This is certainly not my best stay for following reasons :
1st : room had no wardrobe to store small clothes, was only present in room an open coatrack to hang clothes. We had to let small clothes in our luggage.
2nd : breakfast was quite poor compared to other H-IN hotels we already visited.
Breakfast room was very crowded and quite small. Guest have to clear tables themselves, so tables and seats were not so clean.
3rd : at arrival, as gold member, we were offered a voucher for a courtesy drink at the bar. It was only for ONE glass... I had to pay my wife's coke. This is not for the £1.4 extra, just next time do not offer this anymore !
For the rest, hotel has a very good situation.

Lovely bedroom and bathroom very clean and had everything you need for your stay. Excellent breakfast with helpful staff. All staff on reception friendly and approachable. A gem of a hotel ideally situated for all amenities such as shops, restaurants and sightseeing.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BMT HK Pleasant Stay, Again
Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh City Centre is always my first choice whenever I travel to Edinburgh. The stay is always pleasant and this one is no exception. With its excellent location, professional and friendly staff, comfortable beds and rooms, good no-nonsense free breakfast, and great value for money, this will remain as one of my most favourate hotels for the years to come.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Andy_P Superb Value for Money
My wife and I chose the HIE in Edinburgh City Centre due to its proximity to Edinburgh Bus Station, Princes Street and because of the excellent rate we got when booking - almost half of the rate advertised at reception in fact.
We we warmly welcomed at check-in which really set the tone for our stay. Whilst checking in we were offered a complimentary late check-out of up to 2pm the next day which was much appreciated affording us extra time on our trip without requiring to carry lots of bags around with us.
The room was clean and tidy. Perhaps not as modern as other hotels we have stayed in but it still had heaters and fans to adjust temperature as required and we liked the fact we could actually open the window for some fresh air.
There was also the added bonus of free Wifi throughout the hotel meaning it was easy to check emails and twitter etc, both from the comfort of your room or the cosyness of the bar.
Staff couldn't have been more helpful throughout, happily replenishing tea, sugar and milk on request; at the bar, where we enjoyed a couple of drinks at prices that were very reasonable for a hotel; at breakfast; and those who were keeping the rooms clean and tidy.
Breakfast was the icing on the cake. When reading of a complimentary breakfast when booking I assumed it would be tea, toast and if we were lucky perhaps some cereal but there was a constant stream of sausages, scrambled egg and beans being brought to the breakfast bar in additional to various choices of cereals, fruits, breads and rolls.
It only added to the already excellent value.
All things considered we were delighted with our stay in the HIE and with another Edinburgh trip planned for later in the year this will be the first hotel we'll check out for prices and availability.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Liz56 Brilliant position and excellent service
This was our first visit to Edinburgh and we chose the hotel because of its central position. The position was excellent - walking distance to anywhere you might want in the city and buses on hand if you wish to travel further a field.
The staff couldn't do enough to help - including offering to change out tyre when we arrived with a puncture ( didn't take her up on it and in case you ever need need one there's a Kwik fit 3 minutes away in Macdonalds road).
Be aware breakfast does get very full, before 7.30am seemed to be the best time when we were there but delighted they still were serving the usual breakfast and not the new experimental one which is awful.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by JumpyJules Good location
Arrived and was able to check in, which was wonderful after an early start. Staff where very helpful.
Toilet seat was dirty so clean myself, didn't contact reception as needed to use it!
Curtain was hanging off rail so didn't block all the light out. We were at the front of the building and although road was busy it wasn't noisy in the room, but that's because we were unable to open any windows due to the sash window being broken. Room was very hot with no air conditioning, but we did have use of a fan, even leaving it on all day the room was warm and stuffy!
Good location. Wouldn't stay again with Holiday inn found the beds uncomfortable.....
