THis is a very nive hotel in a very central location in Escondido. Front desk was very helpful even at 4:00AM.

the internet worked intermittently for about an hour the night we checked in, then went out and was still out when we left the next morning. When I complained the person at the front desk pointed out that the PC in the lobby was on wifi, I checked it, it didn't work either. He called the internet provider, and because they could see some people online, they apparently wanted to speak to me to fix my laptop (I declined as I retired from fixing network problems 10 years ago). Those online probably were connected by cable, not wifi. Oh, my Kindle, my smartphone, and my wife's laptop also could not connect to the internet. We could all connect to the wifi router in the hotel, but there was no internet service. All my stuff worked great the next night in a different hotel.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The rooms were very clean and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn because we had too many guests over the holidays so we chose to stay there since it was close to home and easy access. The staff was excellent and accommodated our request for extra pillows. The only drawback was the tub was slow in draining and exhaust for bathroom not very good so everything got moist in the bathroom. The beds were comfortable and although we were only there to sleep, we did eat breakfast there a day or two and it was above average with hot entrees and also hardboiled eggs which was appreciated on a low carb diet. All in all, an above average experience. PS-- You make it difficult to submit a review. This is the third time I have had to pick a different nickname. If you really want reviews, you would not make this process difficult.

Zen greeted us very warmly and made us welcome. The experience went down hill from there. The property is very old and even with a fresh coat of paint was not in very good condition. The room had an overpowering smell from the cleaners that were used.

We stayed for 9 days. They had good breakfasts and did their best to make sure we had a good stay. They switched rooms for us after the first night to get two beds versus one. When we needed an extra bed for the grandkids they brought one for no charge. They kept the room clean in spite of the kid toys we had scattered in the room. Only two negatives were one piece of broken equipment in the fitness room and the pull out sofa bed was very uncomfortable.

I stay at this hotel frequently for business because my company has a plant nearby. I have been here for five nights so far this year already and will be back in November. I also bring customers and colleagues here.
The value is very good for San Diego, and I am often upgraded to a suite, but the hotel is starting to show wear and tear in the public areas, and the rooms. The carpets are clearly worn in the hallways.
Is it really necessary to have artificial plants in the lobby in such a place like San Diego/Escondido?

Beds comfortable. Breakfast is good with lots of variety. Staff is friendly and helpful. Suite is excellent value. Large TVs made the kid's day. Hallway was stinky with large stains on carpet. Had to ask for towels to match the number of people in the room. They never had wash clothes. Easy access to highway and close to stores for needed items.
