Rooms were clean but old and small. Not like many other Holiday Inn Express. Some members of the Staff are not very friendly, but some were trying hard to be friendly.

I always stay at the Holiday Inn Express, Escondido, whenever I am in town. The service is exceptional and the beds are very comfortable. Overall it feels very homey. I never had a problem before, but on my last stay, December 4, 2013, the parking lot was being resurfaced and the parking was limited. I ended up parking at the end of the lot against some very destructive trees. I complained to the front desk and my problem was immediately handled to my satisfaction. I highly recommend this hotel and will continue to stay here whenever I am in town.

I'll start with the positives:
Hotel was clean and my room was clean and neat. Breakfast had a good variety of food, good quality.
- LOVED that the T.V.'s allowed guests to plug in a game console to watch a movie from home or play a video game. I travel for work so after a long day in a strange area, that's how I relax. More and more of the refurbished IHG brand hotel TV's don't work with that and it's a real drawback...usually a deal-breaker.
- Really appreciated that hotel staff took my request for a quiet room seriously. Was on a top floor at the end of a hall and I never heard a peep all night. Slept wonderfully. (Can't say the same for my co-worker, who was on the 1st floor and was woken at 6am by construction workers tearing up the asphalt right outisde her window! Hotel staff *must* have known about that...wondering why on earth they put her in that room???
- LOVED that they gave me a treat bag and water for being a rewards club member. THANK YOU! I always like that.
Other than that there's an exercise room and a pool & spa, which I didn't use but they looked in nice shape. What I did not like was that when I asked for a map to some local restaurants, the hotel couldn't provide one. They had a list, but a list doesn't do me much good because I'm from out of town so I don't know how far certain things are. It would've taken a while to look up addresses of good-sounding places and look them up in the Thomas Guide (yes, I'm old school!). Plus they couldn't give me a copy of the list because they only had one and their copier was broken. Lastly, I believe they only had one computer and someone was on it. I needed to check in for a flight in a hurry so that was inconvenient, not being able to use the computer. On the whole, though, the stay overall was a pretty good experience.
