As you can see I have rated this Holiday Inn Express at 2 stars, that is because I am rating this HIE in Comparison with other HIE hotels.
Were I to rate this as a Super 8 maybe I could give it 4 stars. However I spend alot of nights in Holiday Inn Express hotels and this one isn't up to the standard. If you read the other reviews you will get the feel of the situation.
Bed.. OK but not up to Holiday Inn Express standards.
Room air conditioner... almost worthless and it wasn't super hot outside.
Breakfast... please, clean the tables, refresh the food, add some fruit.. again not up to the HIE standard.
Odor.. The room had a musty smell, even to a degree in the hall there was a smell. To say that the room was clean... again not up to the standard that you would expect at a HIE. I have stayed at this Holiday Inn before and knew that it wasn't up to the HIE standard and I hate to be so critical because the staff are nice, I just think maybe there needs to be better management. Maybe a training program that train the employees about service.
All that said I guess what Grandpa said is still true... you pay for what you get! The price for their rooms are relatively low in price.

This was one of the better Holiday Inns I have been to. The staff was courteous and prompt. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Additionally, the location was excellent given the number of local restaurants in close proximity to the hotel.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn on September 16, 2013 using all of my points I had earned at other Holiday Inn's. The hotel was your basic Holiday Inn, nothing extraordinary. When I went to take a shower in the morning, no hot water would come out of my shower. At this point I had no choice but take a cold shower. The last time I took a cold shower was when I was in a third world country; Nicaragua. I got dressed and I told the guy at the front desk that there was no hot water in my room. He acted like it was no surprise. He didn't even acknowledge my concern. I guess this happens here more than I thought. I would not recommend this Holiday Inn.

I am a devoted Holiday Inn Express Customer but this one is not up to par.....The sign was not lit at night to help find it in the dark, no microwave or frig in the room, microwave in dining room was filthy, coffee first thing in the morning was barely warm....obviously been there overnight.

Nice facility!!! We were not disappointed in our room and enjoyed a great rest. Got up nice and refreshed. Staff recommended a restaurant just two miles away, Log Inn. Fantastic meal served family style along with "some history!" Would not hesitate to recommend to friend.

Not what I expected from HI Express. The keycard did not work and had to carry all my bags down and get that resolved.
Room was hot and the A/C was very poor even after being on all night.
Found quite a few bugs (dead) in the room and carpet.
No cinnamon rolls!
Coffee was cold from every pot tried in the lobby during breakfast.
Front desk personnel were pleasant but the breakfast "matron" was not a happy camper.
Was not given Rewards recognition.
I realize we all have bad days but this stay was not a good one and I was very surprised as I usually have good stays at the HIE I frequent.

Not greeted or ever acknowledged as a priority member even after I went back to the desk to confirm the rate (that I was not told to me when I registered) since there was no mention of the points used. But that was the least of the problems. The hotels in town were all full and they were charging top dollar for the rooms, but not up to par. The fitness room closed for maintenance, but you could see multiple fitness equipment there, hard to believe all was broke down. The hot tub was empty and dirty also closed for maintenance . Was told yes they knew the ice machine on the 2nd floor was not working (no sign). The breakfast was very late getting out, people were wanting to get to the local car show so had to leave and get breakfast and coffee at the fast food across the street, coffee was also out. I went to get a diet coke from machine guess what also out. The office staff were never out at front desk always had to get their attention from back office. Many people had booked very early and have stayed at this location for over 10 yrs for this event but will be looking elsewhere next year. My room was ok but did hear others that were not clean. I stay at different IHG hotels about 10 times a year and complete the reviews, normally there are excellent, but felt this needed to be addressed.

I arrived late at night traveling by motorcycle and was greeted by both the afternoon manager (about to leave) and the night manager (just starting her shift). both were very courteous and helpful and professional but also went beyond the basics. The room I booked had not been cleaned fully and the night manager did everything she could to rectify this (both looking for another room and ultimately finishing "turning the room" by making the bed). She was very helpful and very professional. While I understand mistakes can occur, I was exhausted and needed the room; the night manager did whatever it took. Ultimately, I left rested and happy. Clearly, the staff at this location (except for whomever forgot to turn the room) were the reason I recommended this hotel one week later to another person traveling on the same route.

Poor curb appeal here. There were cigarette butts and other trash around the entrance and the alcove smelled. The rooms were OK but kind of run down. Staff was nice and breakfast was OK. Bathrooms were clean.

This motel is easy to get to from the interstate. Has restaurants nearby. The motel's breakfast was pretty decent with several hot items on the breakfast bar.
Appeared to be a safe secure location for motorcycle parking, etc. Rooms and public areas were clean and orderly.

We are Priority Club members and stay primarily at Holiday Inn Express Hotels. This location is, by far, one of the worst we've ever encountered.
1. We were not greeted as Priority Club members, were not told the location of elevators, given directions to our room nor informed of breakfast hours. All of these are customary at Holiday Inn Express hotels.
2. I had to kill an earwig in the bathroom upon entry to our room.
3. The door did not lock unless you held the loose lock plate in place so the door mechanism could catch.
4. The entire hotel was humid and had a musty smell. Disgusting!
5. Despite our room being a non-smoking room, it smelled like smoke.
6. The hot tub had no water in it.
7. The fitness room was unusable. The front desk staff had no idea where the treadmill magnetic "keys" were, rendering the treadmills useless. The elliptical machine made such a horrible noise on each revolution that I ended up jogging laps around the hotel outside at 5:30am.
8. Flies buzzed around as you tried to eat breakfast and the pancake machine was out of batter. There didn't seem to be adequate staff to tend to the breakfast area, either.
9. The hotel was dirty, in general. Walls in the hallways and room were filthy

Compared to all other HI Expresses tried so far this one seemed a little below standard. The desk staff seemed rather confused and even though we did not arrive until almost 5 o'clock we were told we would have to go and "kill an hour" before housekeeping would have our room (reserved a week in advance) ready for us.
One of the neat features of this chain's breakfast offerings is the pancake-making machine but we could have no pancakes because the hotel was "out of batter and would be for two more days"!!
We had selected this hotel because we were traveling west on I-64 and did not want to go all the way to Evansville, but we had to go anyway to kill our hour. Not the hotel's fault exactly but to have a poorly run Denny's as the only restaurant around for miles and miles was also a disappointment. We Will NOT be staying there again.

common areas--hall, stairway, pool area floor-- are dirty; outside garbage cans (are often overflowing). No comfortable work/computer area chair in my room. Hot tub does not work--ditto for time before when I stayed there. Often out of some breakfast items.

Loved this hotel, the staff were really friendly and the facility was clean and up to date. Breakfast was hot and fresh and any needs were handled by helpful hotel personnel that were walking the dining room floor. The in room hot tub was a nice amenity to come "home" to.

The room and bed were basic but quite comfortable and clean. I arrived very late at night after being on the road all day and was glad to find my reservation in order and just tumble into bed. The location is very convenient to the road traveler but certainly not a scenic destination (and indeed outside the building--NOT inside--there is a distinct odor of feedlot or sewerage facility or something!); however, it was just what I needed: a very comfortable and convenient place to break a road trip, with a good breakfast in the morning, at a price that was surprisingly competitive.

Well upon checkin my husband and I checked in fairly late and it was an average "late" check in and I asked to pay ahead of time and the girl that checked me in the night of June 21st kind of acted like it was a hassle just to pay upon checkin that away when we did checkout the FOLLOWING morning we could leave and go about the weekend. The next morning my husband went down for breakfast and came up to the room with his breakfast and there was a long hair in his in gravy as well, and there was so many people there that food kept running out and it tasted weird, and there was not enough choices to choose from because there was no one on staff to stock up. Overall checkout was Horrible the girl Kristen or whatever was new and said she wasn't properly trained on her system to fix my bill and it too was a hassle as well and were not the only ones that had issues either Holiday Inn Express Evansville would do well if the staff was kind, slow to anger, attentive and listen to the guests needs...

I was not sure if I would be staying here when passing through; but, I stopped here before noon after driving through the night. I was tired and needed to relax and rest - the staff were able to let me check in early since they had an available room. They even offered a free upgrade - Sarah treated us like family. No hotel is perfect, but all the staff went out of the way to make our stay pleasant. Our room was more than expected for such a reasonable price. Breakfast was very good GFS fare, but I would have liked to have some sausage with my eggs, bacon, biscuit and gravy. The pool was a little small and crowded and the hot tub was being repaired, but I appreciated being able to do some water exercises to help with my stiff joints. Overall a great value. We will be staying here again the next time we are passing through Evansville.

This is an excellent place to stay. The staff treated us like they wanted us there. The room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. Bath room was large and very clean. In the morning we stopped at the free breakfast and to our surprise it was GREAT! We just can't say enough good stuff about the staff. Polite, always willing to help. Parking, can some time be a problem but, not here. Plenty of room to park with a short walk to our room. Plan to stay there next year. Will share my pleasant experience with my children and family so when they travel.
