Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel I've stayed in the Elk City HIE for about 3 weeks this year. The staff is usually nice, though they do ignore guests a lot as they enter and exit. The pool area is nice, my 3 year old had fun. They do need to do a better job with their breakfast. I've been here for the last 2 weeks, and they always have expired milk in their fridge. I'm not sure why it is so difficult to keep milk in stock that isn't expired. I witnessed a staff member this morning pick up a random fork off of the counter that had been used by somebody else, and use it to pick up the cinnamon rolls to move them to the other container. I don't think their actions prove to be too sanitary. It's a new hotel, so you expect the rooms to be nice and they are. I would recommend better lighting in the bathrooms. My wife always has a hard time getting ready because it is so dim. A lot of HIE locations offer you a bag with a water and snacks when you check in as a Priority Club member, but here it is hard enough to get a water without requesting one. May 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent stay, except AC unit made noise. Decent stay, except AC unit made a whining noise any time the wind blew. In case you are unfamiliar with Oklahoma, the wind always blows. May 5, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by First Time In Five Stays.... First time in five stays that the front counter staff has actually booked me in the proper room that I reserved and paid for. I stay here simply because it's convieniance to my office accross the highway. The assistant manager still had to check with the manager to make sure she had me in the right room because she doen't know the room layout after 6 months of being open. But they actually put me in the room I reserved the fist time I checked in... Customer service was a little better than the last time I stayed. But still lacks the welcoming greetings and proper organization that one comes to expect from a Holiday Inn Hotel. Front Desk staff still lacks proper training to operate the computer and proper greetings when customers arrive.... Breakfast hasn't changed. Same Ol powdered eggs and biscuits and gravy.... And I must add that the room staff are top notch! Like I said earlier, I stay here quite often, and if the maids and hotel staff trained the front desk about customer service, this would be a much better hotel to stay at! They have top notch room service personel!!! Always polite, always curtious, clean my room regardless of when I leave or return, yes they knock in the morning, and I simply ask them to return at a later time.... And they do a very good job making your room comfortable and clean. April 10, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Customer Service!!! Hotel never has room available that was reserved 3 weeks in advance. Assistant manager was more concerned with helping the staff clean rooms than helping guests at front counter. Extreamly rude and inconciderate. Hotel management is more concerned with taking care of one or two night visitors to fill their extended suites, rather than their full time guests that stay multiple weeks a month, year round and spend tens of thousands of dollars a year at their hotel... If you're just looking for any room, for a couple of nights, and don't care how you're treated. Be my guest! If you want customer service and to be greeted like they're happy you spent your money with them, go somewhere else!!! And the breakfast selection stinks. Same ol powdered eggs and packaged biscuits and gravy every day.... Nothing I would eat if you care what you put in your body... April 10, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by staff at this hotel unfriendly first ran into the front desk attendent standing right out front door smoking, did not make an effort to say hello, and room that i booked was not availiable to me, there are two other holiday inn express within 50 miles east and west of this location and i would not hesitate to stay in either one rather then the experience i had at this holiday inn express April 4, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not for the business traveler. The bed was comfortable, although it would have been helpful to have a step stool to get on it. This room had no desk! It had only a small 2' x 2' table. My computer is 17" - with the mouse, there was no room left for the papers from which I had to work. The lighting in the bathroom was so low, when I dropped the clear lid from my hair spray I could not find it. When I checked in there were no luggage carts. Apparently they have 2 for four floors of rooms. March 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfy bed, but slightly understaffed The beds are great, and the staff was great. However, they seemed to only have one person working the evening shift. That person had to check guests in, take them things like fold up beds, and supply the pool with dry towels. The pool was awesome for my 2 year old daughter, but slightly chilly. The rooms (for I booked to stay there on our way to our destination, and on our way home) both had only one thing wrong with them. One amazingly annoying thing- a lightbulb that flashed all night. The first night of our stay we called the front desk around 9:30 or 10 when we noticed it upon turning out the lights. They said the maintenance man would be in around 11 and could fix it then. I just said to forget it and went to sleep after being in the car all day. On the way home our other room had the same problem. Would I stay here again? Yes. Best beds ever. Great breakfast. Oh, and if you are trying to find it using a navigator just look for Portobellos because the hotel is not on E. 3rd street. It's actually on 7th, but is right across from Portobellos. March 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pool and Rate The rate seemed a little high for the area. And the pool was geared more for kids and was FREEZING there also was no hot tub for relaxing. When checking out informed the front desk of the pool and was blown off. Would stay here again but not with my kids again. March 18, 2013
