Nice comfortable room, Be aware that it is possible that pets have stayed previously in the room and first room we were given clearly had a dog in it, the smell was there but masked by disinfectant spray(we are allergic to dogs), Our room was changed without incident.
Common spaces are dirty and lobby uninviting. Did not feel comfortable sitting in chairs due to dirt. Likewise, rugs in elevators filthy, tile floor on 3rd floor showed signs of a very old spill-don't think they know what a mop is.
Pool dirty and cold. Washer and dryer both didn't work, only caring staff was Kelvin who was able to get the washer/dryer going with a key. Kelvin should get a star for trying to help the guests feel comfortable, also found a dirty q-tip on floor in our room.
Breakfast was ok, pancake machine was broken so no pancakes.
Too bad management takes so little pride in this hotel-will never stay at a Holiday Inn express again!

Clean, comfy, good location and consistent! Nice to know what you are getting before you get there. I first stayed here just after they opened and they were still working on stuff but invited me to park my motorcycle under the awning ( rain storm going)! They won me over on that one! So again I am in a rain storm 6 years later and they tell me to park my MC under the awning but don't block the walkways from the parking lot. Very reasonable request!! Nice folks and breakfast was great!!

Front desk Kelvin was sharp, attentive and friendly. We had requested an early check-in with him by phone the day before and he was ready to check us in. We arrived well after three but thanked him for his attention to our request.
Got very little rest. Mostly from rowdy adults and slamming doors all night and screaming unruly kids in the hall all morning.
No. We didn't call the front desk. Just too tired. Tis the season I guess.

Clean Hotel. Staff needs to be better informed as to what IHG Offers. Internet was hit or miss for the 2 days I stayed. TV reception was less than adequate with the signal being interrupted MANY times.
Reception Staff was experiencing one of those "hit or miss" internet times when I was checking out and unable to provide me with a copy of my bill [required for my job], I took the lady's word when she told me she would email me a copy when she was able. 2 days and still no bill...
Called the hotel and spoke with a lady who could barely understand, not much less speak english and had no idea about reward points or much of anything else.
Sad to say but if I stay in Exmore again it will probably be at a competitor's place

From check-in to check-out, we had a great experience. We found the usual high quality room and facilities, as well as overall cleanliness. Since this was my first time at this hotel, I had a few questions.
I asked whether we could have a refrigerator in our room; within 15 minutes, Dreita found one for us. I asked about local restaurants; Dreita gave us great advice (seconded by the young woman working with her), and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals at The Great Machipongo Clam Shack and the Exmore Diner (plus leftovers, thanks to the fridge). When I called the Front Desk from the pool with a question, Dreita was there yet again to provide assistance.
This is what I expect from Holiday Inn - quality facilities, value for the money, and excellent assistance from the staff. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

On our way back from the Outer Banks we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. While the room was very clean and new, the noise in the hotel was horrendous. By 6 am we heard jumping from the floor above, people running through the hallways, and doors slamming. It seems to me that very cheap material must have been used to build the hotel. I've never experienced anything like this before. On a positive note, the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was very good for a complimentary breakfast. However, I don't know if I'd stay again because of all the noise.

Not knowing the area and having an imediate need this hotel was a gem to find. Everything was excelent! This will be my go to place as the need to be in the area grows.

Room and bed comfortable. They added a small refrigerator upon request. But the vaunted breakfast was disappointing. Food cold and unappealing. Too greasy. Left our table for a minute --- cup of coffee and newspaper (free),there.Returned, coffee gone and a dish rag left on table.

TV service with Direct TV is the worst. Hard to change channels, long delays in switching channels. Doesn't always change to the right channel. Cable is available to the Hotel but owner doesn't want to spend a little extra for the service. I am in the cable business and you could lose my business with poor TV service.

Check in was quick and painless. Staff and Service were attentive and knowledgeable. Room was clean and comfortable although I'm used to having a microwave/fridge available when I stay at a Holiday Inn. I must say that the complimentary breakfast definitely made up for that inconvenience. The breakfast was varied, fresh, and very good. When I return to this area, I will more than likely book this hotel again.

Overall, average when compared to other Holiday Inn Express's that I've stayed in. Staff was courteous and friendly, and made every effort to assist us during our overnight stay. The pool and exercise area was well maintained, and breakfast was fine. The bed needs to be replaced, or maybe it was just an inexpensive mattress. The furniture and carpets looked worn.

Stayed on our way through. Front desk person was great, even with it being late at night. She was there the next morning when we left and still chipper and pleasant.
Room and bathroom quite pleasant with all that we needed. We would recommend for a stay and would use again if necessary.

The staff from the front desk to the breakfast staff provided a great overall experience. I was there for work and the room had all needed connections for high speed internet as well as pleanty of room.
The manager, Jennifer was at the front desk with the desk clerk and really tried to make your stay the best way possible.
I will stay there again.

Returning from a trip down south, we stayed here with our dog for one night. Everything about this hotel and its staff was excellent. Check-in was smooth and fast. The manager was very friendly, and we were recognized as Priority Club members. The lobby and hallways were clean and welcoming. The king room we had was very spacious, neatly laid out, immaculate and all of our needs were met for toiletries and even choices of pillow firmness. The bed was very comfortable, and the hotel was extremely quiet so that our sleep was undisturbed. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent. The breakfast area was clean and well-tended. There were choices of tables and chairs or couches in front of a large fireplace with. TV for seating. The items for breakfast were varied, so that they would meet anyone's preferences for their breakfast. Some of the items were biscuits and sausage gravy, eggs, bacon, pancakes cooked to order by machine, yogurt, hot cinnamon buns, fresh fruit, hot and cold cereals, bagels, etc. Check-out was just as quick and smooth as check-in. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others or to return again.

We had several families with us for a short two night stay. The kids loved the pool, and we all enjoyed the great breakfast each morning to start our day. The staff was wonderful...

I stay in a lot of hotels due to my business. Holiday Inn is my hotel of preference. I was disappointed when I had to seek out and find the desk clerk, who was watching TV in the breakfast room at check-in. Then, the staff failed to change my bedding even though I put the little card on the pillow as instructed. In my opinion, there is much room for improvement at this site and I hope the staff and owners take the appropriate actions to reestablish the standard of quality I have come to expect from hotels that carry the Holiday Inn Express name.

We enjoy our stay and the staff was wonderful anything we needed they got it for us and we didn't have to wait that long. I also like the fact that this hotel is pet friendly I didn't have to worry about leaving my Chihuahuas with someone else.

The indoor pool was broken -- information that should be on the website. We would have gone elsewhere if we had known the pool wasn't working.
There was no soap or a bathmat in our bathroom.
The pancake machine for breakfast was broken and needed a sign on it saying so.
We won't be back.

We have stayed at this Holiday Inn in the past and it has always been very nice and comfortable. But this time was different. Our room had problems, It was small, the toilet didn't work right, it had one bed when we asked for two and were told that only suites had two, something new maybe? There was no fridge and no luggage rack. There were two phones in the room but both hade different room numbers on them and both were different then our room number. I tried to call the desk for a wake up call but all I got was an open line and at one point the desk answered and said "we are on the line with a hotel guest, please call back" and hung up. Finally I used my cell phone to call the desk and had to give them my room number because the room phones were not supposed to be in that room, we never did get that wake up call. We did however have a nice breakfast but I do not know that we will ever stay there again.
