Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Beware - Smoky rooms and hallways, dated everything else I thought a non-smoking room would mean that the room wouldn't smell like smoke. Boy was I wrong. At this hotel, smoking rooms and non-smoking rooms split up the hallway, so if your non-smoking room is close to the middle of the hallway, where the smoking rooms begin, as mine was, then your room too will smell like smoike. It seeped through our door and ventilation until it was in our room. I called the staff, and they offered to febreze my room. I declined the additional chemical treatment hoping I could open a window for fresh air. Unfortunately the windows do not open. So I called staff again, and they offered to febreze the hallway and bring up an air purifier for the hallway. I never saw the air purifier, but saw him running around the hallway trying to perfume it. Nothing worked. Unfortunately there were no other rooms available, so we were stuck. The next morning when I checked out, the staff asked me how our stay was, and I told them very smoky for a non-smoking room. The staff member acted like they were shocked but didn't offer to discount anything. I just looked at her incredulously - like she had never heard that complaint before?? Come on! Other than a smoky room, the hotel is not in the nicest part of town, sandwiched between a couple value inns where people are standing outside all night smoking. The decor is dated, and the bathroom has an outlet that when you pull out your hairdryer the outlet comes out with it. The next night we chose to stay elsewhere, and although it was 10 minutes farther away, we were sooo glad to be out of here. April 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location This HIE motel is located just outside the I-275 loop but is easily accessible to that highway as well as I-75 and I-71. There are a lot of restaurants nearby, ranging from the famous Cincinnati chili shops to gourmet cuisine. Because it is off the major highway, it is quiet and relaxing. After a day sitting in meetings, I especially enjoyed relaxing in the workout room and whirlpool tub. April 10, 2013

The pool, exercise room, free breakfast, and WiFi are great amenities that keep me coming back. The rooms are very clean and affordable. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone traveling in the area. April 3, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bed comfort We had a 2 queen bedroom and the complaint we both had was the mattress really needed to be replaced! Bed comfort is the most important thing a hotel can do for a guest, since most of a stay is sleeping. We did not complain at the desk, because we did not know what they could have done to resolve it that late in the day. February 20, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Most Pleasant Stay We were in Cinci for a funeral and while we were out the staff looked in on Parker our small Pomeranian. The weather was cold and blustery so they retrieved Parker from his doggie play pen in our room, put his sweater on, and took him for a walk which was totally unexpected. "What kindness!!!" The staff at the HIE in Fairfield, Ohio are far above average. They are extremely kind and attentive. Hospitality is not common place in today's world but, Matthew, Alison and Jamie have an abundance of it. Their willingness to serve and attention to detail is exemplary. They made our stay a memorable one and we will not forget them. Parker and his parents want to thank you so much for your kindness. See you again when in Cinci  January 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The most compassionate staff I've ever encountered My family gathered in Fairfield over the Christmas period to mourn the passing of a very dear loved one. There isn't a single adjective that can describe how wonderful the staff was to my entire family during our stay.... The staff was very attentive to our needs, and was always immediately available to support some of the unique requests we had while we stayed in Fairfield. On one particular night Paula, a member of the staff, set up snacks, soft drinks, coffee and holiday cookies in the conference room so that our family could come together in a private location that would support us --- and she did this using her own resources...wouldn't take a single dime from us, either. Additionally, the staff took particular care of my parents, who are older and disabled, by ensuring that their car was free of frost and snow before so that my Dad wouldn't risk hurting himself when the snowy weather came... My entire family is grateful to the Fairfield Holiday Inn Express team and you'll always have a loyal customer anytime I'm in the greater Cincinnati area....thank you very much on behalf of all of us!!!!!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Typical room for your dollar The one thing I found that irritated me each time I stayed is the outlets in the rooms. The outlets need to be changed out. The plug slips out or doesn't make contact for your gear to stay powered up. This happened in more than one room. I had to tape the cord in such a way so it kept the electricity flowing. The cleaning staff really needs to go above & beyond normal 15min cleaning to make a better impression. There is collected dust all over, the extra pillows are so old they smell, & the coffee machine needs to cleaned & rinsed. Dust & debris in all corners & baseboards in the rooms. The AC/heater units rattle & make noise when they kick on. October 22, 2012
