay there again.
Your staff, Gloria, Lanette and Julie was very professional. With their wonderful personality they know how to make a guest feel welcome. You are very fortunate to have these ladies working for you.
Oh!!, your breakfast was the best, I sure would like to know where you buy those scrumptious Cinnamon Muffins.
I think Julie was the lady that does the breakfast, well, she should be commendatory for her work. Sunday, you had a group of young kids and they were definitely a hand full. Julie was in a fast run but she kept everything clean and fresh.
My hat is off to you Julie.

We happened to stay on a weekend when the middle school/high school baseball finals were held in Peoria. There were 6 teams staying at the hotel. The girls high school team and one middle school team were well behaved. While the rest of the kids were running up & down the hall with the hotel staff trying to supervise them, the adults from the schools were sitting in the lobby drinking coffee/soda. This impacted our stay - otherwise I would have given an excellent rating for everything.

We enjoyed the fact that it was in a quiet location and even though there was a baseball tournament for young boys and all the teams were staying at the hotel the desk clerk put us on the top floor and we heard nothing.
The other thing we appreciate is that we used our points for these 2 rooms but our service was exactly the same as when we pay for the rooms.

We have stayed in this hotel before and never had a problem. However, this time there was very strong foul smell when we entered the lobby.
Also, there was some state tournament going on the weekend we were there and found out the rooms are not very sound-proof.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kcfaninstl Two years and counting
Staff is always helpful and friendly. I point this out because I patronize this location more than other cities I stay in and staff here always say hello and will strike up a conversation. Well done East Peoria!
My only complaint, albeit minor, is for for two years (probably 15-20 nights) EVERY time I check in at this location they thank me for my Gold Level Status. I politely thank them and pleasantly remind them I am a Platinum Member and we have had this conversation for two years, they bend over backward and apologize for the error and state they will change in their system. It has even become a joke now when I check in they remember me as they guy who they can't figure out how to change status in their computer.
Not a big deal, but I believe I probably am losing reward points. Strange thing is this is the only HIE where I stay, across the country, that seems to have this challenge.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Misterj Great value but...
I have and will stay at this property several times. Only thing I disliked about this stay was the housekeeping supervisor knocking on the door at 745 to see if I had left. I guess I was raised old school that you don't do business before 8 AM.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Border98 Why?
Why does housekeeping knock on the door at 8:00 a.m.? This didn't happen on Saturday or Sunday fortunately (our housekeeping person over the weekend was exceptionally good), but it did happen on Monday. I find this very annoying. There must be some way for the front desk to communicate to them that we haven't checked out yet. They can check/clean the room after we check out.
It also happened the next day at the Holiday Inn in Duluth, MN at 8 a.m. It must be an IHG policy? Why? We pay enough for the room to be left alone that early in the morning during our stay. I like everything else about this brand of hotels but the disturbance from housekeeping bothers me.

Even tho' we were there at IHSA basketball time, it was very quiet. The front desk staff were accommodating, giving us adjoining rooms on the fourth floor (to be quieter). All of the staff were helpful and polite. The rooms were like new. Breakfast choices had good variety: cereals, oatmeal, French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage (depending on the day), juice, fresh fruit, yogurt.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HFCoach325 Quality service and Met HIE high standards
For the price point, I've always found Holiday Inn Expresses to be one of the best choices, but the East Peoria one turned out to exceed my already high expectations with the sole exception of "only" average breakfast.
First, bringing a group of high school students for a competition is always tough, but the front desk was exceptionally courteous, accommodating with putting all rooms together, patient as I gathered my paperwork and payment, and answered all of our questions. Everything that could have been done in advance of getting our rooms ready (keys, prepared to take a check vs. credit card, and especially, wi-fi access instructions and password) were all done.
The rooms themselves were typical HIE, which is a very good thing. Clean, neat, well layed out, etc. Beds were too soft for my taste, but I feel that way about almost all hotels. Bathroom had a small lighting issue in terms of brightness, but a minimal problem (since the sink was outside the bathroom).
Most important consideration, noise from other rooms and hallway, was a complete non-issue. Maybe we had a good night, but I think the quality of the building was the issue.
Breakfast would be my only criticism. Compared to other HIE, the breakfast tea selection was minimal (1 type), the bacon was overcooked even for typical breakfast buffet style, and everything else just seemed ... average. Nothing wrong, but I've been to other similar breakfast layouts, both HIE and otherwise, thatwere done better. That being said, everything besides the bacon was perfect in terms of taste (and the bacon was certainly edible).
When myself and one of the students left something in the rooms, it was found and turned in by housekeeping, I received a phone call as soon as it was, and it was easily picked up as soon as we could get back to the hotel.
The once a year we hope to come to Peoria, I will plan on reserving rooms and staying here again. This was an excellent stay.

We visited Peoria to take a tour of Bradley University (which our son and we ALL loved). This Holiday Inn Express was very easily accessible and easy to find. It is close to a Target and Kohl's and several restaurants. The area seemed very safe and secure. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was very adequate- our son always loves the cinnamon rolls when we stay at a HIE.
The room was very clean and well-appointed. Our only criticism was the bed that my husband and I slept in had one of those holes in the middle where you roll toward the center all night. If you sat on the edge of the bed you literally would roll back. Had we been staying longer than one night, we would have asked to be moved to a new room. Due to that situation we did not get a good night's rest. That mattress needs to be replaced.
Dining tip: If you're in the mood to splurge on a big meal check out Alexander's Steak House. It's old school steak and potato with a salad bar- best steak we can remember tasting.
